This is probably an unpopular opinion and tbh it's only just crossed my mind.

Is it possible that Duffy is in fact a very capable defender and the coaching setup is that bad that players just don't know what they should be doing or are low in confidence?
Very few of our players are covering themselves in any glory at the moment so singling any out may be unfair.
I know I know it's the basics but there might be a bigger underlying problem.

Personally I hope we don't sign anyone new until we get a new coaching team in. The last thing we need is a young defender put in to play in the form we're in just now.

Lot of basic errors by the big man. that’s nothing to do with coaching or tactics for that matter. He’s just not settled for whatever reason and that may be coupled alongside his level of ability imo. 🍀.

When he slipped on his a%$e in his first game at Ross County you knew there and then he was a coo. Our recruitment has been shocking! The mess we are in can't be underestimated. Is it possible that the reason we haven't sacked Lennon is the candidate we want won't be available until the summer? Steve Clarke? I hope so! There's a manager who knows tactics and can organise a team👍.

His career including three loan spells away from parent club Everton from 2011-2014, but then picked up with 2 seasons at Blackburn (63 apps) and a move to Brighton in 2016 (122 apps) .
He has also won 41 caps for Ireland after 20 caps for under 21's.
It seemed he was more than capable of doing a job in the SPL, but he has made (like others beside him) a lot of costly mistakes.
Our defensive problems were apparent from day one, even before he arrived at Celtic Park and a lot of it can be put down to almost constant chopping and changing of the back four because of Jullien and El Hamed's regular absences and switching both fullbacks, or maybe more significantly - the obvious goalkeeping weakness.
Every cross-ball causes havoc and often costs a goal; plus neither goalie has been too hot at shot-stopping. Although the defensive unit definitely needs to be coached, drilled and settled; with Bitton being replaced with a real central defensive partner.

Duffys rank end of. He’s proven that in Europe and domestic level with us. Whatever the excuse he’s certainly not the answer to any celtics problems.

Think Bitton is a better centre back than Duffy, it's a disgrace, if Duffy is being paid that money that was reported, that's one way to cause disharmony in the dressing room, some guy comes in, smashes the salary ceiling, and then it turns out, he is not capable of doing the job.
I would sign Porteous from Hibs, he has the makings of a good centre half.

He makes Effe look like Maldini. Every cross creates panic in our box. When you watch the back line their all over the place. Shouting, pointing, out of position, shaking their heads looking at one another. Our backline is a disgrace which deteriorates game by game. When you look back when we won 2-1 twice V Lazio with mostly our present line up apart from Hayes Forster Boli and Forrest it shows how far we have fallen.

The mistake again St Mirren for the second goal is nothing to do with coaching although any decent coach would see that the boys confidence is shot and would take him out the team for a while.
Decent coaches would also play the best players in there best positions and not try and fit them into a formation that he thinks will work.

It could be down to bad coaching but the players must take some of the flack due to their lack of effort and can't be arsed attitude. So I take it the review has been completed and its let's just carry on regardless and I can't believe that the Hearts fan that runs our PR still has a job. The only decent guy is the Celtic SLO.

Aindoh I agree on porteous, looks to be a cracking player and one that will just improve. I'd sign doig and him if Petrie will deal, bring Nesbit in for good measure.
