Surely now we will see out the league if not the double. Let's hope we bring in 3 or 4 decent singing and keep hatate, I know I always go on but please bring in a lb. Hail, hail all and bring on the double.

1.) 15 Apr 2024 09:33:36
I think we need more than 3/ 4 quality signings after last summers disaster mate, especially if we finally want to compete on the continent.
Gk
Cb
Lb
Dm
Am
At least 1 winger
And a forward. (Id start with idah)
are all a must. And these must be able to walk straight into the starting 11.
If we win the league now itll be more down to them being so rubbish as to us being good, although we have improved massively in recent weeks.

2.) 15 Apr 2024 10:38:22
Even if we win the league - and we all hope we do, the unrest and frustration of the supporters (and manager) during most the this season cannot be ignored. Recruitment was shambolic leaving us unbalanced, short of real quality and severely overstaffed.
We will have several players - deemed not good enough - on long contracts and we still have half a dozen or so out on loan.
The priority changes should be at Board and recruitment level.
I think it will take two or three 'windows' to sort out the mess we are in and even then, there is the chance good players may leave.
It is going to be a huge task retaining trophies, while rebuilding and it will take maximum efficiency from Board level downwards.

3.) 15 Apr 2024 11:03:13
Can we not put this subject to bed till we see the season out. let's be positive and get behind the team. we'll have the summer to sort things out. brendan spoke th other day that the club are working hard behind the scenes to get the right guys in.

4.) 15 Apr 2024 11:33:38
Mally, I agree.
Too many think that defeat yesterday killed their challenge.
If they win their game in hand then only 1 point in it.
That's not a difficult hurdle, especially with all the obligatory point saving penalties awarded.
One slip bu US and they are back in control.

I like to think targets are already identified and being pursued.

5.) 15 Apr 2024 12:00:28
'3 or 4 decent signings' is nowhere near what is required or should be demanded by the Celtic supporters who actually want their club to move forward.

A brief overview;-

* £60M+ in the bank

* MOR will likely be sold in the summer - £25M?

* should Frimpong be sold by Leverkusan @ 30% sell on fee based on £40M release clause = £9M+?

* Magic Mikey at West Brom = 10 bob

* we need at least 6 QUALITY first team players better than we already have in the starting 11 right now

* a barrowload of inferior players to sell/ loan/ write off

* x2 GK's/ LB/ CDM/ Striker required plus

If we have any imagination or ambition to improve Celtic Football Club on the European stage then we need to get serious this summer in the transfer market or it will be more of the same I. e. horde cash and beat SEVCO, that'll keep the majority of the punters happy.

That for me is unacceptable - HH.

☘️ ? ☘️.

6.) 15 Apr 2024 12:48:56
Pedro the major problem is, trying to get quality to come to Scottish football. As big a club as Celtic are it’s the standard of our league that’s the problem in trying to get the quality of player required regardless of how much they are going to earn.

7.) 15 Apr 2024 12:54:11
TinyTim it’s far from over we are going to be facing teams with rangers minded managers who will be giving everything to prevent us winning. McInnes, Naismith, Robinson won’t be trying to hard to beat them.

8.) 15 Apr 2024 13:01:07
I'm with you Mally. ?.

9.) 15 Apr 2024 14:13:31
Agree with all of the above, they're c*** but we aren't much better. We should beat them at Paradise but expecting us to win all remaining 5 league games is a stretch. That said, it's there for us. Btw, I'm brickin it if Hatate or CCV get injured.

10.) 15 Apr 2024 14:14:29
Let us concentrate on winning the next match, Next we play Aberdeen in Cup, we want to win this game . We have 5 league games to play and to win . The last thing I want to think of is who plays where next season . Now in mid April next season is a lifetime away . Let the whole club unite together and create an invincible feeling for every game as they come.

11.) 15 Apr 2024 14:39:37
I'd love to keep O'Riley for another year but as a player you need to strike while the iron's hot.

