Use our rumours form to send us celtic transfer rumours.

07 Aug 2014 22:39:28
Hail Hail all, is it time to bury our heads in the sand again and keep telling ourselves"I am Celtic through and through and whatever comes we will get through it" or is it time to stand up and say this is our club, we support and stand for the founding principles of this Club and we shall not let our integrity and love for the club be tarnished by this drive towards mediocrity
Run by people who have long ago lost all respect for us as fans and who govern themselves on the basis of black numbers on bank balances. I say that the only way to bring back substance to our club is to teach these people a short term financial lesson by not turning up and not buying merchandise, and making them realize that they are the short term holders of the reigns and we can if we want, no matter how long it takes force them to breath fresh life in our club, force them to realize that we have an unrivaled history at our club of success, spirit, diversity, which should not be allowed to die because of profiteering.I am a supporter of more than 50 yrs standing and a first time user of such forums, so please forgive me if I am going over old ground here.

{Ed007's Note - Welcome aboard.}

Sorry malika, can you explain what you mean?, last night the majority of the team were previously thought of as top class professional footballers, so what's the difference now?, I think the blame lies at rd's feet, I hope it is just a settling period thing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Aindoh the blame is with the board, it was they who appointed a manager who had crossed nobody elses mind. And they who have not reinvested the correct level of players. Got to stick by RD though. For now. We're not ran by football men, just business men. The only hope I'm clinging on to is when Rangers come back, we have one hell of a transfer kitty ready to blow them out the water with. Clutching at straws really.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2014 00:26:58
aindoh so it's all deilas fault? lol he has basically came out and said the players aren't good enough which they aren't and he hasn't been backed financially so what is he meant 2 do? he can only go with what we have which is absolute p1sh. The blame falls at the boards door this has been coming for a long while we have all seen it coming ffs they have never replaced the best players we have lost. Give the manager a chance to make his own signings and implement his own philosophy then make a decision on him. Any world class manager would have struggled getting our current squad through that qualifier. We have no creativity, no natural striker and a shambles of a defence that's not deilas fault

Just seen the news about the ineligible player. Personally I think it would be an embarrassment if the club accepted this reprieve if it even gets that far. I think Uefa should use common sense and dish out a fine. Celtic were well beaten an fielding a player due to an admin error certainly didn't stop us scoring 6 goals in the last 4 minutes.

Ed, would love to see a poll to see everyone's opinion on wether they think the club should grasp the opportunity to be reinstated if it comes up or wether they think accepting would be embarrassing/morally wrong given the circumstances.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - And risk UEFA punishing us for refusing to play a match? It's just like the Sion situation, CFC have done nothing wrong, so if UEFA reinstate CFC there's nothing we can do about it without facing punishment ourselves.}

Thommobhoy ever been offered a freebie mate? never look a "gift horse" buddy and always stay in the fight atvb

Agree0 Disagree0

Breaking the rules of a competition is also morally wrong, strictly speaking.

I don't have any feelings towards Legia therefore, IF (I think it's a big IF) they do go out then I'm more concerned about how Celtic will react to this reprieve - will they sign players? Selfish I know but there you go :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2014 22:51:05
If a team has ever been kicked out under this rule I can't see any way Legia won't be expelled. If a precedent has been set then Celtic have to reinstated whether it's unfair or not! I would take it in a heartbeat, if anything just to get it right up certain people who will be beelin!!

Agree0 Disagree0

LOL @joeshmo1888, those certain people if they are logging onto certain Scottish news websites one side says "HMRC asks for further leave to appeal rankers case" opposite says "Celtic get a lifeline" sleepness night for the dark side me thinks atvb :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Am I not right in saying we need to make a complaint first before Legia being thrown out is considered? Being picky I know as if the club get a sniff at a reprieve they will but personally think we were gubbed fair and square.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It looks as if it was UEFA that started the investigation so we don't need to do anything. Technically it's nothing to do with us, it's between UEFA and Legia.}

That makes sense Ed thanks for the reply.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - No probs.}

