Ed, hearing from a couple of decent contacts that shelvey may b the last signing if we get to group stage. Heard anything?
It's a bit "out there" but more believable than the yaya/ scheinsteiger posts.

Stevo Dundee

{Ed007's Note - Not a peep, Stevo.}

1.) 18 Aug 2016 01:28:19
Newcastle bought him for about £15M did they not?

2.) 18 Aug 2016 03:07:58
your right Kevin he just signed for Newcastle.

3.) 18 Aug 2016 06:20:23
see this marquee signing, do we need it? I would be happy going into the season with the team we have got, obviously if its Stevie G or BS I would be over the moon as well as many others, but IMO its not going to happen! The team looks great just now, just the keeper situation needs sorted! HH.

4.) 18 Aug 2016 07:37:57
cant see why people are talking about SG, he's past it in my opinion, fantastic player in his day, one of the best.

5.) 18 Aug 2016 07:45:31
Brown needs help in there mcgregor is OK but not cl class that should be the signing imo.

6.) 18 Aug 2016 08:32:15
Is Shelvey not on about 80k a week? Sure Newcastle didn't add on a relegation clause into the deal.

7.) 18 Aug 2016 09:08:12
The composure SG would bring and his passing ability even when stationary would be an excellent addition. Brown has been great recently with his tenasity. He would fill that roll even better if he had a SG character backing him up.

8.) 18 Aug 2016 09:59:12
Is shelvey not rubbish?

9.) 18 Aug 2016 10:25:52
You beat me to it DRB

If he is the Marquee i'd rather we just bought a 2 man tent.

10.) 18 Aug 2016 10:34:33
To be honest I don't think we need that creative midfielder if big Rogic stays on his game he is getting better each game. If anything I would go for a right back and a young striker.

11.) 18 Aug 2016 10:36:13
I wouldn't say no to a marquee signing but it has to be someone that adds to the team and not just a big name for the sake of it.

12.) 18 Aug 2016 12:05:33
It's Yaya Toure.

13.) 18 Aug 2016 13:03:11
i heard that months ago HT, wanted to play with his bro again b4 he retires, but also heard its a sweetner for teirney if he keeps progressing the way he is, so if that's the case he can do one imo lol.

14.) 18 Aug 2016 13:03:29
As long as there are good birthday cake shops near Celtic Park. Yaya will be most disappointed if there aren't! lol.

15.) 18 Aug 2016 21:42:54
Although it would be exciting to get one in I'm not particularly fussed with a marquee signing be happy if we just shifted out all the dead wood and got a few more decent squad players agree with most Mcgregor isn't good enough for Europe yet and the fact KC is still there is a concern.

22 May 2014 19:07:38
Also hearing that keane being heavily talked about.
Hope not!
DD seems very keen to go down this route

Stevo Dundee

1.) Think that would be a big mistake.

2.) We would have a very small squad this time next year if R Keane gets the job .

15 Jan 2014 21:21:04
Apparently Griffiths' agent has been approached by Celtic over last few days and sounded out about a move this window. According to Griffiths a figure of £1.25m mentioned.
Wolves in no rush to sell, he would be keen on move as fallen out of favour last few months and getting a bit of stick now off fans when he does play.
I've mentioned this one before and got a few negatives or unbelievables buy no reason to lie. I'm on here regularly and not going to post something to then look like an person.

Stevo Dundee

1.) 15 Jan 2014 21:53:22
A lot of people seem to h8 the idea of him signing, but a lot of the same people then go on to say what about signing May, McKay and even Boyd because there scoring in Scotland.
Was he not top GS in Scotland last year

2.) Wolves manager: “There has been no enquiry or bid or any contact from Celtic to Jez Moxey, Kevin Thelwell or myself at any level, ” he said.

“Leigh’s agent is someone we speak to pretty regularly and he hasn’t mentioned anything.

“At present I’d suggest it’s all media speculation.

“Whether that builds up towards the end of the window and that changes, I don’t know.

“But I can only speak for where we are now and we’ve had no approach or enquiry for that player.”

3.) I think Griffiths is a really good striker - better than Stokes. Better than Pukki - think Griffiths would be a good strike partner for Balde. Ian L

4.) He is a good player works hard and produces a bit of magic been a while since we had a forward who scores screamers

5.) To the unnamed poster quoting wolves, don't believe everything you're drip fed through the media.
This came from a friend of mine who is very close mates with Griffiths and in contact with him on an almost daily basis.
I'm not here to justify my contacts or what I've been advised. What I do know though is that what I said previously is entirely factual.
If he signs, then I think its decent value and will certainly be the 20-30 goal scorer in SPFL we lack. Whether he can then step up to CL is open to debate

6.) Bit shockin the amount of fans slatin this transfer if it happened considering we are screaming out for a goalscorer which grffiths is scorin 20+ in a rank rotten hibs team. How can people say he's not cl class if he's not been given a chance yet? imo he's defo worth the risk considering the amount we have spent on unproven strikers who can't or couldn't hack it even in the spl when this lad has proved he can score 20+. I'd be more than happy if he signed

GunnieBhoy

7.) Agree with that, he works hard for he team, scores goals of the cuff, don't think he'll go to celtic but I wish he could

8.) What happened to the £6 million striker?