12.) 15 Apr 2024 18:37:43
9iar. did you really just say that expecting us to win 5 games in a row is a bit of a stretch? Are we st mirren? Geez if we are offered this at start of every season to win league we'd bite yer hand off. Celtic winning 5 must wins in a row is a must. Not a hope. Best team, best manager, all on form. 5 wins is a scoosh.

{Ed007's Note - I'm looking for 7 wins in a row for The Double, Kipper!}

26 Jan 2024 17:32:13
Can I just before I get to my point, the board are a joke not getting new players in doesn't matter how much we pay as long as they are good enough. There's so many fans on here moaning about the lack of transfers (which I agree with) but majority all come on and defend players that ain't good enough if they have a couple of good games that's music to the boards ears and under the ange era the last part of that we where poor I've said this before and had stupid stats put up but stats don't always paint the full picture it was going down hill for a while and people where blinded by winning the treble, the squad is far to big with a bunch of players that aren't good enough. Also I've heard at least 1 player will come in before the window closes but they are aiming for 2 and also trying to get the deal completed for the Liverpool gk but I'm not aurenof that 1 if he will join or not.

HailHailCB86

1.) 26 Jan 2024 18:03:20
Blinded by a treble? It's the maximum we can achieve?.

2.) 26 Jan 2024 18:16:59
There’s a difference between going down hill and taking our foot of the gas last season.

CCV missed the last 6 weeks of the season which didn’t help.
Losing Jota, Starfelt and Mooy also hasn’t helped.

Maybe in your defence,
Celtic never properly replaced Giakoumakis when he left at the end of January and we still haven’t.

I can’t think of any other reason which would suggest that Celtic started to go downhill last season.

I believe Celtic have went downhill this season because Ange is a better manager than Brendan and our team had better players last season.

3.) 26 Jan 2024 19:06:50
Buzz Bomb, I hope u allow me to slightly disagree with your last sentence, I believe went down hill this season because the change of manager& tactics took some time for players to get use to . Two yrs of Ange and honestly I knew nothing about him before he came to us and six mths of BR, on this period with us maybe we need more time,
Looking forward I hope I am not ridiculed and abused for pointing out that we are in quite a good place just now . Three players who through injury and loss of form didn’t do themselves justice. Abada, missed almost all pre - Jan. Hatate missed quite a bit . CCV missed a fair few games and wasn’t in his normal form for most of the others . All three are back playing and we hope Japan exit Asian Cup soon . We have one new signing Kuhn and most of us are very excited as he is very pacy and seems to be a versatile attacker . Our fifth ( improvement) is our Portuguese loan player, who has really blossomed over the last four or five matches, This doesn’t mean that we don’t need another player or two in, and I highlight the need as we enter the final days of window . We need these 1/ 2 quality players probably lB and striker . We need to remember we may have 5 good news stories, but the loss through injury of the most maligned Taylor could bite us hard if we don’t get in a quality lB.

4.) 26 Jan 2024 19:57:50
We should've been aiming to replace Taylor!, that is no offence to Taylor he's held that position and battled off competition, however the competition he has had has been woeful at best.

Minimum a striker and LB before the window shuts, Oh would benefit of a loan stint getting constant 90 minutes I think he could turn out good in the future but we need someone now!

5.) 26 Jan 2024 20:01:42
Celtic Calling

I think your post is very fair and reasonable under the current circumstances.

?.

6.) 26 Jan 2024 21:02:15
Celtic Calling

I don’t have any bad books or bad feeling towards anybody.

I’m only having the craic and never mean any harm.

I’m too old to fall out with anybody as one day I’ll need to give an account of myself as to how I’ve treated others before the Good Lord.

If your you’re on here as a supporter of Celtic which I know you are 100% plus a bit you’re singing from the same hymn sheet as the rest of us including me.

I look forward to having the craic after the game tomorrow where hopefully we take 3 points.

Don’t take anything I’ve said to heart.

You look after you see ye the morra CC!

Goodnight and God Bless you and yours.

