It's looking like O'Riley could be off, apparently two EPL sides interested, and when a player posts about "The Celtic Family" you just KNOW he is off
Realistically what can we get for him is £20m asking too much.

ORiley should break the transfer fee we have received in my opinion. Best player we’ve had in 20 years.

£20M is the minimum we should be asking, Tim. He still has 3 years on his deal and he's been fantastic for us, particularly this season. He's had some big moments in the derbies and CL games too. Admittedly, he had a dip for a few games after intense January speculation but overall he's been brilliant.

If its to the epl then minimum 20 million with atleast as 15% sell on. After 2 seasons down there he could well be off for 80 million. We need to make sure we get as much as we possibly can.

Forgot to add, I'd prefer to keep him if possible for the champions league games and then sell in January if he actually wants to go. Id love us to have a strong squad for europe and actually not get embarrassed this time.

We're cash rich don't sell for once and break the mold.

It wouldn't be fair holding O'Riley back when he can at least triple his wages in a bigger league.

Hoping MOR might stick around for champions league next season. If he was to be sold surely we must be looking at minimum 25 million with a 15 -20% sell on clause.

Agree with you there Buzz. The Atletico move would have been very appealing in January so there was probably a gentleman's agreement for him to stick around, help us win the league and then he'd be allowed to move on. We need to try and keep our best players but there has to be a willingness to let them progress their careers in order to keep attracting these guys.

{Ed007's Note - It was a loan with an option to buy Atletico offered Celtic, it never even got to the stage of it being an issue, Celtic told the Spaniards and MOR's agent there would be no loan and that was it, dead in the water straight off the bat.
They wanted MOR on loan, Celtic hunted them, it was only because Atletico had contacted the agent that Celtic even bothered informing him of their decision.

For what it's worth, if we're playing 'what do you value him at? ' - I wouldn't want any less than 25m with a good sell on peecentage, let's say 15%.

{Ed007's Note - I said to Ter earlier, £30m + 20% add-on

Bids should start at £25m, we should get a good sell-on clause of around 10-15% also.
Depending on what team he ends up going to we should also ask if we can get him back on a 12mth loan where he could possibly be recalled in Jan to help us our in the CL.

Yours sounds better Ed. I was trying my best to do it without my tinted specs. There's always that feeling that we win't command the rates other leagues do for pretty average players. When you think that muppet Silva cost 35m, MOR should be at least 70m. Now I know that's not how valuations work but a part of why we wouldn't get that is the fact we're in Scotland.

{Ed007's Note - Eventually we will sell a player for £70m - it won't be in my lifetime I don't think - simply down to inflation.}

Fair enough Ed. Still, the club could have seen the dollar signs and been tempted by the option to buy (I wouldn't have and said that on here at the time) . Players need to be allowed to move on but the club have to make sure their own interests are met as well. It's a balancing act that we deal with very well for the most part in my opinion.

{Ed007's Note - ?

He will easily go for 30m plus. No question. Especially if more than 1 club interested. We hold the aces with his contract still a few years to run. Best midfielder we have had since petrov.

Think the club will be looking for £30M and 15/ 20 percent sell on. I also think that’s what we will have for our summer transfer budget.

If us fans and our Manager and Board have any interest in attempting to improve our results in Europe we cannot contemplate selling any of our top players and certainly not M O ‘R . We are not going to buy as good a player as any of our top players. It will take a couple of seasons integrating a player of the calibre we are likely to buy, to coach a new player to the standard of what our best are currently attaining . Selling a top player immediately sets us back poorer . Yet we want to be better . If we want to keep our top players we have to ignore wages cap and pay the wages we need to play . Remember very many EPL players earning in. excess £50k per week are bankrupt before they are 40.
