Since there was a bit of buzz around Dembele being available on the cheap, and because I'm clearly a saddo, I did a wee bit of number crunching. He will now be available for nothing so straight away that's a £3M saving since yesterday. If he signed on a 3 year deal, that would cover a £1M signing-on bonus plus £13k p/ w wages (obviously excluding agent fees etc. because we're not privy to that) . Say it was £50k he was after, I don't see why we couldn't afford to shell out £37k p/ w on the right player if we were able to avoid paying a transfer fee.

I'd imagine he's just turned down a 6 figure a week contract so £50k probably wouldn't get him.

He left for more money . so won't be back for less.

I read that Dembele is on £52K a week with Lyon.
I’d be surprised if a club is willing to double his wages.

It depends what he wants to be honest. If we're only talking about the clubs who were linked with him he's got the choice of Turkey (Big money and possibility of CL/ EL but generally the European equivalent of moving to Qatar or Saudi) . Southampton/ Everton (Maybe PL but also maybe Championship. Relegation fight at best probably but high wages) . We can't compete with the wages on offer but we could probably put together a fairly attractive package with the highest chance of European exposure. He's only 26, he's probably got another big move in him but only if he chooses wisely in the summer.

There's also the very real likelihood that there's zero interest in signing him and this is all nonsense lol.

Why was anyone even talking about MD as a potential signing?
It was never in the mix and there are a hundred reasons why it would never happen.
For goodness sake lads, grow the feck up. HH.

Besty's right guys. We all know better than to have a hypothetical discussion on an online banter page.

I am in the camp that he was here and decided to move on and so have we as a club. He hasn't got the movement of Kyogo and since the way we play suits Kyogo, he will not replace him. We now have Oh and it's early days on how he is going to fit in but our style of play has developed and moved on just like Moussa did, so going backwards doesn't fit Anges style. .

Why are we even talking about Dembelle coming back. That’s like asking about Larsson returning with Sutton.
He was great for us, wanted a move, never reached his potential but his d still on over £50k a eeek. Not a chance he’s even being considered never mind actually being pursued.
