Celtic are showing strong interest in young Polish striker Piotr Parzyszek. He is 20 and playing in Holland for De Grafschap. 23 goals in 42 games. John Park has been watching him since the start of the season.

Che Connolly.

1.) We need a striker Noo!

JJ

2.) Whipee another one for the future, if we're not careful we'll turn in to Marty McFly and start driving Delorean cars. Now, now, now, what don't the board understsnd

3.) Well said badbhoy. At this rate we're going to have a mighty team in 2017!

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy

4.) 01 Dec 2013 18:27:57
Keep john park away fae
scouting strikers. vin

5.) Why vin? JP scouts strikers who continually go on to bigger and better things, unfortunately the board continually go for his fifth or sixth choice. TBH can see him being poached by a team that trusts his judgement.

6.) 01 Dec 2013 22:13:39
Why? bangura, balde, pukki millions wasted on duds no even good enuff to get starts in oor league never mind champions league. Vin

7.) @Vin JP highlights who he wants, it's then up to firstly Lenny who decides if he fancies the player then Pedro to decide if he'll release funds needed. I may be wrong, but didn't Lennon say the players that came in this summer weren't his first choice?

8.) Whoever he scouts should still be of a good standard

Monkey bhoy

How the hell can Scott Brown receive a three match ban for his red card against Barcelona? Thank f**k the club are appealing this absurd decision. If only they could grow a backbone over other injustices against the club.

Never Forget, Never Forgive.

Che Connolly.

1.) Because he didn't something wasn't supposed if he hadn't went near neymar then it was booking because that's what the ref had in his hand the yellow card, but because of his stupidness he got himself sent off, he's a liability . personally i'd give him 4 matches to give celtic a chance :) {Ed007's Note - If it was a yellow card for for the foul and another one for kicking-out the referee should have shown him the yellow then the red as it is two separate offences. If it was two yellow card offences he would have only have served a one match ban. It was a straight red which means an automatic one match ban but extra punishment can be handed down. I'd bet my last coin though that if it had happened against Shakhter Karagandy Brown would only serve a one match ban. }

2.) 3 match ban that's incredible, a was actualy thinking they would pull Neymar up for feigning injury.
1 match ban was plenty

3.) As far as uefa are concerned brown lashed out therefore its violent conduct. As captain Brown really has to learn to control himself a bit more. can't really see an appeal being successful, not if they think it might help us take points from milan

4.) Shocking decision. Scott deserved his 1 game ban and no more. Uefa are having a laugh and I hope we win our appeal. Julieghirl

5.) Shocking decision NOT! C'mon Broony knew exactly what he was doing, but only he knows WHY. And before anyone starts I am a 40 yr old tim with a mind of my own. HH. Davie Blantyre Bhoy. {Ed007's Note - I do think the punishment is harsh Davie but I certainly agree that Brown should have known better.}

6.) He shd have got a 4 match ban for stupidness I think we play better without him anyway liability

7.) Che what other injustices?

Just as a matter of interest and point of discussion, can any Celtic fan defend this season's transfer dealings?

Che Connolly.

1.) I think lack of money spent in transfer market is down to the board anticipating forces of darkness gaining promotion this season and giving whoever the manager is next summer a big wedge to spend ( I live in hope ) only time will tell!

2.) Hi folks just back fi holiday and managed to see both legs of the embarrassment in Europe, and tams reply got me thinking would it not be better to get decent guys in now to bed them in before there's even a slight chance of rangers ( or whatever you want to call them, hearts n hibs.) coming back into top league because like it or not, through time they will get stronger and from what I've seen in past 6/7 months we aren't getting any better!

3.) 13 Aug 2014 09:54:00
Although its not ideal, I actually understand the transfer dealings.

If Legia won their appeal today we would have spent money on players who aren't going to make any difference in terms of us winning the league. At present the squad is strong enough to win the league.

