Must say was a bit disgusted by the Motherwell goal, or should I say the build up to it, but when I caled down I was left wondering are there any precedents for this behaviour.
Must say it always seems that the team that puts the ball out of play is not the team of the injured player as a gesture of goodwill not to continue playing whilst an opponent is on the ground in need of assistance. Then when the throw in is taken it is given back to the team which was in possession as a sign of recognition as they were not obliged to put the ball out.
I'm not saying I liked what happened and in fact I didn't but was wondering if the same rule of sportsmanship apply on this occasion when it was Celtic themselves who put the ball out. Curious to know what people thin. Thank God at the end of the day it didn't do us any real damage as we son comfortably in the end.

There is no written law regarding giving the ball back, it’s generally given back as a show of sportsmanship. What really angered me was the shocking display from Kevin Clancy, dishing out yellow cards like confetti to Celtic players, not just the cards his handling of the game left a lot to be desired, and Dougie (red card x3) Ross wasn’t any better, the standard of officiating is at an all time low. oldkilly.

2.) 24 Feb 2019 18:55:53
I have only seen the one in the past when a team scored. They let the opposition walk the ball up into the net. No chance of that happening in our game. Good to see KT back. Young Henderson had a good game. We have quite a few talented young players waiting for there chance in the first team. We have had some amount of injuries this season to key players. Onwards to Tynecastle and Easter Rd and a home game V Aberdeen. Win those 3 and the league's done and dusted. 🍀.

3.) 24 Feb 2019 18:56:19
As a few of us have pointed out it's not the opponents we really need to worry about in this league it's the blatantly biased and slanted officiating, uneven and inconsistent rulings and lack of protection.
There are too many of these clowns at present - in fact there is probably a team and three subs trying desperately to obstruct us.
Fortunately it's going to take a lot more than cheats to stop us.

On Sunday we will continue our drive towards 8 in a row whilst motherwell are going for 6 in a row and I'm just saddened by the fact that we won't see our Captain get the chance to go for 3 in a row.

I hope big Boyd has recovered enough from his serious arm injury to stick a couple of goals past Foderingham tonight.

hopefully the big lump of wood might deflect a shot by accident into the sevco net, you can only hope haha.

The big fat Sevco apologist shouldn't even be in the squad.

"Lord grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can, And the wisdom to know the difference"
I agree to some extent with everything that has been said on here after the match but I think the wisdom of the serenity prayer needs to be applied. No amount of money spent is going to create a team that can genuinely compete at this level whilst we compete in Scotland. The English Championship can pay higher wages and even if we could afford their wages the better players don't want to come here. It is useless howling at the moon. We do not have the power to change this.
What can we change? I believe we have a very, very good manager and i don't believe we would be celebrating a double treble or invincible year or be hopeful for a treble treble this year without him at the helm. BR maybe needs to change tactics according who we are playing. Playing the ball out from the back is a very good policy as hoofing it up the park is 50/ 50 who ends up with it. However we have seen in the league with lesser competition that if the put in the effort and press us high it is possible to beat us. I mean if a team like hearts can beat us 4-0 with high pressing who should be surprised that Valencia beat us 2-0 Last night we were punished for a couple of errors but I can think of another 2 or 3 in our area that could easily have been punished. I honestly believe that at times we need to defend in 10 and boot the ball up the pitch if we are to have a chance of beating better opposition, win ugly rather than lose because when I think of playing the Celtic Way that does not include losing.

We all want the team to improve and be more competitive in Europe, but we will never be more than we are at the moment if we revert to 1980s Wimbledon long ball tactics every time we come up against a team we think are better. We would not get better results either this way as you don't automatically "win ugly" just because you put 10 men behind the ball. Good European teams will more often than not rip that system to pieces.
These players need to experience trying to play their own game against the best opposition possible so that we improve our football style over time, and I think we can play good football on our day against all but the very very best teams.

2.) 15 Feb 2019 14:13:49
Two good posts. I agree with IOG that we shouldn’t change our tactics though. It might get the odd result in the short term but longer term, we need to stick to the plan and try a develop a game to complete. Bottom line is, we played a team that was assembled with £150M and they looked every bit a £150M team. We just need to deal with it.

3.) 16 Feb 2019 10:56:37
Thank you Isleofgreen and COYBIG for your replies you have convinced me in that I was wrong in latter part of post in that changing tactics against superior opposition is not the solution but rather practice and experience so as to cut out stupid errors. Unfortunately playing in Scotland we will get neither.

When Abraham Lincoln said "You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all the people all of the time" he definitely wasn't thinking about Celtic supporters during a transfer window.
For me irrespective of who comes in or who goes out the fact that many of our more consistent players have signed extended contracts with most recently young Henderson and our Captain, coupled with the fact that young Dembele has entrusted his imediate future to us and hasn't followed the example of that great "disppearing talent" Feruz has all been a great bit of business for us. On top of that to hear Weah speak of us as a family and Burke want to extend his loan after only a couple of weeks gives an idea of the atmosphere in our "boyd-divided" locker room. I think it's not so easy to find players willing to come who are of the quality required and who will not only play well for the team but will also maintain the harmony which exists.
I really cannot see how we will fail to do a treble treble unless we have a one off bad game in the cup.

donjim. are you sure your not Peter in disguise. lol

Seriously though, great post, totally agree about trying to get quality players to come to SPFL. in Brendan We Trust.

