I remember watching Ebanks-Blake in the championship a few seasons back and he couldn't stop scoring. He fired them to the prem then got dropped. He hardly gets a game at Wolves now but he scored twice tonight and hes still just 25. Considering the championship is easily as good as the SPL, I think he could be a good signing. Strong, powerful and great scoring record for Wolves when you look at goals to games ratio. Surely within our budget aswell. What u think ed?

Take it u seen this player on the rangers page any player rangers are in for you lot seem to want them as well sad and pathetic WATP 4 in a row

Love it how rangers 'fans' are more concerned with celtic than they are their own team, probably as were a bigger club

I'd take him in a minute, n big Mick is a good Tim n would probably sort us out with a deal. I think he'd be the perfect foil for hooper.

cant believe celtic are not giving rasmussen a chance. He did alrite when we signed him. His downfall was signing Keane. Hes better than samaras and murphy.

Don't know why lennon persists in playing Samaras and Murphy. Surely Rasmussen deserves a chance. I would keep him and get rid of the other 2 donkeys.

I'm better than Murphy, but it doesn't make me a Celtic striker. Rasmussen is at training every day. If he showed ability, he would be in the squad for matches, especially when we are obviously desperate for a striker.

Maloney must show something in training cause he shows bugger all on the park. He should be given away

The guy did it for us when we asked him to. Scored a crucial goal in a game which looked like ending in stalemate at Hamilton and cam on to score the winner in the 3-2 win over Hibs that season as well.
To me it just seems like a player who Lenny just dislikes so I would guess no chance he will play for us again.
A real pity as I think he could do us a turn.

I like Rasmussen but he may have said or done something to annoy Lenny, as for Murphy when he's played he's scored but I can only think of a handful of games he's actually played in but Samaras just makes up the numbers we need shot of him asap

Cheers Ed, Whats your opinion? I know everyone is clamouring for an experienced striker and we probably wnt be interested or get him. But imo i think hes a better option than ALF who i really dont rate as ive been keeping tabs on both players. And being a Scotland under 21 striker it just appeals to me.

Stu88. {Ed007's Note - I don't follow the lower leagues in England much Stu, but the English Eds rate Rhodes higher that ALF. They all say the same thing about ALF, lazy but can score.}

I think both players would be a great signing for celtic score week in week out in decent leagues where players have came out of and made a decent name for themselves

does anyone else believe that footballers greed is killing FITBA fifa should cap wages i.e..... E,TO... £200.000 a week FFS .if i could get his wages for a week i would retire {Ed007's Note - £375k a week it is, after tax.}

Totally agree wae ye mate theres no level playing field anymore. a wage cap of 40k a week then u wouldnae get clubs being allsorts in debt to pay average players 100k a week when in reality are only worth about 15k a week canny wait till this fifa fair play thing comes in.

Unfortunately there will never be a wage cap as the clubs, the big ten or 12 in Europe have a monopoly on winning everything as they can attract the biggest players ergo they keep winning everything. They have cornered the market and Scotland, the Scandanavian countries, Belgium even Turkey and Holland and the FYR I could go on have missed the boat. The last 4 in the champions league, certainly the last 8 are assured year after year. Its their ball and they wont give it up. They will find ways of loopholing the rules. They always have and they always will. UEFA circulate about ten clubs in and out of the CL to maintain a veneer of a balanced competition and a semblance of fairness but its all nonsense. Dont blame the players for taking the money. Blame the clubs, the monopoly they hold on the market and the nature of the game. Ie every club is a selling club. Lets face it football is not about participation, its about winning and to guarantee winning, to ensure your club is making money and getting the glory you need to make the commodity (the players) very expensive so that other clubs cannot use that commodity and stop your club winning.

Any idea who was on trial against Blackpool today in the reserve game?

Thought I'd get in thru the back door and get the name thru the Blackpool website but it doesn't ention any of our squad and the Celtic site just lists 'Trialist'

However as the player didn't score I sure hope it wasn't a striker, but judging by the other personel listed I would say it was a midfielder (just what we need... NOT)

OP here. Yeah tried the same thing with Blackpool and used the same idea in terms of position as it's usually listed 4-4-2 but got nothing other than likely position.

Still haven't found anything out. Maybe just a youngster.