The board will hopefully spend if we confirm our place in the group stages but to rush out and spend it in 3 days would be madness.

Id like to see Celtic buy smart and young.

Souttar, McManaman, Armstrong and Guidetti. 12 million should see the lot join!

4.) 13 Aug 2014 10:04:40
Tam, if we did our business in the right manner, we would be out of sight already. The problem with the policy of looking for gems on the cheap is that even if we find any, they stand out in a sea of mediocrity and leave too quickly to be of any benefit to our team. Maybe with a better team, they would hang around a bit longer. The bank balance may improve but as football team we are going nowhere.
Sort of get what RD is saying about wage structures,BUT others should just be told that if they want Ronaldo type money, they need to be turning in Ronaldo type performances. At present we are stuck with the flip side of that in if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.

5.) 13 Aug 2014 11:00:57
Che like yourself I am more than worried about the transfer policy and even more worried about what comes out of Ronnie's head. In an early interview he said that he did not believe in loan deals as it just developed other teams players. Now he has Jason Deneyer and claims he is worth £10 million, so this kid is better than VVD is he? He then goes onto say we could not afford to buy him so he is going to develop players for another team? He is also suggesting he may take a striker on loan to "fix the problem up front". Issues are he is alienating the existing players talking like that in the press and is this another new policy, don't buy just get players in on loan. Who knows?

6.) After the likes of pukki derk and amido I think loans with option to buy are a great idea. a lot of teams are doing this now.
Dont understand why we have signed the boy from city purely on loan though. Would have liked a decent cb who would be here a few years.
Club has made some decent money the last few years and has spent a lot on transfers aswell. I am happy with the way we spend knowing the the club will have no financial problems for many many years.
We need to wake up and realise the money ain't there anymore. If you ain't a club in the top 5 leagues then the days of £6million pound players are gone

7.) We've been told we will spend money for the last 3 years if we qualify it's the same patter every year! We need to strengthen our team! I'd have been happy with what we've got plus Armstrong and May it's not exactly too much is it?

{Ed007's Note - I'd take Stevie May over Griffiths all day long, that's what I mean about not spending what money we have wisely.}

8.) Been worried about how we are being 'run' for a while and it's frightening.
The money was there when Hooper and Wanyama were sold plus we had CL group money when we squeaked through by a baw-hair v. Karagandy.
The money was not invested wisely and we added some questionable additions who added zero quality.
There were plenty of affordable options (Russell, May and others, but we went for Griffiths?

This season we have a new manager and with a weak squad full of injury prone players and we get found out big time in the CL qualifiers.
We get a reprieve (or do we?) and then we sell our International goalie.
I realise the transfer window still hasa couple of weeks to run, but the manager should have had a list of players ready and the club should have been busy adding to the team. Instead, we scamper around on the eve of the SPL defence trying for loan deals.
We look very amateurish and hesitant for a club of our size and expectation thanks to the men that 'run' Celtic.

JJ

9.) I know ed too many talents slip away from our own league and 800k for a player who can lead the line! Think a lot of us are becoming disillusioned!

03 Jul 2014 06:55:50
So RD came to Celtic, he's unveiled as "a young, progressive coach and a developer of players"

1st signing is a GK, 31, not played since 2012

Che Connolly.

1.) 31 is not old for a keeper and you can't deny Gordon was a very good GK. Doubt he's going to be our no1 and really needs to prove himself but if it's a pay as you play deal why the hell not?

2.) The fact it says 2 yr deal makes me doubt it's a pay-per-play deal, otherwise it would say so. If he's been signed on a straight forward 2 yr deal then it's a terrible peice of business!

3.) It can still be a 2yr contract and a pay as you play hb. I would hope that Celtic wouldn't be as naive not to insert some sort of clause. If it's not then I agree it's a bad piece of business.