I think we all agree we were gubbed not just over the two games but actually in both games. This player played no significant part in the process. However, rules are rules and if you break them then there is a price to pay. In this case, I would suspect a fine will be the outcome. If it involved Real Madrid or some of the teams from the money leagues then maybe they would dump Legia out but we all know EUFA could care less about the SPL. Do we deserve to be reinstated? NO. Will we accept it if its the case? ABSOLUTELY. I believe common sense should prevail but who knows?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed if, as it appears, we did not lodge a complaint does this not give EUFA a bit more discretion on the punishment? I know rules are rules and there is a precedent for the 3-0 punishment. However, I believe Celtic lodged a complaint against the Swiss last time. Not sure we did this time. I think we are clutching at straws and all agree we don't deserve to progress. However, if it is deemed we do then so be it. PL will be smiling as its more coffers in his bank. sorry, Celtic's bank. Not holding my breath for a positive result from EUFA. After all we are talking SPL not EPL, Spanish, Italian etc.

if we do get through to next round of qualifiers in champions league due to an unbelievable bit of luck, what happens if we have sold forrester, van dyke, Mathews and commons for about 20-25 mill do you think the board would actualy spend even half of it to replace in time of last qualifier. I hope they would. needs to be on 3-4 million pound players not half a million pound players hoping they come good. we got absolutely destroyed against legia and don't want another embarrassment .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

07 Aug 2014 21:05:40
Ed your view please of this LW ineligible player? He entered the field on 88 minutes big difference in Sion fielding a few! don't get me wrong would take it all day long, what is the norm in these circumstances? do you know? Is it a "blanket turfed out ban" but cannot see it myself atvb

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - We will be awarded last night's game 3-0 and go through on the away goals rule.}

Really Ed? Fantastic and no reason to doubt you was trying to answer my own question mate BBC reporting that precedent Hungarian team Debrecen? fielded an ineligible player against Bulgarian team Linnox Levern (?) spelling who at 4-1 up fielded this player on 84 mins although the Bulgarian team further appealed to have Debrecen kicked out Uefa decided to fine Debrecen £15k as the tie was "beyond them at the time" atvb jb7

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The Debrecen player was ineligible to play (I think it was a registration problem) but the Legia player was suspended.}

STV saying your view is in actual fact correct Ed :-)

BBC spouting the Debrecen "overview" clear as MUD Ed :-/

Agree0 Disagree0

Whats the difference ed? Both players shouldn't have played at the end of the day.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The difference is one of the players wasn't correctly registered and one of the players played whilst suspended.}

07 Aug 2014 20:18:13
Just heard on BBC that there is an appeal in against the Poles for illegally registering a player. If successful we will be awarded the tie. If so, we can look forward to another hammering.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If there's a super league for brass necks then wed rightly deserve the trophy after that

Agree0 Disagree0

If we manage to get through by pure luck. wee need to buy two quality players at 4 mill each rather than 4 half million hopefuls.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2014 22:47:41
See where your comin from al bhoy but I honestly think our squad needs more than 2 quality players we need a big overhaul. Some people may disagree but players like stokes, mulgrew, kayal, griffiths, balde, derk, efe, pukki, izzy (defending wise) are not good enough for european football and most of them are 1st team starters

Celtic's UEFA Champions League conquerors Legia Warsaw say they are being investigated by UEFA over allegedly fielding an ineligible player in their second leg tie.

Bartosza Bereszyński came on as a substitute with four minutes to go at Murrayfield, although the governing body are considering a complaint the player should have been suspended for the match.

In a statement, Legia confirmed they have prepared a submission to UEFA regarding the matter.

If found to have fielded an ineligible player, Legia could be disqualified from the competition, with Celtic advancing to the play-off stage.

Bereszyński was sent off in the UEFA Europa League last season. The duration of his subsequent ban was for three games but he missed Legia's next three UEFA matches against St Patrick's Athletic and the home leg of his side's tie with Celtic.

UEFA regulations however state that a ban only applies to a player if he is listed in a club's squad for matches. As the player in question was not on Legia's squad list for the St Patrick's tie, he would have been ineligible for the Celtic match.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's like step back in time all over again!

How can a Club be so daft to field an ineligible player?

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely we can't get lucky again after the last time with the swiss mob. Saying that would it be lucky after last few games

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2014 18:43:36
Anybody know who we are likely to be drawn against tomorrow?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just seen on tw@tter that legia may have fielded an illegible player last night

Agree0 Disagree0

Who cares we will get humped, I traveled nearly a thousand miles yesterday and I don't care who we get personally I still feel sick from that performance, I spend in the region of 6 to 7 grand a season enough is enough at this moment in time all I care about is when Desmond and lawell stop rapeing my beloved club

Having had time to digest that dire, drivel, devoid debacle who mustered three attempts on target over 180 minutes

Having thought / looked at this would love to see this starting line up against St Johnstone

Fasan,
O'Connell
Irvine
Fraser
Fisher

McGeough
Henderson
McGregor
Forrest

Fridjohnson
Atjic

Am serious! Let's see what we have in reserve, Cannot be any worse! THEY WILL have played together, First team been worked too hard by RD/JC in there opinion? ( well they ain't trying that is for sure!) embarrass them then!