7.) 26 Jan 2024 21:10:33
Taking into account if Sevco win tomorrow before Celtic kickoff,
They will have taken 4 points more, off the other 10 clubs in the league this season, after 22 league games.

After 22 League matches last season Celtic were 10 points clear.

Also taking into account the Sevco fans are unhappy with their recruitment this season.
They don’t believe fan favourites Arfield, Kent and Morelos have been replaced properly.

So Sevco have potentially got worse but according to some, Celtic have remained the same.

Sorry but Celtic had only dropped 5 points at this stage last season,
A defeat at St. Mirren and a draw at Ibrox.
Celtic had 61 points out of 66 possible.

If what your suggesting is correct,
Celtic will be brilliant in the 2nd half of the season.
I hope your right. ?.

8.) 26 Jan 2024 21:11:30
Turner

Absolute bollocks regarding Taylor comments.

He’s played out his skin for 3 seasons he needs competition as you say and like every other position on the park could be improved.

Agreed geez a striker.

9.) 26 Jan 2024 21:44:42
Turner

Nae offence your post was fantastic and spot on’.

10.) 27 Jan 2024 00:14:48
Buzz bomb u are trying to compare apples and Oranges . BR is approximately half ways through his first season with this team . It would be fairer to compare BR team to Ange team in his first season .
Anyone who wants to use statistics to prove a point usually can find away .

11.) 27 Jan 2024 01:36:28
I don’t think I am.
It’s obvious Celtic were better last season.

Ange took over a team that lost the league by a whooping 25 points and he still won the title.

Brendan has taken over a treble winning side and it took him until December 30th to win 3 games in a row.

12.) 27 Jan 2024 06:20:18
Ange had to build nearly a full new team and squad in his first team.

We had no GK, no RB, no CBs, 2 midfielders, no wingers and no strikers for the first team.

Rodgers inherited a great team and a good squad.

13.) 27 Jan 2024 08:05:35
Nobody is denying that Ange didn’t do a good job . It was because we were in such Dire Straits players were easier to convince to come to Celtic . A club that needed virtually a whole ist team . A successful club having won 9/ 10 SPL titles and was it 5 trebles out of 8 . Players knew that they had a great opportunity of play In every game in a winning team .
Now Celtic are etc backing winning, ist team squad almost complete, Celtic unlike 2 yrs ago are seeking a couple specific type players for a specIfic position. For example we are looking for a quality striker to challenge Oh for back-up to Kyogo .
Ange also had clean slate setting up his tactics and getting players to buy in with everything clear and obvious . BR justifiably has to alter team tactIt’s to suit his own . It is fairer to judge both managers on their first yrs result’s and performance.

14.) 27 Jan 2024 10:05:02
What I will say is Ange got to build his own team and picked a few of his own "quality" with players he knew from Japan. Brendan has inherited Ange's squad and has had to make do with project signings. I prefer Ange's style but hopefully with the quality in Rodgers can then dominate like he did the last time he was up here.

15.) 27 Jan 2024 12:12:56
I don't agree ange is better than brendan and also disagree about taking our foot off the gas the last 6 months, we did take it our feet of the gas when we won the title but not before hand we didn't play the same way we did the year and a half before that under ange maybe it was to do with ange leaving if they knew any sooner than was made out. I've watched spurs a lot this season because ange took over but I haven't been as impressed as many make out. Seen mentioned on some other news website that the club are working on a loan deal for a lb from Portugal any truth in it?

13 Jan 2024 08:00:45
What positions would really like to see being signed for? Personally I would like to see a gk, lb and St being brought in. Can I also ask what u think it would take to win the league because I personally believe we will win this league with the team we have possible 1 or 2 players brought in.

before everyone jumps on to me here I'm not saying we should settle for that, we need to start to get the board to back BR. I know people on here doubt him but the board aren't backing him properly.

no one can say those summer signings where all his just like when ange came, ccv was already being looked at for the previous 2 windows before ange arrived.

