Ed, listening to the latest podcast (didnt get a chance to listen live) i think your very unfair regarding welsh playing in the champ league, u say he is inexperienced but until u give the boy the oportunity we will never know, i think with his preformances lately he deserves a little faith and belief.

{Ed007's Note - Welsh is 21 and probably only broke into the first team because of Julien's injury, he hasn't even played 20 games for us and you'd be confident of going into the CL qualifiers and hopefully the group stages with him as a first choice CB?
Not for me mate, I never said he was a bad player, he's a great young player and getting tortured in the CL and taking abuse from Celtic fans over any little mistake let alone costly ones isn't going to help his progress.
The gulf from Scotland to the CL Groups is getting bigger every year and imo it's no place to be throwing youngsters - with very little even domestic experience - into.
Would you be confident of Welsh containing an Mbappe or Haaland? I know realistically we can't afford the level of defender to have that confidence but surely we should be looking for an experienced head to come in and take control of the defence during games - and that's IF Ajer stays.}

What nonsense. The best defenders in world football cannot contain mbappe and haaland. We are miles away from having to worry bout they 2. We can't even qualify for the tournament they play in.

Controversial opinion but Welsh to me looks average. I know he has potential and i hope he does become a great player for us but i would have him as a squad player next season.

Jullien will be first choice CB when he's back from injury I've no problems with Welsh filling in for the meantime with Welsh covering domestic games and if Jullien picks up another injury. I think we need 2 left sided CB in the next window as well as 2 RB and another LB to fix the defence.

To play devils advocate, we have had a few youngsters who got a baptism of fire in the Champions League and stood up to the challenge.

Marshall, Tierney, Kennedy, Ralston and Pearson.

That being said it is a big step up for any Scottish player to go from SPFL to playing in Europe.

By the way, I very much doubt we will be playing CL football next season as the side of the draw we are in is brutal.
