Im a bit confused about the ineligable player situation. If he was suspended for 3 games an missed 3 games what's the problem? I read that he must be included in the squad before it counted as missing a game but why would you include a suspended player in a squad for a game?

Paulybhoy

1.) Apparently players need to be in the squad for a game if they want to serve their suspension.
The player in question wasn't in the squad for their 1st qualifiers game and so therefore wouldn't have been serving his suspension, and would therefore be illegible to play against us.

Apologies for the poor wording at some parts.

2.) Being in the squad doesn't mean in the match day squad, it means being a registered member of their CL squad list of 25 for that tie. They obviously thought they didn't need to register him for the st pats tie and he was only brought into the list of 25 for our tie. It's a shame for them as they were far and away the better team. But rules are rules and its a shocking mistake to make. The player who missed 2 pens in the first leg will be choking on his cornflakes this morning!

3.) I don't think its actually included in the playing squad but in the registered list of players submitted for the games. He was not registered so technically did not serve the requisite suspension. I also thought that Celtic had to submit a protest. did they? If not, and its a EUFA inspired investigation, then it may be deemed, weighing up the scorelines, actual time on the park etc., that a fine will be sufficient punishment (which we could not really grumble about). I am sure ED will clarify my thoughts.

4.) Clears it up then cheers! Hopefully a few bodies are brought in before the next game then

Is there anyone else out there who would rather a decent run to the europa league finals rather than a scudding in the champ group stages?

Paulybhoy

1.) No chance Pauly mate call me materialistic but of the two are one is a windfall and the other is "waashers"

2.) I love the champions league nights in paradise but would I swap any of it for Seville? Not a chance. Even in defeat that was one hell of a run.

3.) Will remind you of that jamiebhoy when we get the "Seville" stampede for final tix!
You'll no want one of course

4.) If we do make the Europe League I think we will struggle to go far .