Joca

9.) Griffiths is a finisher great pace ( something we lack up front. Good feet wicked free kick out and out finisher plays on the shoulder ideal hooper replacement scored goals wherever he has been . Why spend six million on a striker from championship or abroad when you can get this young scottish talent for 1 or 2 million it makes sense to me ( oh and well done for signing johanson he looks a real talent .

Chalky bhoy.

10.) Monkeybhoy, Michael Higdeon (Motherwell) was the top goalscorer. Griffiths & Billy McKay were equal in 2nd place. ~ Mrs E

11.) I really hope this deal gets done think he would be a good signing I just think about Scott McDonald 700-750k and he banged in the goals for us and did well in the champions league I think Griffith could be the striker we are looking for take the pressure off commons and another plus young Scottish international.

12.) 16 Jan 2014 09:19:45
Just another Stokes

ML

13.) If Griffiths is the answer to all our problems then there's a serious problem at Parkhead. The guy is a d!ck and doesn't deserve to be anywere near our famous shirt. He could score 40 a season bit either way he will cause problems, mess up our dressing room. If he was that big headed at hibs can you imagine what he will be like with us? Pukki and balde up front for me. We don't need a striker. We need lenny to play some of the guys we have. Atajic, balde and even watt then there's the big iclandic bhoy.

A lot of fans are getting mighty tired of what we see as our club rolling over when there should be a greater challenge to fines, charges etc.
If the club as a whole want to take the stance of banning "non appropriate" - my words- behaviour then it must then be a blanket stance starting with visiting supporters also. I will expect that due to massive damage costs by a rangers support last year that we can assume their fans will be banned for a couple of games this season? If we want to be all high n mighty and follow the letter to the law then I expect the board to administer a zero tolerance.

Stevo Dundee

1.) 21 Jul 2017 22:04:29
Stevo, Brendan has requested that the GB keep the heid and play the game. We have the best manager we've had in a while so I hope the GB go along with his wishes. Hail Hail.

2.) 21 Jul 2017 21:54:59
lawwell just pandering to the dup.

3.) 21 Jul 2017 23:00:08
Hahaha James! To be honest though I face palmed when I read bigots like Nelson 'Red Sky' McCausland and Jamie 'Fweg Pwotester' Bwyson trying to take the moral high ground on the subject this week. If Carlsberg did irony the DUP would be doing the 12 steps.

4.) 21 Jul 2017 23:03:10
surely there's no political moves within the boardroom jamesy.

5.) 21 Jul 2017 23:46:37
lawwell just out to keep the handshakers happy as per usual, just look at him allowing that mob to move the game in belfast.

14 Oct 2016 23:47:46
JP has gone, can we expect PL to follow at end of season ed?
What lies ahead? PL is not everyone's favourite but I feel that we may look back and regret it if he also leaves without an equal replacement to fight our cause beyond Scottish boundaries.
Whats your thougts.

Stevo Dundee

{Ed007's Note - I wouldn't be at all surprised to see it announced at some point that Lawwell is leaving at the end of the season. I'd be more surprised if he was still here next season as the Club restructures behind the scenes.}

1.) 15 Oct 2016 13:59:26
I wonder if he'll be remembered fondly after he's gone. He's rightly received a lot of stick for his failure to invest in the first team at times but he'll leave us in a fantastic position financially and he's done great work in "promoting the brand" as he calls it.

{Ed007's Note - I have no doubts that if Lawwell had stuck to doing what he does best he would be held in a much higher regard by the support. When it comes to the financial side of the game he is peerless in Scottish football and has done a magnificent job for us in that respect.}

2.) 15 Oct 2016 14:19:50
He has done a great job on the financial side but like Ed alluded to he has lead the fans down the garden path on the playing side of things. More than once he has spoken about 6 million pound players and cheaped out when it came to the crunch.

Basically his BS reeks as bad as Skinnybhoys.

3.) 15 Oct 2016 16:51:02
I'm sure someone posted on the forum that he heard Lawwell was leaving at the end of the season and the current manager from Glasgow Airport is taking over from him.

How true that is remains to be seen.

