Anyone else get the feeling that we are going to end up will Craig Gordon back in goals?
Hope I am wrong but way Lennon is talking seems to point to it.

Or alternatively Kev it could be tonight’s game is about putting players in the shop window, or just like Lennon said they need games, honestly think Gordon’s days as no1 are done and dusted mate👍.

If Gordon had made the mistakes Bain has recently he’d have been slaughtered for it, he’s still the best shot stopper we have.

Lenny has said that his No.1 keeper will be whoever keeps the ball out of the net. Gordon is and always has been an excellent shot stopper even though he has major flaws with his distribution. On the other hand Bain had performed very well overall since he came into the team and I imagine he'll continue to be at the front of the queue. If we weren't 5-0 up going into this game I imagine Bain would be in place. HH.

For me graig Gordon started going down hill when BR tried to turn him into maldini.
I don't think his goal keeping was ever really a worry until he was asked to start the play from the back and more often than not put us in trouble.
Keepers should stick to keeping the ball out the net.

I can see Gordon being re-installed as the number 1 because, like 10inarow says, he is easily the better shot stopper. It's his distribution that let him down and led to errors and goals against, which cost him his place in the team but Bain has already stated that Lennon has asked the keeps to play longer more often. If this is the case then it's Gordon for me all day long.

I ain't just talking tonight's game. I think he will be brought back in full time. Bain is a all round better keeper.

Gordon can't collect a cross or distribute it to our team. Everytime it gets played back to him there is panic all through the defence.
Even when he's not asked to play from the back he just belts it straight out of play and hand possession straight to the opposition. Keep doing that all game and good teams will punish us.

They never said they would just be hoofing it up the pitch. They have been told to do that when necessary. And even doing that strategy I prefer bain as he can actually find a team mate.

Also Gordon constantly pams the ball straight back in to play leaving strikers with tap ins. Like against inter Milan ect.

Great point Cory. Distribution isn't just short range passing. Gordon's long kicking even leaves a lot to be desired. Having STILL not replaced Dembele we have nobody to win it either mind - but that's a matter for when the window is shut. CG makes good reaction saves. That's about it. Distribution is poor. Doesn't command his area. Looks suicidal coming out to meet the ball. And as has been mentioned, parries it into dangerous areas. Generally I think Bain installs a bit more confidence in our defence.

Make no mistake about it Bain is number 1. The leaked document commented that NL was content with the goalkeeping situation pending that CG never asked for a free transfer entering into the last year of his contract

That for me makes it clear to me that he is number 2 as their is no need to replace unless he triggers that scenario.

The idea that we haven’t yet replaced Dembele could be that Lennon has made a conscious decision not to try to replace him, by tweaking the way we play, so that we don’t use a Dembele type striker .