2.) 31 Jan 2019 09:31:22
No I'm not Peter but I wouldn't be as big a critic of him as many on here. I look at the last three years and I see an invincible year, back to back trebles with a good chance of making it a treble treble this year and I think if Peter had released funds to sign Messi and Ronaldo and mayde to bring back Virgil would we honestly have won any more than that. Champions League, possibly, but then again if you look at PSG and the money they have spent does anyone really believe that you can buy the Champuons League.
In Brendan we trust but I also happen to trust the man who gave us Brendan even if that's not a popular position.

3.) 31 Jan 2019 09:42:48
👏👏 great post don. Too many of our fans look at bank balances and expect more like you say what is more? Most successful side in me lifetime and see no way that’s not going to continue 🍀.

4.) 31 Jan 2019 13:00:04
Totally agree and I still think there’s even better times ahead.

5.) 31 Jan 2019 13:49:14
We have done ok in the transfer window . We have a couple in who are far better than we could buy . We have 7/ 8 players out injured, but have won al our January games easing up and usually v pleasing on eye .
I am happy enough with club actually spending very little as there is no point in the club spending £8-10m on a couple players we are not really sure we really want even if they are positions we want to fill, we cannot buy them until we have properly scouted them, short cuts in this department can lead to Commper .
We know it is easier to buy poor players than to move them on.

If Morelos were to come to us I would support him (hope Idon't have to eat those words) but I don't believe it would ever happen. Over there he is a big fish in a wee pond whilst here he would rarely get into the starting eleven. I agree with everyone with regards to his temperament and diving ability and that he hasn't scored in big games. These are facts that can't be disputed. I may differ with my interpretation of the facts. I think he is a good old fashioned poacher and if you get the ball to him in the bo he will score (not always, as shown against us) . I think the fact that he doesn't score in big games is not so much that he bottle it but that because the quality of the defenders etc he rarely gets the opportunuty to score as the ball doesn't get to him.

I think if the sevconians were to analyse the Alfredo Morelos situation they would probably drive him away from Ibrox rather than look for 20 m that they will never get because he has costthem the league. How many points have they dropped because he has failed to score against etter opposition and how many points have they dropped because he was suspended and couldn't play. If it wasnt for his disciplinary record etc WE WOULD PROBABLY BE CHASING sEVCO. I hope he stays at Rangers as his playing for Rangers does as much as anything to guarantee us the TEN and Beyond. ALFREDO WE LUV U hahaha.

Kev83 I agree it's better to play out from the back but one way to avoid silly mistakes is to hoof it when necessary instead of feeling thaat you have to make a pass especially when the defence is under pressure as it gives them time to regroup.

Could it be that these errors have been caused by trying to play the ball out of defence the BR way instead of just hoofing the ball as far away as possible?

Could just be, if you're not hanging around go now. Imagine if the husband said to the wife i'm leaving you 4 months but in the meantime i'm going to stay until after the anniversary because i want the feast and the presents, i wonder what the wife would say?

Surely McCoist must have finished his gardening leave by now and be available. Would be in our budget too if he limits pie consumption. There is no need to fix something if it's not broken. Apart from the fact that I like Lenny and his passion I cannot understand why he should not be given the chance if he delivers the treble this year. I know there are many on here who do not see Lenny as the man to take us forward and, as it would be pretty hard to improve on an invincible year, I presume they must see European Football as the measure of our improvement. That being the case then I think BRexit was a backward step as he never managed to get us into the last 16 of the Champions League. Or perhaps some on here believe that if we get Rose or Martinez or other names mentioned here we will win the Champions League.

Rather take a so called step backwards with a true fan who in the past has endured death threats etc without walking away than another charlatan like BR.

I will support anyone who manages Celtic even as I did BRexit when he led the team like lambs to slaughter against PSG rather than defend like Dundee yesterday and as Mallythetally said above BRexits away record this year was not great. I have to admit though that BRexit leaves a bitter taste in the mouth and I don't think I could support anyonee coming here telling us that he has always supported Celtic since he was a wee boy and will give 110% to make us great and break more records etc as I believe that the only one who has earned the right to say anything like that is LENNY. He knows what all of this means to us as he is one of us. So whilst I will support whoever it is I would be over the moon if Lenny gets the job fulltime.

Agree with most of what you say Bob except for the part about "good luck" as I think you make your own luck. It's true we are not playing at our best and had difficulty breaking down an eleven man defence. I think we miss Rogic or someone who can split the defence and open the door with a sublime pass but is it luck that door eventually crumbles becaause it has been battered so much. It is true that sometimes you can run out of time and "the luck" doesn't come so thank God we have a team that plays to the death and doesn't settle for a draw. Speaking of luck, was it luck that denied us an obvious penalty.

Agree with both of you that it was some team and would probably beat the present team even though they didn't have invincible year or trble trebles etc but also to point that it didn't cost megabuccks to assemle (I don't even want to try and imagine what those players would be worth in todays market) . The rangers team thaat season wason paper I believe better than us and certainly cost a lot more as after winning 9 in a row thay spent another 14.5 million to secure the ten. Even with Laudrup, Gattuso, Amoruso, Moore etc they couldn't do it. I don't think either us or them will get this close again and we don't need to spend megabucks but we need a united team willing to give everything to achieve it and than means players and fans united and not fans constantly blasting the players.