4.) 03 Jul 2014 13:54:10
I can't imagine for one minute PL had forked out big money on GK, and as for the manager saying he wants youth in sure he does but he's got to be pragmatic as well. He seems a straight shooter to me who isn't going to look at what we have with fresh impartial eyes - ala JF , have we not been crying out for that for ages?

5.) That's the CG deal official. It's a 2 yr contract with the club having the option of a 3rd year. No mention of it being a pay-per-play contract?

6.) HB we'll never know the full ins and outs of the contract. We could be paying him 2k a week with bonuses for playing.

7.) What age was Ronnie Simpson when he came to celtic?, 34 or 35, .

8.) I think Craig Gordon will be surplus to requirements . Fasan showed today a great determination to keep a clean sheet. He really was impressive and should be able to build on it .

{Ed003's Note - you're not going to be surplus to requirements on the day you signed lol. then again funny old game}

03 Jul 2014 00:44:57

6 June 2014 - Celtic appoint Ronny Deila as their new manager:

Chairman Ian Bankier said: "We are delighted to have secured Ronny as Celtic Manager. He is a highly-regarded individual and a man who we are confident will bring great success to Celtic. He is a forward-thinking coach and manager with a progressive approach. The Celtic Board will support Ronny fully and in every way and we look forward to working with him."

2 July 2014 - Celtic sign Craig Gordon, a 31 year old GK who has not played since 2012, has only played ONE single match since 2011 and a total of 16 matches in the last FOUR years.

Since the last World Cup Gordon has played 16 games of football.

Che Connolly.

1.) This is going to be a disaster. Just can't see Gordon reconnecting with form that earned him £9m move to sunderland.

Its a lawell signing. Makes me wonder who is responsible for duds such as boerighter, pukki and balde

2.) I think this reaffirms the belief that RD is head coach, nothing more or nothing less. Him n JC train the players, pick the squad / tactics n make the board aware what positions need strengthened. JP watches players in said position then passes a list to PL who decides which one is most suitable.

3.) I have had real concerns about our transfer strategy (or lack of it) for ages. We constantly 'miss the boat'.
NL seemed to have ongoing problems with the Board and it would be very interesting to hear his thoughts now.
It's hard enough being a selling club and constantly losing our better players; but they have to be replaced with similar or better quality/potential or the games a bogie with mediocrity on the pitch, lack of success and fans frustration and backlash.
The current squad needs additions and improvement in quality and RD must have seen this by now.

JJ

4.) Listen to yourselves, cup always half empty. Say Gordon does regain his form. He must have impressed in training to earn a contract and PL will have conditions typed into the contract. What if this, What if that, my heid is sore reading this crap. Gordon is a Celtic Player now so what about giving him a chance. Ronny has only taken a couple of training sessions and youz lot are questioning why he has not bought a multi million pound footballer yet. We are Celtic Supporters, Faithfull.
Hail Hail

5.) Yeah, I've said for ages that Peter Lawwell is becoming more a director of football by the second, with John Park his assistant. What knowledge does Lawwell have to be doing this job? Nowhere near enough in my opinion - if he wants to run the club this way, cool, but get in someone qualified. From the U21's right through the development squad, to the first team, we have players who are simply not good enough. We have far too many numbers, and not 1 player who could go to a top top club and be a first pick. All these wages could be going towards a smaller/tighter squad of quality. From the youth up, hopefully our new manager can start to work his way through all the mediocrity, and as I said Lawwell should know his limits, or move on.

6.) This is the reason the gap between us (and the league the media always compare us too) and the EPL keeps getting bigger.

We bring through and/or buy youngsters, develop then sell them like we have with Wanyama, McGeady, Ki and Hooper. All went for fees between £5.5m and £12.5m, but we can't keep doing that on the cheap side of the scale.

Once we've done it with several players, we should then push the fees we spend and demand from others for our players up.

That way we develop on and off the field, as well as moving with the rest and not getting left behind like the rest of Scottish football.

