So all this talk what would u say mcgeady yes or no?

Usual rubbish to sell papers. Maloney fletcher Anya le fondre long mcmanaman the list goes on of guys who can earn 35k in the championship but are linked to celtic and there famous wage cap. Chris Sutton gets some stick on here but he is bang on with what he is saying the board. They are sitting back and let Ronnie take all the stick for there failings. And there biggest failing could be Ronnie himself. So McGeady back here for 20k pw no chance. And even if there was an ounce of truth In the story still no. Break the bank on a striker not McGeady.

Mcgeady definite no, all the skill in the world but his final ball same as playets we have just now and that's shocking, complete waste of supporters money if its used on him.

Seen him in the flesh at Parkhead for the Scotland v Eire game and honestly, he wasn't braw.

In saying that, we are down to the bare bones of options at the moment but the wages would have to be no more than say Armstrongs.

McGeady easily a better player than. Armstrong, Forrest, GMS, McGregor, so I'd love to know why Celtic fans wouldn't want him.

02 Jan 2016 11:02:47
Was he a stand out for you when we played Spartak in 2012 Lubo?

He didn't even play the full 90 mins in either games.

02 Jan 2016 11:27:51
Great talent but greedy. selfish . mostly picks wrong option on final ball . never fulfilled potential here or elsewhere . would cost too much in wages and transfer fee . hopefully paper talk.

Mrs E good to see you posting again, we have missed your knowledge on here, Happy New Year to you and your boys.
As for McGeady I am with you NO NO NO better players and more value elsewhere.

8.) 02 Jan 2016
02 Jan 2016 11:43:37
Mcgeady would improve this Celtic team and give a much needed creative spark if he does sign play him behind griff.

9.) 02 Jan 2016
02 Jan 2016 11:43:53
I would say ( based on form and fan interest and an element of fan unrest ) a potential " yes " but does he have the hunger? Is he the type that can educate others and bring them on? Is he still mcgreedy or has he learned to bring others in to the game

What's his work rate like?

If the answers to these questions are no or unknown then we have to conclude that his signing would signal a sciesmic shift away from the alleged policy of buying young and developing or simply rearing our own

Cole was a departure but we needed that 3rd striker but that one ranks alongside Ian Wright and cascarino at the moment.

02 Jan 2016 11:51:26
Mrs E he obviously didn't have the best of games but can you honestly tell me he is not a better player than most of our current squad?

11.) 02 Jan 2016
02 Jan 2016 12:00:49
McGeady, please be serious he was no good when he played for us before and has done very little since then apart from collecting huge wages. He is not a champions league standard player and I don't think there is any need to have him for domestic games, we have enough passengers currently and should spend more wisely than that.

12.) 02 Jan 2016
02 Jan 2016 12:03:26
Lubo

On form ( back then IE in the past) he was better than anything we have now. But is he better currently?

In saying that he plays at international level for a team that has qualified for a major championship finals whereas his contemporaries at Celtic park cannot get sustained game time or caps for a team that came up short

Hmmmmmmm.

Here we go on the usual bull transfer stories! There's not a chance in hell of mgeady dropping over half his wage to come back to us! Why Ronnie even gives this story the time of day I'll never know! Just keep your mouth shut! Utter garbage honestly! And even if he would somehow take a drop in wage it would still be a NO! Mgeady is no doubt a talented boy but to me he's done! He's not worth breaking the bank for! Another posters made a good point! Fletcher anya Maloney and now mgeady! Pees me off the utter crap that gets pulled out every transfer window!

14.) 02 Jan 2016
02 Jan 2016 12:15:04
To say McGeady was no good for us before is absolute garbage. If you said he was inconsistent then you'd have a valid point. And as for not needing him in domestic games? Have you not been watching the rubbish on show this season. He maybe is not a Champions League standard player but the sad reality is we are nowhere near a Champions League standard team. He'd improve the current team. No doubt. At least it would save me from having to watch Armstrong play week in week out as a left winger.

15.) 02 Jan 2016
02 Jan 2016 12:28:15
Lubo

I'll agree with that. He is a better left winger than Armstrong

Armstrong of course isn't a left winger and is player there to ( a) play him and ( b) for possession

He is inside left or in the hole ahead of orthodox midfielders but that is not the system

We need a set up that permits two in the box ( minimum ) when wing play leads to a successful ball in to the box

Not necessarily a 442 but a set up that promotes numbers in the box at the right time

To poster that says McGeady is and was garbage, you should hang your head. A ludicrous statement and I have £10m reasons to back it up.

I agree that he is better than what we currently have. I agree he was a good player for us In the past. But if we are going to break the bank then it shouldn't be on him. But I go back to my first post and beaver 81 has the same point. It's utter garbage. It's papers trying to sell themselves. The money in England is rediculous. If he is free to leave Everton he will find another club who will give him 35 k a week. Celtic will never give him that. And does anybody honestly think he is worth that.

McGeady is probably better than what we have (used to think Forrest would kick on and eclipse him but that hasn't panned out) . I'd definitely be against him coming in though for a number of reasons. Firstly, his tail goes down too quickly when things aren't going his way (consistently for years) . Second, he would think he's a big time Charlie and be a negative influence in the dressing room. Off the field as well he was a trouble maker (used to wind up O'Dea on nights out like a wee ned) . Beyond that, our midfield would be better served by having a settled back four with a decent partner for Jozo (with Boyata dropping to bench) and a credible striker to feed instead of us relying on LG. Hopefully not a chance of it. A decent CB would be all I would want in window (difficult) . Sick of us packing our squad with midfielders that give RD more difficulty in picking a decent first XI. If no one comes in, we would still be on for treble, a decent run to put space ahead of Aberdeen could give us a chance to bring in more youth but can't see that happening either. Happy New Year btw.

Firstly, I agree that the same old names are associated with us every window - especially ex-players like McGeady.
He did have some excellent displays and great goals - but not nearly enough considering the time he was at the club.
He undoubtedly Had more natural talent than nearly all of the current squad put together, but his attitude, selfishness and lack of workrate would not suit the current regime.
Add to that his record since leaving us and his best days are probably behind him.
However we are very short of entertainers and flair players and we could do with someone like that to get fans back.

19.) 02 Jan 2016
02 Jan 2016 13:53:33
It's easy, we accept the down sizing and penny pinching that we currently have or we stand up and let the board know our feelings. As a regular attendee of games I constantly hear RD getting pelters but the board get let off without so much as a murmur from the fans. The reality is without change this is now our lot and it will continue to get worse. We are not quite at the Wayne Biggins and Carl Mugeltin stage but we're not too far off it! Honestly we need a change of owners guys it's getting beyond the pale now, I can't take any more down sizing! Hail Hail

02 Jan 2016 15:46:00
Lol Wayne Biggins! I mentioned him in a rant a whole back as a potential manager way things are! Like the manager replacement scenario who would want to invest money in buying out Desmond? I picture a consortium headed by Subo and Kevin Bridges if we're lucky. Let's just hope it pans out and RD is the new Klopp! (Sorry, haven't really been able to swally over festive period-making up for lost time)

I wouldn't want McGeady back. I have good memories of him doing some great things, quickness of the foot and mind . I think that McGeady has lost the frequency of foot and mind and he if he were to rejoin us, I think he wouldn't live up to his previous performances .