If RD has a PAIR! he would try it! he is "going to rip it up " anyway so go right ahead let's see what you have RD ATVB JB7

Believable0 Unbelievable0

07 Aug 2014 18:23:39
If RD had a pair he would try it!?!
If he did and we were soundly beaten then it would be his fault!
I really hope RD proves us wrong as the thought of Collins falling into the job sends shivers up my spine!

Agree0 Disagree0

Joshemo we were SOUNDLY beaten mate by a team I may add were poor (do some digging on LW!)

You or I have more chance of getting it than JC atvb

Jamie I'm up for that. I'm all about giving youth a chance . Intae it!

Hope we sign Armstrong

Hail hail

Agree0 Disagree0

The fault for these results, IMO, lies squarley at the feet of the management team. Do you think if Lennon was still in charge this would have happened? I for one don't. There was a lot of people wanted Lennon out and get their wish ( ed007 included ) and look where we are now. I also believe the board have sold us short but not only with a lack of signings but with the appointment of RD. I really hope I'm proven wrong on this though

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - And Lennon's in a panic over whether the BBC will give him a job for next season because they're not exactly queuing round the block offering manager's jobs, why do you think that is?
I don't think this would have happened if NL had been in charge, we'd have got put out against Reykjavik in the last round if he had been.}

Ed I don't think Lennon will need to panic, I'm pretty sure he won't be short of a bob or 2 and I agree the lack of people chasing him shows how he is rated and I can't disagree with that but to say he wouldn't have gotten us trough the last round seems a bit childish, wasn't he the man who led us there 2 seasons in a row, and last year with this very same squad? Who do you blame for these results?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I blame customers like you.}

Ed I used to have a lot of respect for you and what you had to say but you really are starting to become an person with comments like that

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Dry your eyes, you asked a question, it's not my fault if you don't like the answer.}

07 Aug 2014 16:45:10
Just thinking there. Over the space of a week, Celtic have let in 12 goals.

12 goals.

I understand the team plays Spurs were kids, but tactics are surely wrong here.

Just no faith in Delia. If that was Lennons game last night he would have been on that touchline screaming at those players, moving them.

Seeing to many similarites to Mowbray i'm afraid.

prove me wrong. Please Ronny.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It was Collins' tactics against Spurs, Deila wasn't even in Helsinki.}

Give the guy a chance. If we all look at the bigger picture here we can all see most of the blame should fall at the board members doors. They've let the fans down more than anybody. As for the current players, they should be ashamed of the two performances against legia!

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe he should stand at a press conference and shout at lennon for leaving him all those duds

Agree0 Disagree0

How is it the boards fault all the time. These exact same players were breaking defensive records not so long ago and now they're leaking 6 against a polish team the only difference is the management team. Yes the board have Lexus down with a lack of signings for the past 3transfer windows BUT this squad should be able to beat a team of leigia ability. I'm sorry but for me the blame lies with RD

Agree0 Disagree0

I put the blame on the players. To me the players didn't show the necessary drive and determination in either game against Legia to get a result . Whether Deila is to blame, or whether it was the players themselves we don't know, I think the players

Mr Desmond is est worth of 1.8 billion every penny still in his shut tight wallet he is the wrong man for are club I would love to know how much he has took from Celtic over the years it's horrible to say but let's forget about ten in a row ther 9 in a row was won buy dodgy money any way, the only way forward for Celtic is to buy are club and run it bye the fans, this is easier than you think it's sticking together don't buy tops or any merchandise don't renew are season books the clubs price will fall in one year to next to nothing it's harsh and I know the same old Peaple will post it will hurt Celtic why do you want to hurt the club Sometimes it's worth striping something down to make good with a make over its time to take are club back or in 5 to 10 years time we will be siting in the very same position

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mr Desmond has said he will sell if anyone who he thinks has the interests of Celtic at heart .

Don't think a boycott will be required.

When the reality hits that there will be no champions league money surely the board will reflect back on their negligence.