The way I see it is the board will sell Fraser Forster for £9m (as well as punting or releasing Zaluska) and say we've replaced him with a £9m player already. Albeit our new £9m player hasn't kicked a ball since April 2012 and has a long history of knee problems that he visited specialists in America and Spain regarding!

7.) It's that kind of nonsense (over and over / faithful through and through, etc) that's allowed the board to call our bluff time and time again in recent years.

No one's questioning why RD's not bought anyone yet, because he's kept us in the know by saying he wants to run the rule over what he's got first.

People are disgruntled that we've brought a manager in from Norway, with little to no knowledge of the Scottish game, and are expected to believe he went "Aye, give me that Gordon fella who hasn't played football for over 2 yrs!"

8.) @4. A club competing in champions league group stages 2 years running, should not be taking a gamble on a goalkeeper who has been out the game for over 2 years, is injury prone and barely kicked a ball since last world cup. There is no viable argument in his favour.

9.) DN30 you do not lose all that talent jist cause yir knees been a bit sore for 2 years. He must have impressed in his trial and he must have been medically tested to see if his knee will stand up to the pressures that come with being a Goalkeeper. I reakon its a great signing for us and for him, he will be back in the Scotland Team in no time. Hail Hail

{Ed007's Note - The problems with his knees was a lot worse than them being 'a bit sore', Tam. We'll find out how strong his knees (plural), arms and his confidence are when he gets his first clatter during a game. Gordon is one bad landing or bump away from crippling himself, and he won't be truly tested until he plays in a competitive match.
Right away any opposition team will target him as a weak link in the team, players like Chris Sutton and Hartson would have relished the chance to play against a crock GK, why won't physical players like Jason Scotland and John Sutton feel the same?
Would you be so happy if we signed a new CB or RW who hadn't played a single match in the last 2 years? If Bobby Petta could prove his fitness should we sign him as well, he's played more football than Gordon in the last couple of years.
If any other SPFL team had signed Gordon we'd have been pi$$ing ourselves laughing, especially if it was Sevco. They're taking pelters from all directions, including their own fans, for signing Miller and Boyd, us signing Gordon is x10 worse than that.}

10.) Ed, its not a case of if you are happy or not. We will not know until he is tested but I say again the medical and training he has done to earn the contract must have been severe. I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and we will just have to wait and see. Best case scenario would be for Big FF to stay 1 more season and ease CG in slowly. he has my full backing, a cracking keeper in his time and a steal if he gets back to being half as good as he once was. Hail Hail

{Ed007's Note - And the deal's been all done and dusted with the very minimum, if any, input of the manager.}

11.) TamTimTic are you serious? Knee injuries are possibly one of the worst a footballer can get. I know this first hand cause I had to give up playing cause my left is f*cked. Its even worse for a goalkeeper.

Picture the scenario. its clear one of the goalkeepers on our books is away, say zaluska (outside bet). Forster gets injured and Gordon replaces him. Gets injured as well. We are in the sh@t. I know who I will be blaming- lawell

That's another snub from the Premier League for Neil Lennon with news that W.B.A. have appointed Alan Irvine as their new manager.

Is anyone else starting to think Lennon is going to struggle to get another management job of any standing?

His best bet might be going into the Championship and hoping he catches a PL club's eye, it was obvious he fancied the Norwich job and with parachute payments he probably thought he could take them straight back up.

It must be worrying him that clubs aren't exactly beating down the door to appoint him considering the work him and his agent have been doing since January 2013 to engineer a move down south.

And let's face it, going abroad to somewhere like Dubai to manage is not going to add anything of note to his CV. As time goes on I'm starting to wonder just how amicable him leaving Celtic actually was, did he really leave just to go to Brazil and work for the BBC?

P.S. On another note I'm not long in from a great day out in Garngad at the Green Brigade's annual anti-discrimination football tournament and foodbank collection, as usual everyone involved was a credit to the club.

Che Connolly.

1.) Where exactly is the quotes to say he applied for Norwich or WBA to be snubbed?