1 last question I know the bhoy Tilo said he's struggling with the training but I would like to see him loaned out to like a championship club just to see how he goes, also would think lagerbielke loaned out to a Scottish club and try see how he goes before we ship him off permanently.

HailHailCB86

1.) 13 Jan 2024 09:00:26
I would like to see a new left back to challenge Taylor because I don’t think we have a good enough backup.

Bernabei has no future at Celtic and Scales is a CB.

Taylor has done well to previously see off 5 players competing for his left back slot.

Laxalt came in loan from AC. Milan but Taylor was better.
Bolingoli was no better than Laxalt.
Scales was next and Ange also tried Juranovic at left back whilst Ralston was in the team.

Celtic then wasted decent money with Bernabei but Taylor has seen them all off.

I want a new left back but he will have a challenge on his hands.

2.) 13 Jan 2024 12:37:36
Agree BB and if the board had true ambition why not get Doig? £4.5m is well within our budget, right age, lots of potential Scottish quota, etc. BR must know he is better tha what we have.

3.) 13 Jan 2024 14:29:03
Enrico really hoping Celtic sign Patson Daka from Leicester.

4.) 13 Jan 2024 14:54:49
I like Cochrane at Hearts, always impresses me everytime i see him. But like Buzz says Taylor has fought off every competition he has had and that's no coincidence!

5.) 13 Jan 2024 16:01:33
I don't think he's fought of anyone, there was never much of a fight as they were all duds. I'm with chinks, Doig would be a good option if it were possible but I suspect he will go to Rangers.

6.) 13 Jan 2024 19:09:45
Limerickcelt I doubt very much if any one that Celtic signed were duds .
They may have proved not good enough for purpose when given a chance .
Us supporters and maybe to a lesser chance our managers may not give our new young players time to show how good they are . Signing players from afar may mean we don’t see the best of him until his second season .

7.) 13 Jan 2024 19:32:28
I want a new left back but like Buzz they will need to be really good to replace him.

Yes teams see him as a weakness but that is usually about his height, they throw a big guy out there and throw the ball in the air. To be fair to GT, he gets stuck into these guys and and wins a lot of ariel battles.

I think for me he hasn't got the burst of pace of Teirney or Izzi to beat a full back and gets crosses in.

He does score goals though but as a left back he really should be in the box for corners but he wanders in there.

I like the guy and he has a huge heart.

25 Oct 2023 20:38:49
Do we have a buy clause in then loan deal for the bhoy bernando?

HailHailCB86

1.) 25 Oct 2023 21:59:09
I’m sure we do Hail Hail.

2.) 25 Oct 2023 22:10:20
Hope so.

3.) 25 Oct 2023 22:16:39
Believe so . . . I've liked what I've seen, and Brendan seems to be warming to the lad.

4.) 25 Oct 2023 22:51:51
I hope so I know he hasn't played a lot but I think he's the type of player brendon can improve.

25 Oct 2023 20:29:40
I know there's still a long way to go in this game but Ed I've moaned many a times and you and majority defend Greg Taylor hopefully now you'll all see he is not celtic class and not just on tonight's game the game for Scotland aswell.

HailHailCB86

{Ed007's Note - I have no idea and no interest in how anyone plays for Scotland. That pass in the build up to Palma's goal was delicious right enough so I can forgive him for giving away what was a very soft penalty.
Bit sad that you're first thought when Celtic lose a penalty is to come on and dig me up but hey-ho, each to their own.}

1.) 25 Oct 2023 21:23:25
No Ed this is just about a penalty this is about majority of the games this boy plays I'm not just saying u many a people on here slayed me for stating the obvious. I totally agree with u that was a very soft penalty and I feel he was hard done by, I was talking about the early part of this game. I pray the club get a gk and lb in as soon as.

{Ed007's Note - Taylor is more than capable domestically but I agree he sometimes struggles at European level.}

2.) 25 Oct 2023 21:26:20
Ed sorry to bother u again but quick question do u think Taylor would be better a bit more forward?

