Interesting that four of the five games today went to extra time. Judging on the last two games Paradise is no longer a fortress, more like a Wendy House. Thank God we play Rangers at Ibrox.

My team for saturday:

Brown

Forrest Julien, Bitton Odsonne

Morgan Griffiths Ajer Christie

McGregor Boli

Don't see much point in wasting time trying to win league cup and another little bit of tinkering with the team should stand us in good stead for the leaague campaign.

I think Brown would do better in goal than Bain after seeing his potential handling skills last night.

Play the youth team. At least they have a defence. Morgan and MJ ahead of Sinclair in a huge game is laughable. Calmag at LB is disgraceful. Lennons starting 11 and formation was horrendous. Every single fan was dumbfounded when the line up was released.60 thousand could see it ending badly with that team and formation. Kennedy had seen what happened at ibrox when BR tried it with CM and MJ yet let's NL try it!

Don't think we played particularly well today but it is nice to see that even playing badly and a weak left hand side with Boli and Morgan and Ajer out of position etc we can still score 5 inside the 85 minute limit. So if we can do that with a weakened, makeshift team then I am staying positive even though I do see Rangers being more of a threat this season.
I know this will never happen but I would love to see Hayes and Sinclair on the left on wednesday night.

Even though it was a cricket score it's just not cricket when Celtic score in the 86th minute as it doesn't give the other teams a chance to win the league. So happy to see Griff back and doing what he does best but surely he should have done before the 86th minute.

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Gerrard is a muppet! St johnstone were poor but we made them look even worse. Some slick play and even better finishing. Roll on cluj.

Living in Rome I am a bit out of the loop and as I only watch Celtic games I don't know how good this Turnbull kid is as I don't recall him setting the heather on fire against us. I personally would tell him not to let the door slam on his way out as these types of negotiations should be done behind closed doors and now that it's all in the public arena the club cannot allow itself to be held to ransom by a 19 year old from Motherwell.

I'm left wondering that maybe he doesn't want to play for Celtic but has to negotiate as Motherwell have agreed to sell him to us and therefore making impossible requests to block the move. Maybe he's waiting on a call from the world's most successful club to give him a big contract - however I know nothing about him and for all I know he's a diehard Celtic fan like McGinn and BRexit.

As I said in an earlier post (somewhere) , one major differeence between Rodgers and KT is time. Rodgers can continue managing into his 70's like many others before him whilst on the other hand a players time i limited. Few can continue playing at the top level after ther mid 30's. KT was, is and as far as I am concerned always will be a Celt whilst thw manner of BR's leaving etc could quite easily have resulted in Celtic not winning the league last season. For me BR could easily have waited until May. KT obviously sees that to improve his game he needs to be tested week in and week out against the best and like it or not thatthe EPL where very goodplayers are more evenly spread around the various squads whereas Italy, Spain, Germany, France etc are a bit like 2-3 horse races. In an ideal world KT could have realized other dreams with us but unfortunaately its not a level playing field and I cannot see Celtic achieving another European title whilst we play in Scotland. I wish KT all the best and hope I live long enough to see him pull on the hoops again.

the site tuttomercatoweb in italian has Milan having talks with agent of Lovren and having thought about Ajer. Ruour probably originates in Italy ok but they haven't looked at Ajer just thought about him. For me a bit like the story of the Equadorian who said might come to us only for Lennon to say he had no interest.

Like everyone else I would be gutted to lose KT and until he actually goes I still have hope that he will stay for the 10. Surely 25m up front with add-ons only means that we would be willing to sell therefore Arsenal can speak with KT about a transfer but ultimately it is his decision whether to go or not as he has a contract with us.

with regards to selling Nitcham I think we have to wait until after he's spoken with the gaffer and if he is of the mindset which has been portrayed and its not just journalistic fantasy then I would get rid of him asap. I wouldn't even wait for someone to bid the clubs valuation as long as we make a profit I'd punt him. I certainly would not be in favour of holding on to him to we get what he's worth (he's no KT) as we would be paying good money for nothing. It would be like cutting of your d**k to spite your wife.

I hope KT stays as I hope we don't lose any of our bigger players. Having said that though no one is bigger than Celtic. I remember when KT came into the team thinking who the hel is thiss kid keeping Izzy out of the team. I was a big fan of Izzy and couldn't understand how they could play a kid in front of him and yet KT showed exactly why he was first choice. Izzy was not irreplaceable as I thought and neither will KT be irreplaceable when he goes. Non of our legends have been irreplaceable. If a player wants to leave in my opinion he shouldn't have to force through a move, we should thank them for their servicea and proceed to get the best deal possible. Honestly the only recent exit that jars with me is BRexit He refused to sell Boyata costing us millions and he thought he could do the same with Dembele. If he had sold both early in the window he could have gotten replacements and then here is the manner in which he left which leaves a sour taste.

I agree with everything on this thread even Sparkysbhoy. The thing is though I believe the bible when it says "spare the rod and spoil the child" (a favourite saying of my mum when the wooden spoon came out) I have no doubt my mum loved me to bits but that idnt stop her from using the wooden spoon, sarcasm, looks that could kill etc to keep us in line. It might seem like negativity but there would be love for Celtic (from the board down to the tea lady if we don't correct them when they make mistakes that a blind an on a gallopping horse could see and push the to be the best they can be.
Sometimes we need to thrown caution to the wind with the cheque book and not just by playing players out of position and bad tactics. I do agrr however if your not going to play Calmac in midfield he needs to play left back - LEFT BACK IN THE DRESSING ROOM.

Agree with Quin 1888 here as I think it is unfair to place all the responsability for the mess at the feet of Lennon. I was in favour of Lennon getting the job but he can't hide here He picked the team and also waitd until the death before putting on the substitutes and indeed when I saw Bayo coming on it was like the white flag of surrender ( absolutely nothing against Bayo as he could turn out to be a fantastic player for us) Cluj won off the pitch with their mindgames and they won on the pitch because of our tactics. The game has provided more questions than answers. Its true there are a lot of goals in the team it just looks like our policy is to score more than the others. Still feel sick and I live here in Rome, can only imagine what it must be like for you guys in Scotland.

Last time i felt like this was when we won 5-4 against Belgrade and went out on away goals. Over the two ties Cluj deserved it. Agree with all that has been said about the defence etc but I think we should give them time and let's see where we are in january. We have been spoilt with success over the last lot of years but i thought the holy grail was 10 in a row and not even BR managed to do anything in Europe.

Strange how fickle we all are! I can remember a few seasons back many on here would have taken the time to drive Forrest to another club if we could have sold him. I like to remember this when the temptation is to slate existing players. I am happy when Lenny says he does not have an automatic first eleven as each position needs at least two interchangeable players not one good and one average. I think the backup needs to be just as good otherwisw the team is weakened when first choice not available.

@United Ireland, I think its unfair to Link KT wih BRexit. A football players career is limited and indeed it is very few who are still playing at the top level after their mid thirties. On the other hand a manager can go on into his seventies. On top of that a player is only one bad foul away from his career being over as John Kennedy can testify. Of course like everyone I am gutted that KT is leaving but I don't think he is any less of a Celt for that as like all sportsmen he wants to test himself against better opposition, to be the best he can be. Unfortunately for us though I don't think we will be able to replace him, even if we were to spend the whole 25mil on a left back.