I was never his biggest fan but if you ask me these 2 clubs have taken the cheap options and will be left to count the cost when they fail to get promotion next year.

2.) Where exactly can W.B.A. fail to get promotion from next year?

3.) Touche! Championship 2015/16 season

4.) When you see the quality of some of the EPL managers, I am sure Lennon may be in no great hurry to get a job as the EPL is full of people who cannot manage and but for the crazy money around they wouldn't have a job .

5.) Has he opted to go this yr as it wld have meant stayin for anther 2-3 if the zombies came up.

6.) 15 Jun 2014 02:18:55
If he wants to take a break and have an easy job in the sun good luck to him and his family

7.) I'm sure some of the GB would sell their souls of a standing area, would maybe explain some of the negitive vibes coming from that direction towards our departed manager .
Lawwell I'm sure would look favourably on those who would help deflect the heat of his present goings on and his mini coup for total control .
Be careful what you wish for, a small section could easily be swallowed up if the proposed 3000 standing places are allocated.
Another V for the big boss?
He's playing a fine game.

8.) The interest in Neil Lennon's future career or lack of it is very touching . I am sure Neil will feel very reassured .
I am surprised how anyone knows that he has been over looked by WBA or any other club . I am sure Neil Lennon is in no rush as based on last season there will be plenty of vacancies right through the season, so that there no chance that he feels that he will necessary be out in the cold for long .
If Lennon. Is been snubbed its a bad reflection on how some English clubs look at their counterparts across the border, if the most successful manager in Scotland over the past four years isn't considered worthy for a struggling EPL club, then the EPL club has a problem .

{Ed007's Note - I think the fact that David McNally is Norwich's chief executive alone is evidence that NL was at least considered for the Norwich job. NL also hired a Manchester based agent about 18 months ago to to begin sounding out the English market for jobs, so he would most definitely have been putting his name forward to lower end EPL and higher end Championship clubs most of last season looking for an earner.
It wouldn't surprise me to see Lennon take a year out to work for the BBC in the hope that an English club take a chance on him, he admitted himself earlier this year that he was disappointed no English team had made any approach for him.

9.) @ed it wouldn't surprise me if lennon ended up commentating as a career instead of management. I don't think he is going to get the managers job he is looking for

{Ed007's Note - He might well do that and good luck to him if he does. It's worked out well for others who've done it.}

10.) As you say Ed we don't know if Neil is frantically looking for an EPL job now or is taking time out and working for the BBC in the mean time . One thing is sure there will always be many vacancies in England .
I am now certain, he was right to leave Celtic, whether he was encouraged or not, as I think he has brought the club as far as he could . Another year may have destroyed the memory people had of him .

{Ed007's Note - He's not dead ffs, you'll get over it!! A couple of months of Collins keeping Delia right and you'll be back on track. I expect a calendar out with Collins showing his 6 pack off, a sponsored vitamins program, keep fit DVD and catchy slogan before Santa time this year, think of an arrogant Hulk Hogan with a patronising sneer on his face.}

11.) @ed to be honest I thought he done alright commentating on france v Honduras game. He was certainly better than shearer who was waffling a load of $hite. I genuinely wish him all the best

{Ed007's Note - Don't get me started on Shearer!}

12.) Nah! Please don't start ed 007 on Shearer or anyone else, just try to wean him off Lennon. I find it hard to understand how you thought that I thought he was dead . After all I asked the question was he frantically searching .
Surely if I thought he was dead I wouldn't post that .

{Ed007's Note - Just with the way you said about destroying the memory people have of him, my memories will give me nightmares for years to come!}

13.) Ed Its not worth it, waking up at night in a cold sweat . That only leads to bad temper and awkwardness the next day .
Forget about Lennon and live in peace.