It's all well and good having a business plan, but that business plan should be a step by step procedure.

When you make some good profit we should be looking to buy the next level of player then sell them for more profit and so on until we reach the pinnacle level. Whilst doing this have a youth system in place that is structured to provide at least 3 first team regulars each season.

Right now all we are doing is being a conveyor belt for low level EPL teams, who should not even be considered by a team of our standings players.

Seen a good post yesterday about Van Dijk being linked with an 8m move to Newcastle in it they reflect how they could have bought him for 2.3 last year but not to worry because if he has a couple of good seasons in the EPL he will be worth 16. This is what really annoys me, the arrogance that only playing in the overhyped EPL increases your value.

Let the board know we are after healthy score sheets not balance sheets.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I personally don’t think a boycott is the answer either Frewbhoy. It goes without saying that we all make up our own minds and if fans feel strongly enough to stay away then fair enough.

2 seasons ago we were all bragging about how successful Celtic’s business plan was, the cost of the players compared to other CL teams we were playing and the low average age. To say Celtic got complacent is the understatement of the century.

I think we’ll be lucky to get over 5m for VVD, just don’t think he’s done enough. He’s a good player in a poor Scottish team. Ambrose and Wilson were more solid in Europe than VVD, granted we had Wanyama in midfield but still. He’s another yin who believed his own hype. Think the only player to get over the 5million mark will be big Fraser.

I think we’re at a turning point (we better be), there’s no CL money coming and no big player sales. Not sure about sponsorship?

If Peter Lawwell’s as good as he thinks he is, then he’s going to have to really, really show it this season. I’m not sure how the set-up of football boardrooms work and I’ve never really been interested in that side of it but surely Peter Lawwell is an employee and accountable to the shareholders and investors – a lot of whom are fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2014 09:32:24
Ive slept on last nights result before I passed comment.
I see all the usual comments on here get Lawwell out!
It makes me laugh that as soon as we loose its Lawwells fault! he is our Chief Exective he handles the day to day running of the club and let's be honest Celtic is a well run club! he does not decide how much money the manager gets to spend I am almost positive that is down to the board and one man in particular Desmond! he may be our majority share holder but I personally feel he has far to much say in what happens at Celtic! he treats us like his little toy! why does this man not put his money where his mouth is! it is estimated he is worth 1.8 Billion surely if he was a Celtic fan he could spare a few million at the start of the season to buy some quality players so we have a better chance of making the champions league. he could make that money back with the revenue champions league brings. its called speculate to a cumulate!!
And as for Ronny Delia let's give this guy a chance! he has a vision for celtic and he is trying to implement that vision its not going to happen over night I read Scott brown in the paper saying his training methods are as good as he has ever seen. he needs to be given the chance to rebuild celtic and not just the first team but right through the youth team so they all play the same way it took him a few year to take his old team to where they are now! the great Alex Ferguson took a few year to get United to where he wanted them rome was not built in a few days I know we all want instant success but honestly believe we need to give this guy time!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Utter garbage dermot doesn't need to dip into his pocket cfc need to dip in to theirs and that starts from lawwell . As for ronny he has had pre season to figure out a system and told us he poured over numerous videos etc and we've just witnessed 2 of the worst European performances back to back against low level opposition. Do I have confidence in him absolutely not I say cut our losses and appoint a real manager and either move ronny on or put him to assistant where he was first thought of by celtic.

Agree0 Disagree0

It makes you laugh. i'm glad you find it funny, you must be in the minority who finds last night funny. Peter Lawell the guy who's only the chief executive has hired a manager who is under qualified for the job, apparently there was 5-10 candidates? RD being the outstanding candidate? This is Celtic and it's 2014 you don't get time to build a team, if you don't hit the ground running your offski as the history books will show you. If RD were to have a Tony Mowbray moment and we loose 4-0 against st mirren he will be away, I don't blame RD as stated earlier the guys been chucked into at the deep end.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gaz I have also slept on this! I said last week it's Desmond's fault! But for ronny he is a bad manager, for making mulgrew captain last week and his dreadful and shocking game, he makes him captain again last night! The only thing Charlie can do is hit a dead ball ok, he is no beckham on the dead ball either. I'm saying it years he is a Motherwell player at best! So I do believe people deserve a second chance he had his last night and gave him captain again! Makes me laugh! The donkey gave away two pens and was at fault for two goals! Should not of made the bench, transfer list is what he should of made! Enough said on delia the man has made two dreadful decisions! In my opinion won't be at celtic for long!