While I don't like Lawwell on account of him having a go at fans from time to time, there is no denying that he has done a good job in his tenure with regards our finances.

I personally won't be celebrating his departure if this turns out to be true, until I see who is replacing him.

4.) 15 Oct 2016 17:48:38
Forget to say in last post.

One of the things I admire most about Lawwell is his ability to strike deals and get what is best for Celtic. He has done this time and time again with commercial deals and player transfers, not to mention the fact that he has been great at opening new markets for Celtic and thus increasing our income.

5.) 15 Oct 2016 18:41:48
In my opinion lawwel will be a big lose to our club if and when team goes.

6.) 15 Oct 2016 18:45:48
Lawwell's ability may only be recognised years after he is gone . Lawwell didn't suffer fools lightly and was never afraid of taking the unpopular decision, if he thought it was the correct one . How many other people wouldn't have been tempted to go the Rangers route of EBT's when he and the Celtic Board were put under unbearable pressure to keep up with the free - spending Rangers . I remember when all our fans will calling for his Head and blaming him for not matching Rangers spending . Ed has alluded to him taking on other roles than his Financial duties, but surely that was lack of guidance and lack of control by the Board who probably allowed one man too much responsibilities and too much power . I don't think we can blame P Lawwell for that, it's a human thing to become power greedy and power hungry.

7.) 15 Oct 2016 18:50:59
Whos likely to succeed him if he leaves then Ed? Or rather who would you like to see in his job next season?

{Ed007's Note - I couldn't even guess mate, how many people had heard of Pedro before he rolled up his heated driveway? I'd imagine it will be someone from a business background that most of us won't have a clue about.
What Rab says rings a bell, someone posted that it was a woman that runs an airport.}

8.) 15 Oct 2016 19:53:44
There was also rumours about someone who is/ was at Norwich.

9.) 15 Oct 2016 20:44:56
Amanda McMillan ce @ Glasgow Airport , let's hope not the woman is as good a chief as warbola is a manager 😞.

10.) 17 Oct 2016 17:19:24
With John Park gone and us have no idea of the qualities and job description of his replacement, it may be better to make haste slowly with replacing P Lawwell . To have 3 new people in those key positions within 12 months may be too soon .
It will probably be necessary to replace Lawwell but maybe better in 2018 rather than 2017.

01 Sep 2016 17:31:11
Ed, can we sign players who have been given "frees"?
Also, did u manage to take a look at the £s in/ out this summer? Can't check back far enough through last nites posts
Cheers.

Stevo Dundee

{Ed007's Note - As long as they were freed before the window closes, Stevo, otherwise you can't register them until January.

Celtic players in:

S.Sinclair - £4m
K.Ajer - £800k
M.Dembele - £500k
D.de Vries - £500k
C.Gamboa - £400k
K.Toure - Free transfer

Celtic players out:

S.Johansen - £2m (According to someone in London it was a £3m + £2m add-on for promotion.)
S.Scepović - £1m
D.Fisher - £200k
C.Kazim-Richards - Undisclosed

Players freed: Anthony Stokes, Carlton Cole, Charlie Mulgrew, Calum Waters, Jack Breslin and Stuart Findlay.

Players out on loan: S.Allan, M.Duffy, P.McMullan, C.McCabe, F.Kelleher, J.Lindsay, J.Thomson, A.Nesbitt and L.Donnelly.

1.) 01 Sep 2016 23:49:00
Ed/ eds thank you personally for your commitment to this great page. Especially through the last transfer window, boy it was hectic with shot and uz kept with it. Thanks great site, much appreciated.

{Ed007's Note - You're very welcome, Ciaran and your post is really appreciated too. It's an absolute (swear) pleasure to do the site, well most of the time lol I'm just disappointed that the final day of the window was such a damp squib for us Tims.
I'm sure a Treble and the CL nights will make up for it.}

2.) 01 Sep 2016 23:06:50
Also Ciaran Lafferty was released along with Blair Kidd. Lafferty is with Dunfermline and I don't think Kidd has been taken on with anyone. Innes Murray is now with Hibs.

3.) 01 Sep 2016 22:58:49
Ed, I know where all the players who are loaned out ended up but didn't know that Colin McCabe was back out on loan. Did he end back up with Stenny?

Thanks
Stengo.

{Ed007's Note - I've checked and he's still showing up as registered with them.}

4.) 02 Sep 2016 08:16:02
So still the same 5m spent every summer as usual

So much for champions league money

But on bright side I think we've broke through top wage barrier.

5.) 02 Sep 2016 08:43:18
Janko loan.

6.) 02 Sep 2016 09:26:13
Thanks Ed.