{Ed007's Note - It's not healthy lol, I had a dream that he was hanging about with Joey Barton!}

06 Jun 2014 14:29:14
Obviously the appointment of Ronny Deila isn't the huge name a lot of us wanted and some expected but I'm delighted we didn't go down the Henrik Larsson route, that was a disaster waiting to happen, the weight of expectation would have been unbearable. I'm willing to give the new man every chance to prove himself and he certainly seems to have a set plan and style of how he wants his teams to play, something we were definitely lacking under Lennon.

Speaking of Lennon, he really hasn't covered himself in glory today and I think he has twigged that the club were already looking to replace him this summer, does he really expect us to believe that someone who was supposedly going to be his assistant is now seen as the best candidate for the manager's job?

So Lennon and his ego seem to think he was that good a manager our new one was only good enough to be his assistant.

What happened to him having input on who was to replace him? Considering he has been in Portugal on holiday since he left Celtic Park two weeks ago I'm not buying that, he should have came out and backed Ronny Deila rather than speak of his disappointment that Keane didn't want the job, he knows a lot of supporters still hang on his every word and I don't think he should be talking Deila down when he hadn't even been announced yet.

Hopefully Deila gets the backing of the board and on-field improvements will unite the support behind the team. We all know how the synergy between the club, the team and the fans can create something special at Celtic.

So welcome to THE greatest football club in the world Mr Deila - I have a feeling that this could be the start of a beautiful friendship.

Che Connolly.

1.) As long as he wins the treble gets to the last 8 of CL, plays free flowing attacking football, gives youth a chance makes great signings, all the things the dastardly Lennon didn't do!

2.) 06 Jun 2014 19:08:15
Ha ha Mallybhoy, you're right though, to satisfy some on here that's the least he'll have to do

3.) I think the last 8 of the CL is a bit much Mally but it's refreshing to see more and more fans have started admitting to Lennon's many blunders and failures as manager. It's just a pity they couldn't do it while he was here, we might have some more trophies in the cabinet and more money in the bank or invested in the team.

But thankfully there's no longer any need to worry about it, no doubt it's not the last we've heard from Lennon and his ego about Celtic and what they should be doing but he's not our problem any longer, we've finally moved on.

Who knows, we might actually get the club back to where it belongs and fans might get the club and team they so rightly deserve.

4.) 06 Jun 2014 22:56:31
Have read what Lennon has said Che and can't really see where he has been disrespectful to anyone.

5.) It was bad enough giving it to Lennon when he was our Manager. Lennon is now past tense, we should move on and support Our new Manager.

So let's get this straight Tam, everything good that has happened to the club in the last 4 years (3 in a row, last 16, signing Wanyama/Hooper, praising the GB etc) is down to Lennon but all the bad (f**ked in Europe, embarrassed in domestic cups and the rotten moves in the transfer market, bad-mouthing the GB etc) can, and should, be blamed on someone else?

Lennon has had worse results than John Barnes and Tony Mowbray combined, you probably supported them as well like the good wee consumer sheep you are.

Take your blinkers off Tam, as my granda used to say, in the land of the blind the one eyed man is king.

Appointing Henrik Larsson would be nothing more than a PR stunt to sell season tickets, he has nowhere near the experience needed to manage the club.

We've finally moved away from the jobs for the Bhoys syndrome that the manager has to be "Celtic-minded' and I for one applaud that.

It sounds like you want to see Deila fail, Jamie just to get your hero in as manager.

I'm willing to bet that Larsson will never be good enough to manage Celtic, what he done as a player shouldn't even come into it, as a manager he has done nothing to be considered a good enough option. Let's face it, he's hardly running riot with Falkenbergs.

Celtic fans are letting sentiment cloud their judgement, haven't we paid the price enough for that over the years?

Plus there's no way Larsson would do a Dalglish and jeopardise his legacy.

According to the #celticfamily on twatter you only get the chance to manage Celtic once, Larsson said no so he's made his bed.

Why not get behind Deila, Jamie - his arse hasn't even dented the manager's chair yet!