{Ed007's Note - I do in European games but as we're seeing that's means us going 3 at the back.}

3.) 25 Oct 2023 22:05:30
I just think he let's us down so often. Tonight's game was good we. need to mind what these players are worth, I think we can get a result out of feyenoord and hopefully 1 victory in Rome or Madrid but we need to take the positives out of this campaign more than others I know the results have been good but surely now the board will give BR the backing to kick us on we are playing some of the best football in a long time in my opinion, we just need to kick out the silly mistakes.

{Ed007's Note - The way we are approaching games and playing shows signs of a big improvement at this level, is it bad luck? Is it the difference between splashing money on at least 1 or 2 "next level" players?
I think Rodgers has grown as a manager at this level since his previous spell and will know exactly what he needs to move us forward, let's hope the board back him.
Once again for me, Kyogo really struggles at his level. I know he's scored a couple of goals in this campaign but he doesn't really cause the opposition the same problems he does in Scotland. I don't know how to explain it and it sounds silly but apart from his goal what did he do?
Guys like Henrik, JVoH, Hooper, LG, Sutton, Hartson etc etc all got into positions for any ball coming into the box, Kyogo just doesn't do that often enough, we're crossing the ball into areas and our striker is nowhere near them. MOR broke through tonight and laid it back - a LG or Hooper would have been right in there - and you could see his frustration.
I honestly think that Kyogo's game & goals would go to another level if we played 2 up front but I can't see that happening.}

4.) 25 Oct 2023 22:30:52
Ed007 could it be that Kyogo isn't actually a striker as such? From memory I'm quite sure he didn't play as a centre forward before he came to Scotland.

{Ed007's Note - I think he was more a LW.....

5.) 25 Oct 2023 22:50:18
Ed u hit the nail on the head I think he just lacks it at this level maybe a big target man up beside him would help but no matter who is in charge now will never really go 2 men up top, I personally don't understand this as it makes teams leave more defenders stay back, but honestly I do think we are improving with every game and hope we can kick on and turn some of these unluck stories into points, Ed don't think I was just having a go tonight mate was just frusted at GT for me the boy just isn't good enough mate but I honestly think u do u a great job on here and appreciate all u do. Hail hail.

{Ed007's Note - No worries mate and thanks ?

6.) 25 Oct 2023 22:59:12
Taylor is getting better this season and he’s finding his form we seen under Ange.
Taylor is a solid defender.

7.) 26 Oct 2023 07:47:06
He us a good player at SPL level but he leaves a lot of room behind him when he comes inside and at CL level he has and is going to get caught out and that costs us.

At SPL level we won't always get punished by against CL level opponents we will get severely punished.

8.) 26 Oct 2023 07:58:32
Yea I'm sure he was and that maybe explains why he doesn't make more of an impact at the higher level although I do agree with you when you say about 2 up top, I think he would be far better at the higher level playing off a striker that is more physical and can play with his back to the goal.

9.) 26 Oct 2023 08:07:16
I think overall we have played well in this group stages, possibly as good as we could hope for. with this group of players
Which means for me we do need to improve the first 11 with 2-3 players as that could make the difference for us, also just an odd flukey goal would be nice to maybe break our record, that the press love to wheel out.
Also griezeman was class tonight, watching him live, getting space laying passes off , changing tempo of the games was brilliant.

10.) 26 Oct 2023 06:10:19
Ed you mentioned Kyogo, I really agree, great finisher but and at times he also starts a move well but too often the move breaks down when he need to hold it or lay it out wide, i think across our front line we sometimes tried the one touch pass that wasn’t actually needed, I have no doubt that’s how there coached and what been asked to do, what a performance last night on and off the pitch, envy of Scottish football and signs of cepetency at this level, people talk about strength on bench but there plenty of strength on a brags bench, or psv, lazio, and plenty other teams in ucl, so it can be done and at our current squad costs, on last night I think if we went 3 back sooner and replaced daizen with oh regardless of his quality we would have stretched them and been more compact defensively, there defending and there managers contestant instructions last 10 mins was a lesson in managing the game,