Agree0 Disagree0

I couldn't have said that better myself. I still think Lawell has a lot to answer for though. DD might hold the purse strings but Lawell is the man implementing 'his plan' for the club and right now it's not working. I also have to take my hat off to Neil Lennon as I think it now shows what a remarkable job he did for us with the players at his disposal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jim1972 & IanL right here it is NOT DD fault It is PL's and the board he is the chief exec to run this business it is HIS responsibility on a day to day basis, DD has many interests and has NO day to day involvement! RD is now living on borrowed time like it or lump it If RD had a pair he would send out against St Johnstone the likes of Fasan, Fisher, Fraser, Irvine, George, Henderson, McGregor, Atjic because NOT ONE player is buying into this system a suspect they under RD & JC are being worked/trained too hard and don't like it one bit and have already "downed tools" atvb

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree jamiebhoy think deila's lost the dressing room I think the only way he can stay in the job is have a big clear out of lennon's favourites get some guys in like may and armstrong new faces who will appreciate playing for celtic

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not sure if Ed007 can confirm but I don't think DD can just open his wallet and give Celtic 10 million for transfers as he is just a shareholder like so many others.

Peter Lawwell is the figurehead for the board as he is the clown who comes out when things are good to crack jokes about Rangers, tell us we can have 4 million pound players and generally embarrass himself and our club. I personally think he deserves the flak he gets as he has put himself in the position to be fired at in the first place.

With regards to RD I supported him at the start but I feel he is out of his depth. He looked absolutely out of ideas last night every time the camera went onto him. Reminded of Mowbray that night at St Mirren. A blind man could see that their keeper couldn't catch a cold so why not stick Balde on from the start, get the ball wide and tell him to get at the keeper at every opportunity? Griffiths had to start too as one of the few who can create goals from nothing.

This is my first time ever posting but I felt like I had to now. Eamon the presenter on ssn this morning even said (but Celtic sell all there best players).
We have become a laughing stock and the board are to blame for this. We the fans pay good money each year to be entertained by our beloved team.
The only way things will change is if the money stops coming into the board. A mass boycott/protest is needed.
The old saying "you have to be cruel to be kind" springs to mind.
If we boycott matches and stop buying merchandise our beloved Celtic will still be there, hopefully the board will not!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sorry to disagree with you. On your first post . I honesty don't think our supporters are United enough to boycott the club sufficient to bring about change . We who love the club are the supporters who would suffer the most

I'm more angry than gutted, mr lawell and Desmond have to hang ther heads in shame it is a crime what they have done to Celtic, time for them to go we have to start over again and I would rather have them gone its time to take are club back Never when Lenny was in charge was I scared of meeting any team at this time if we got rangers in the next cup round I would be sh"ting my self it's time for a complete clear out at Celtic starting with the men at the top

I wonder how long it'll be now before we start seeing new signings coming through the doors at parkhead? My feeling is it won't be long. That's all the board and peter lawell can do to keep the fans happy now after this calamity. Well do u know something mr lawell. To little to late! Absolute P1sh, and the blame lies at the board. Not one of those players should be kept, a disgrace.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The players available should have been able to make a far better fist of qualifying . I think the players should take a good hard look at themselves . I think only Matthews and McGregor tried I would get rid of the lot, and if necessary play the youths. Deila must have lost the dressing room . In that case the players would be better gone, they were never that irreplaceable .

One more thing. Before I wake up for work really hungover . I myself love Emilio as a player who genuinely looks like he loves playing for celtic. But since even before his injury to me looks like a player who has never known how to defend . He's good going forward but an absolute liability at the back. Can't mark for his life. I love celtic, depressed here but his first season apart he is another one not good enough. Disaster waiting to happen

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Last night I watched bbc alba, and was impressed at the way hibs played against rangers, they were'nt perfect, far from it, but they passed to their teammates, controlled the ball passed it on at speed to another teammate, ran into good positions, it was like watching a european team playing against a scottish team years ago, tonight I was at murrayfield, celtic were atrocious, the basic things like ball control and passing were lamentable, somethings gone wrong, I am not in the blame lawwell brigade, he's given a young manager a chance, I think that's to be applauded, so I am beginning to blame rd, although maybe there be a barry ferguson clone in the dressing room, ref plg