Other possibility is that Sanogo Boubacar was finally on trial after he had some tooth problem a few weeks ago {Ed007's Note - If Ed003 gets back to me with anything I will let you guys know right away.}

Good afternoon ed. Any new news on the farce that is fc sion being booted from the europa league? It would be embarrassing to go out to them on thursday but even more so if we go out, only to be put back in because of this. Surely it should be sorted before the team travel to Switzerland.
Ben Bhoy 1916 {Ed007's Note - Hi Ben, the situation is just the same, it depends who goes through. I think maybe UEFA are hoping CFC put them out to save them having to deal with it, although they will still face some form of punishment I would imagine.}

I will watch with interest what happens UEFA talked the talk now lets see if they walk the walk. On a brighter note Maribor are querying Boccanegras eligibility(excuse the spelling) {Ed007's Note - That is regarding a UK work permit, that is more to do with employment law than FIFA/UEFA stature.}

Looks like they want Celtic to put them out but if Sion go through expect Fifa to either fine them or throw them out of Europe. Had the same thought about Kayal but remembered that once the teams are in group phase they can play other players who played elsewhere in the qualifiers.

Uefa headquarters are based in switzerland. they wont s**t in their own backyard, so sion will be fined and not thrown from the competition. but celtic hopefully make it null and void by getting the win we crave.

I can't believe some of the rubbish some of our fans post about transfer targets. We are a club focused on plc objectives and not football priorities.

We have no chance of getting a player like bridge or dunne so get real - it's a smoke screen.

ed yesterday morning NL said that a striker would be signed in two days if i read it right,well we r nearly at the end of the second day and still not anything not even a rumour,me for one i think its just all talk,im hoping its not,so could u tell me if there is anything happening and is it imminent cheers Monty {Ed007's Note - It is hard to judge the time scale of transfers, Nasri had his medical at Man City on Thursday/Friday, Mancicni expected the deal to go through yesterday but that is it just being announced just now. Did NL actually put a time scale on anything?}

ed do the winners of this seasons spl go straight into the group stages for the champions league which i think they do if so surely this is enough incentive to splash a bit of cash after all there is a few million in the champions league pot for the spl winners {Ed007's Note - Yes, winning the SPL will give automatic qualification to the CL}

Sorry ed a think ur wrong, winners this year means just one qualifier to the cl next season {Ed007's Note - I might be wrong, but I don't have time to wade through the co efficients right now.}

arsenal are desperate to get rid of squillaci so would be available very cheap or even on loan i know he isnt brilliant in the premiership but i think he would do a great job in the spl

i think its clear to see were we need to strengthin , and its obvious lennon is waiting on thursdays outcome before spending , just have faith in the club you love and support, it will happpen in lennon we trust,

Point is though that we look horrendous up front without Hooper and a striker should have been brought in and registered for the game against Sion. Instead we registered a goalkeeper who, in my opinion, is not as good as Zaluska. It was a quality centre forward we should have registered. We always ran the risk of this problem because there was no decent back up to Hooper and Stokes. We had plenty of time to sign a striker but we didn't and now our hesitancy might have cost us Europe... again Samaras, Maloney or Murphy are gonna have to shine in Switzerland if we're gonna get through.

We are crying out for a goal scorer Been giving this a little thought when we got Larsson he was a fallen star someone that had a bright start to his career but never reached the hights many thought he would That was till he joined us and developed into the world class player we all know and love So I was thinking what's everyone's opinion on Vagner Love? He showed so much potential in his early years but has faded away the last few years he's only 26 and and CSKA Moscow have loaned him out the past few seasons Put a cheeky 2million bid in for him with the chances we create he would score a barrel load. Just a thought

Thats not a bad idea. He would certainly score goals in the spl. I still want skippy back along with Le Fondre or Jamie Murphy.

Not heard too much about him in a few years but I remember him being a rising star. That's not a bad shout.

Not what we need imo. He's not tall enough and we are crying out for a tall CF. Plus add to the fact he's Brazilian and, imo, South American footballers don't really seem to do too well in Scotland.

I think that's a good shout, n I disagree with the fact that he's not tall is reason enough not to sign him, hooper isn't tall n he's a proven goal scorer. I think he would be phenomenal for us.

That's one of the best posts in a while, good shout. I hope people agree with me here as I am fed up with all this (get a tall striker) rubbish some of the best football was play last year with stokes and hooper, why? Because they were smaller players and was no reason to play root one. Now samy is playing the football has stoped and back to root one again same when murphy plays too.

I expect only one more signing. A top class stiker (possibly de nigris) and maybe either Murphy or ALf, but not both.

In terms of outs Loovens us injured so going no where. Hooiveld is a possibility, Maloney to Blackpool? dont you mean McCourt. Slane is a possible but more likely to england. Murphy and Sammi possible but not both
