It's getting tobthat time of year again will be see if we can rid ourselves of some of the non usable players the ones who just drain the resources and contribute little and if so what additions and more interestingly what areas Ronnie will try to strengthen? I honestly can't see us adding anybody we just don't need to as the money men will say we have enough domestically? On another point looking to get a droid box maybe the t8 but also like the look of the Amazon stick with inbuilt kodi what's the better option.

If you want the Amazon Fire stick just order from eBay and get jailbreak with kodi preload. Check reviews and details of the seller.

Ed, looking to buy the right box but looking for some advise.
Cld I pass on email address n speak privately with some of the guys in the know
Basically paying £120+ for full Virgin package n never watch most tv, just need to know how easy to use n if there's any ongoing problems once installed
Cheers.

{Ed007's Note - Sure mate, if you send in an e-mail address and anyone that wants to help sends in theirs I'll make sure you get in touch. If I can get one, set it up and have it running for the last 4/5 months anyone can.}

Cheers Ed

Assume the viewing quality is as good?
Also do u need to constantly go searching for specific channels or always in same place/station no.?

Ignorant I know!

{Ed007's Note - I've taken a note of your e-mail so come on lads, there must be someone out there that can help out? The quality is as good as TV but my T8 is hardwired to the router which is meant to help with buffering or so I was told. I've been messing about with mine but the basics is, put it on, it updates itself if needs be and then I choose one add-on that takes me to a FULL TV guide including all your Sly channels, another add-on takes me to movies and TV shows box sets etc, another takes me to sports and the final one takes me to a classic TV/films, documentaries etc etc.}

You don't actually need one of these boxes to run Kodi, you can download it and run it through your PC.

{Ed007's Note - And then you need to tie up your PC and connect it your TV, it kind of defeats the purpose of it for me. Why buy a laptop to run it when you can buy a box for much cheaper?}

Was just suggesting an alternative. My PC sits next to my tv so all I needed was a graphics card with an HDMI output, which was cheaper than one of the boxes. I would also suggest downloading The Beast build.

In addition the graphics card supports dual monitors so I can run kodi on the TV and still use the PC as normal through the monitor or even have two games streaming, one on the TV and one on the monitor.

{Ed007's Note - That's far too complicated for me lol I'm trying to talk the Mrs into letting me have another TV in the living room, playing the PS4 is having a seriously detrimental effect on the amount of time I'm putting in to watching TV.}

Got my PS4 hooked up to the tv too! It's all about management it's not that hard to do.

{Ed007's Note - I don't think I've got enough sockets for all of that!}

Cheers for the feedback folks I've went for the t8 box it sounded easier to use as it's for my parents Christmas to save them monthly charges to sly sports and movies they aren't the greatest with technology but dhoukd manage with the t8 hopefully? Mon the hoops 🍀.

I bought a Raspberry PI and installed Kodi, it's pretty easy to set up and configure.

Hi Ed what add ons do you currently have? I've just reset my box because xbmc crashed so back to basic setup with a few add ons like Dexter and Zeus which seem to work well.

{Ed007's Note - I use Operation Robocop for football and sports, UK Turk is a great add on as well for older/classic films & TV shows, I'm going to check out Wookie as well, I had a free membership but never bothered with it but now it's free for everyone I'm going to give it a try.}

I'd would be careful what box you go for. The first one I picked up was around £85 and found after a simple t8 android box search and seemed to have all the spec requirements. None of the preloaded material worked and much of it was in chinese so beware. My advice would be to bash in top 10 android boxes and take it from there. A good all in one box load is wookie and it has a preloaded tv guide and plenty of working addons and every sports one I've heard mentioned here that are updated regularly. For those that are unsure of kodi or worried about their connection speed as a previous poster said download kodi on your pc, open google and search for the wookie addon and you will find a walk through for you. Unlike a pc some boxes don't like wookie because it is produced by a competitor (entertainment boxes will have it as standard) . Another tip as a remote to choose with it. I would go with the one that looks like a game console controller. I have an air remote and it is a pain in the @rse my missus hates it. Remember most of the better boxes have USB ports so you can plug a mouse/keyboard right in and navigate that way wich can be handy when you are loading your own addons or using the box to send emails or go online.

{Ed007's Note - I bought mine from here: www.entertainmentbox.com and have had no problems with it and their after sales support is top notch if you do have any problems.}

Ed and Henrik. Wookie will wipe all the manual addons you have installed but everything mentioned on here is automatically reloaded anyway. I can't belive I didn't load wookie sooner it would of saved me hours!

{Ed007's Note - Ah right, but it's worth downloading?}

Its excellent. If you are a bit unsure load kodi on your pc and install wookie to try it out before you reset your box. My Internet is down and I have a droidbox so I haven't loaded it yet. I put it on my note 4 phone last night and couldn't belive the amount of content.

{Ed007's Note - (yes)

There are still a few things I will have to put on manually that I want. If you have an entertainment box already then it should just be like an update for you with a different skin. As a hassle free set up for someone that is new to the boxes it is great.

{Ed007's Note - Sounds good. I know they used to charge people but I got a free Wookie account because I bought my T8 from that particular shop/site but I thought to myself, 'I bought this to cut down on what I pay for TV so why do I need an add-on that charges other folk, why support something that's charging people?'. But now it's free to everyone it sounds the dog's danglies.}

Only thing I'll say about the tv guide is the renegade one doesn't work on my phone but the ftv one does. When scrolling down it stops and won't load to the sky channels bit but you can still load them perfectly from the various other addons. Might be my phone and there will be ways round it I'm sure. Tbh seeing this set up now I would of gladly paid that bit extra for it considering all the time I spent doing it manually. I still might even go for the wookie pro version after I have a chance to look into it further.

{Ed007's Note - The TV guide was a bit of a pain in the ar5e time wise to set up but it's worth persevering with it.}

************* is my email addy ed I know my way round the kodi and iptv scene pretty well feel free to pass email on and I'll help any of the bhoys.

{Ed007's Note - Good man, and thanks. I'll pass that on to Stevo and if anyone else wants it just let me know. You might fancy giving us some input on our Android site http://android-review.co.uk/ as well mate. Up until now it's been mostly Ed001 talking to himself and me and Ed023 bumbling about lol.}
