is samaras leaving celts? {Ed007's Note - As of right now no, but anything can happen.}

1.) There is no chance Samaras will leave Celtic on a free anyway.

2.) Can he not sign a pre contract with another club in 3 months time? If so he'd be leaving for free, ., .kbarry

3.) Hope he does go.can count the number of decent games he's had on both hands in how many seasons is that now?

4.) Sammy is not going anywhere, this is just the papers trying to fill the pages.
This is just down to NL saying about sorting out new contracts.

5.) I have tried so hard to like him and know he has ability but a handful of games a season is never enough in my opinion - especially when he picks and chooses which games to try a leg in (CL).
He frustrates more often than not and should have scored dozens more goals in Scotland in his time here.

He is NOT our best player, 1 reason isn't good enough, and those handful of games would be CL, when the SPFL is our bread and butter. without the title we wouldn't see CL football. I've never been a fan of his, I'd rather we gave youth a run out over him as we would eventually get consistant performances week in week out! Sammy has had more than a few years to settle and make a name for himself, and so far he has let the fans down more often than made us cheer, we seem to forget we gave him a new deal a few days after he missed a pen against that lot and even the new deal didn't make him perform better, time to say goodbye to sammy and as for a replacement we don't need to buy one, already got youth on the bench that look as if they can go onto good things. I want us to get stokes, ledley and commons tied down first and move on from sammy!

8.) IMO samaras is the most important player in europe together with forster now that wanyama is gone!

9.) It's really a matter of opinion weather you think he's best or not, but to say we're better off without him and he's had a handful of good games seems awfully harsh. Think since Lennon took over you could count the amount of bad games he's had, just because he's not outstanding in every game doesn't mean he's playing bad.
And the best players in the world can have penalties saved.
Most coaches and players when they come over to play us single out Samaras as our danger player, think they kind of know what there talking about

18.) Tomthetim- spot on. Best player by a mile. Inconsistent, yes, but you have to remember where we play and who we play against. If it wasnt for Sammy we would have had no Europe last year, no thirty million champs league money, and no run in the CL. The CL is where we want to be- need the good players to get us there. Would you rather have another Nakamura who was magic against Falkirk but poor in Europe? Other way around with the big names for me thanks. Neilbhoy.

how is it a sad day for fans if samaras is our best player? The only thing he isn't is prolific but I bet you any money he's involved or assisting goals scored every other time, he scored a hat trick last week and if I remember correctly he's our top scorer this season? don't talk crap mate with the youth patter, dylan mcgeough or liam henderson given the chance will 110 percent get nowhere near samaras performances in europe.
Its a toss up between him Forster or Ledley on there day whos the best.
3 years ago I would have him driven to the airport but after his performances the lsast 2 years I would give him a bumper 25 plus grand a week deal and i'm pretty sure other celtic fans would say the same, just think a little more mate b4 hitting out with that crap eh

20.) What's even more worrying is that Commons, Stokes, Samaras, Ledley and a few fringe players are all out of contract at the end of the season. We need them ALL tied down now.

Samaras is easily our best player. the rest of the squad knows it too. as for stokes and commons: spfl players. they two can go in heartbeat cause they ain't champions league level. we have a lot of international players who can compete at CL level but commons ain't one and stokes hasn't been for a long while and I'm guessing will be found out at international level when he's given his chance.the earlier posters got it right when they said oppositions, especially in Europe, always single out big sammy as the key threat.

Pains me to say that Sammy has had his chance and is never going to be celtic class. 6 or so years at celtic with only a few memorable games. Not good enough for me I'm afraid. Still, we'd get a decent fee from our Basque amigos - and, well, I can imagine sammi doing a rugged and effective job with his danny-long-legs & dread locks. I think, in short, he deserves a shot at the big-time and I trust it would be a hard decision for the big fella - since he obviously loves celtic. --but c'mon! its got to be a wind-up, right?

Hope we do get finnbogason. Been looking at clips of him and he looks the part. Noticed if we do get him he'll be the second finnbogason at celtic. He played during the strachan era, loaned out tae queens park, broke his foot. returned to the celtic youth team, he scored 28 goals in 20 apps but nva appeared for the 1st team.

1.) That was Kjartan who played for Celtic, signed in 2005 along with Teddy Bjarnason. It's Alfie that Celtic are currently linked with.

2.) Kjarten Henry Finnbogason, Teddy Bjarnasson got some game time, remember him cracking the bar and looking quite good, ., .kbarry

Well into Balde for scoring in tonight's friendly. Even bigger well in to the young team who done themselves proud. Still think we need a clinical finisher.

Would take Finnborgsan or Sharp any day. Hopefully both them.

Alongside Sammy, Stokes, Balde and Watt, I'd say our striker problem would be gone.

Then we come to the central midfielder and defender situation. Any news on signings yet, anyone? Or even just float your ideas opinions. Who do u think fits the bill?

You don't rate them HoopyBhoy? just look again m8. These guys I'll grant aren't getting any younger. But there experience would be invaluable to us. Squillaci, Gallas or Baird (can also play holding midfielder)would be excellent defenders for us we already signed Van Dijk - Holland u21 internationalist. The younger talent. Also Simon Davies and Hitzlsperger two other experienced Mids. The German has some left foot and Davies is decent technically. Carlton Cole? You well know he'd bring goals pace strength and aerial presence. I think they are all on free transfers to lol

1.) The only one I would take is squillaci I remember he was quality at Sevilla and he must only be about 30 or 31
