Hey Ed, seeing an online rumour regarding a former Celt and wearer of the famous 88 jersey - anything to add from your contact?

I'll be honest, would LOVE to see hoops back at paradise.

Cheers

{Ed007's Note - Last I heard was Lennon was taking him to Bolton on loan next season. }

He would be my number 1 target for this summer. Banged them for us including a few in Europe and he loved a goal against Rangers. No risks involved in signing him unlike the strikers we've signed in trying to replace him. We know he can do the job for us, hope we go and get him!

Hooper isn't a lone striker it would be a bad move for the system we play he wanted out and we don't need him back!

{Ed007's Note - I'd say need or want him back. He's just another player that realised the grass isn't always greener. He said he wanted out of CFC to further his England career and he was homesick, I guess flopping at Norwich and being as far away from the England squad than Robert the Bruce cures homesickness.}

Nope not for me, not because he left or anything but because I genuinely don't think he would score any more then Griffiths would if given the same game time in our current formation. Do we have any promising Strikers in the development squad these days? i'm not saying we rely on them, was just curious.

Maybe he has found a Scottish Grandmother .
I am not sure about Hooper coming back if that happened . He has spent two seasons on peripher of football at Norwich. Not getting regular first team football for two seasons may dent his goal scoring skills . Unlike LM67 I do see a risk taking him back, just like other possible strikers .
We could be lucky with him , but more players are not as good second time round .

does anyone else think that we should not be playing a lone striker system?

Does anyone think we can afford him? They spent £5 million on him and would be looking to recoup at least that as he must have 2 years left on his contract.

{Ed007's Note - There's his £30k a week wages as well, Niall.}

Himself and Anthony Stokes formed a deadly partnership , we haven't had that since he left , I wouldn't mind him coming back , in our league he is a 30 goal a season striker .

Did job when he was here but I for one would not want him back. He chose to try to further his ambitions by leaving Celtic for Norwich. Did a great job of it then. Did not see a rake of clubs suddenly realising what a great talent he was. You can still stand out in a poor team.

{Ed007's Note - We need to get away from wanting players to return, it rarely works out and it's a bit of a Zombie trait. I'd like to think that under the new regime and with our worldwide scouting network we can come up with someone better than the present day Hooper. Hooper returning would damage his standing with a lot of supporters imo.}

There are far better options out there than Hooper.

Who are the better options though? Since he left we've signed a South American striker from La Liga and a striker from Schalke among others, you would have thought they would tear up the SPL but they didn't. We know that Hooper would and we also know he can pop up with goals in big European games, something we don't have at present. I also think that despite his lack of goals his season in the EPL would have improved his all round game, holding the ball etc which would mean he is more suited to playing up top himself. Lennon also used him at the tip of a midfield diamond a few times so he is capable of playing behind the striker too. Loan deal with an option to buy for a couple of million? No brainer in my opinion

Hooper the replacement for old standby Robbie Keane?

Too injury prone imo, was great for us back then. that's where we should leave it.
