RIP John Keane.
One of the men who stepped up with his own funds (est. £1million) in the dark days when bankruptcy threatened and The Bunnet stepped in.

He was bestowed the honorary chairmanship of Celtic in 2013 as a reflection of the respect the club has for him, a title which he surely treasured.

As a further measure of the gratitude of Celtic, he was rewarded with the honour of raising the league title flag in 2013 at Celtic's 2-1 victory over Ross County.

A modest but important Celtic hero.

Another sitel says Enzo Maresca has agreed to be Celtic's coach.

He is asst to Pep at Man City who play in CL on Saturday so?

God I hope not. I know he may be a good coach but his one previous managerial stint was a disaster, he has poor tactical awareness and he played a number if players out of position. We cannot takea risk on an unknown. It would be a poor decision by the club. People said that about Ange but his extensive managerial history was full of winning leagu and cups. Thus won't be building on success. If he gets the job I thinking it will be due to our relationship with Man City owners.

2.) 09 Jun 2023 08:54:55
I've always felt the City connection was more Lawwell driven. If Ange leaving has annoyed DD and he has the bit between his teeth, then hopefully he'll ensure we go for someone with a bit of grandeur about them.

My mate mentioned that he heard Celtic have been given the go-ahead to sell alcohol at the ground in the Jock Stein stand?
Anyone else heard this?

TinyTim

1.) 16 May 2023 10:49:46
There's been approval for pre-match alcohol sales in a certain area of the stadium but I think it's a proper bar area. Can't remember where I heard it though.

2.) 16 May 2023 13:28:36
cannot see us being able to take a wee pint to our seats ?.

{Ed007's Note - Is this not old news since before Christmas?}

3.) 16 May 2023 13:42:02
Celtic opened a new bar inside the stadium about 6 months ago.
It’s at the corner of the North Stand and Jock Stein Stand.
It’s opened throughout the day and weekends to the public.
It’s ideal to get a pint before and after the Celtic Tours.

I went in to check it out a few months ago, with my Dad and Son.
We got a few drinks and snacks like baguettes Etc.

You go through the same entrance as the Kerrydale Suite and the Celtic staff will guide you to the right hand side and into the Jock Stein Stand.
You then go up a few flights of stairs but there’s probably a lift, similar to the Kerrydale Suite.

{Ed007's Note - ?

4.) 16 May 2023 15:45:01
Yep that's right buzz probably need to be up early to get in.

12 May 2023 11:14:52
and so it's all started again about Ange 'could' leave for an EPL club, blah blah blah.

TinyTim

1.) 12 May 2023 12:56:12
Just cannot see it. Usual paper nonsense. He hlwill be looking to mak an impact in Europe.
If the unthinkble happened and he did go it would be with my best wishes. The guy is a fantastic manager.

2.) 23 Jun 2024 00:40:31
bullet of a header?.

3.) 23 Jun 2024 07:50:44
I was amazed at how high he could jump to get his head on that. Shilton had no chance. Possibly one of the greatest goals ever scored.

Well, ITV/ STV had a great coverage of the build up to Germany v SCOTLAND.
The opening game to the Euros and.

After a brief intro and a few clips of Scotland supporters, we got an interview with Gareth Southgate the England Manager and clips of the England players.

REALLY? What has THAT got to do with the game about to be played?

And people ask why so many Scots do not support England when they play?
Maybe its because we are sick of the media that surrounds them.

TinyTim

1.) 15 Jun 2024 12:55:44
It’s the same when the Council Tv channels take it in turns to show all the England games but the Scotland matches are on PPV channels.

2.) 15 Jun 2024 13:01:28
Aye TinyTim, I genuinely wish the England players well but just 5 mins into watching their punditry, I do a U turn and want them beat. Shame though coz as I said a few weeks ago, these players entertain me each week on TV.

3.) 15 Jun 2024 20:49:41
Maybe after last night, it’s lucky Scotland’s games are PPV .

In 1967, Celtic's Ronnie Simpson became Scotland's oldest ever debutant when he turned out against England at Wembley at the age of 36.

Twenty-two years earlier, Simpson set another Scottish record as the League's youngest ever debutant when he was selected for Queen's Park in 1945 at the tender age of 14.

Well done Faither.

Jock Stein didn’t like his attitude in training when they were both at Hibs and he was sold to Celtic.

Ronnie probably feared the worst, when Jock was appointed the Manager of Celtic but all ended well.

Ronnie’s Dad was a Rangers defender in the 1930s.

I see a lot of banter about full backs, midfielders and forwards.

I may have missed it, but, have we signed a replacement for Joe Hart yet?

TinyTim

1.) 05 Jun 2024 11:36:53
The window has a long way to go tiny give them a chance.

2.) 05 Jun 2024 14:18:13
Joe harts available on a free.

3.) 05 Jun 2024 14:33:02
Contrary. to what James Forrest the blogger wrote today, window doesn’t open until Friday week .
JF is usually spot on, but it. appears he thought window opened 1st of June and not the correct date 14th of. June.

4.) 05 Jun 2024 18:21:26
We can still sign players just now.

{Ed007's Note - No unless they were a free agent at the end of the January window. The domestic transfer window opens on 14th June and the international window opens on July 1st.
Mbappe technically isn't a Real Madrid player yet, they can't register him until the 1st of July.}

good point.
Not in any hurry to get in and assess what he has and what he needs.
There is still a Scottish Cup to play for and what a start it would be if he got that.
Not my first choice but.

Quinn, Kennedy won't get the job, I am sure of that.
Who will? No idea. I like to think they have a few names but I am also aware that Celtic try to keep things close and not let the media interfere.
We have seen too many times were players (their agents? ) and managers let slip enough info to show Celtic are interested in a bid to influence other teams (Particularly down south)

Playing in our league is a good stepping-stone for the EPL mate.
Look at the number of players who come to SPL first.

It is a fair idea however, the ground needs a chance to get a rest as well and the ground squad get a chance to work on it.

9iar,
In most cases the hype etc. is created by the media and not the players and manager.

As for MOTD? I cannot stand Lineker and his jolly boys club with shearer and wright etc.
Never successfully managed a club but can, as 'experts' tell us what the manager SHOULD have done.
Same as them standing up and moving players around the pit by computer. IF this player went there and IF he had.
Aye, IF my aunty had a pair she would be my uncle.

England winning! Are you serious?
Still droning on about 1966 so NO THANK YOU.

I'm never that keen on players coming back.
For me, they left to move UP so coming back is like a step down.
Also, they will always be compared to the younger player that left us and that can affect their attitude etc.

It's like all those last pay check signings who love Celtic and have always had a dream to one day play for us.
Not while they are at the top of their game they won't sign though!