{Ed007's Note - No probs.}

7.) 02 Sep 2016 00:46:10
Thanks Ed. taking account of all the ins/ outs inc wages etc plus excluding the unbudgeted income do you feel we could have invested more this window? A lot of fans now saying the next window but previously its always said Jan is a no no so why different this time?
Is reaching the CL group stage the glass ceiling for our club n many fans.

{Ed007's Note - The money for further investment was certainly there but I'm more disappointed that we didn't strengthen the squad than that we didn't spend a lot of money - if that makes sense. I've said all along I'm more than happy going into the CL with a Brown/Bitton/Rogic 3 man midfield but I'm concerned about Rogic's long term fitness if he's playing every week, in fact if any of those three get injured we're down at the likes of McGregor, who I do like but for me he's an SPFL player at this point in time.}

8.) 02 Sep 2016 14:41:53
@Belfast Celt - We don't have any CL money yet as that does not get paid out until the end of the season.

9.) 02 Sep 2016 15:00:10
If we didn't buy on the closing day because B R was unwilling to take a chance on players, he hadn't properly checked them over . Those he had checked over could not be signed for what ever reason .
If that is the case I am happy enough .
We have had a diet of people signed on closing day because they were strikers, defenders etc.

26 Aug 2016 17:06:25
Ed, can u clarify rules re solidarity payments.
Utd chief, Thompson drinks in my local n categorically denied they were getting the payment. Would have thought he'd know for certain.

Stevo Dundee

{Ed007's Note - So would I.}

1.) 27 Aug 2016 01:10:41
Another classic reply from Ed007 lmfao.

20 Jun 2016 19:31:37
Ed, is there any interest in Harry Souttar from Dundee United?
I posted last season that we were apparently keeping an eye on him and see Stoke had a £250k offer rejected
I know it's not a pressing signing but worth a punt n loaned back to Utd?

Stevo Dundee

{Ed007's Note - Not that I know of, Stevo.}

1.) 22 Jun 2016 00:38:19
I don't think we can afford to buy people and then loan them back . That's fine for EPL teams who can't get their money spent quick enough . We shouldn't be using R D and N. L scatter gun approach . If we want Soutter or the young striker from Drumbarton fine, that's ok and if they are not yet 1st team material, train and develop them for under age teams and hopefully eventually the ist team squad.

Forward playing positions signed under Parks time
Killen
Mizuno
Fortune
Rasmussen
Kamara
Murphy
Ljungberg
Bangura
Rabiu
Brozek
Miku
Lassad
Balde
Boerrigter
Pukki
Fridjonsson
berget
Tonev
Wakaso
Scepovic
Guidetti
GMS
Duffy
Cifti
Cole
CKR

That's what I can think of off top of my head.
What has that cost in fees, wages etc? The few big transfer fees he gets credit for have well sucked up these costs.

Forwards have been a huge signing negative but if you dig further and look at all our signings the question which needs addressed is why Parks still in a job, a simple kpi would and should have addressed this long before now.

Why in that he's no where near replacing anyone in our midfield so what's the point
Why, just because a mob mascarding as a big team put in a bid we need to? Different level altogether now, wake up
Finally, mcgeogh plus money- assume ure not a regular football follower or just someone creeping around on a forum u shouldn't b

Have heard this through here as well.
Also, from a close source, that Souttar not signing a new contract (parental involvement & issues with chairman) will see a move on pre- contract in January.
Supposedly a figure already agreed but I find that hard to believe what with 3 players leaving in last 6 months and where the boy wld fit in. Still only 18 but his new midfield position means there's no place in our current set up. CH I think he's too lightweight.
Only sharing what I heard remember!

Ed007 has had it in for Gordon from the start .
From memory never a plaudit but constant negativity.
The lad was offered a deal, no fee, maybe Ed007 can confirm the wages but I guess not major, and over the season has proved an asset. Who would the Ed prefer to be in goal bearing in mind all the constraints?
Also, does the Ed analysis all players mistakes with same scrutiny? As fellow poster mentioned, other players more at fault for Euro failures but I suppose easy to overlook when you have a "target"

But remember, we've got to respect "the culture"!
Again, last couple of days show these Neanderthals for what they are. Irony, if that's the right ćhoice of word is that they think they command respect when in reality it's vile disgust any normal thinking human has for them.
Society problem is that govt downwards won't tackle this in the correct fashion.

Smacks of nothing more than nepotism. For those who can't criticise BR that's the reality. Low key friendly or not, there are young guys coming through the ranks who must be disillusioned right now.
Who's paying the costs of the "intelligent" and "technically gifted" player that is Anton (surprisingly without a club! ) on this trip!
Poor decision by manager on this one. I doubt the top teams, in which we regard ourselves globally, would do same. Might be wrong n I see Jose, Jurgen, Pep n overseas managers do same.
