This isn't rocket science and I know it can be difficult getting rid of players but here goes.
Zaluska, Matthews, Kayal, Mcgeoch, Forrest, The fridge, Balde, Pukki, Tampon, Rogic. All pretty useless to us though Matthews is a good player he always injured and we have plenty of cover there.Altogether prob in the region of 12m we could get in for these along with watt that's nearly 14m. surely we could get 3 really good players for that and our squad would be stronger or is it just too simple.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think you're being really optimistic (12 million)only Matthews and Forrest would attract decent money the rest are flops unlikely to recoup their purchase price and not likely to be wanted by clubs above our standard. I would also say that at this moment in time Forrest would be vital for us if he could just get fit and stay fit as likely replacements prob won't be better going by our transfers this summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

This is my point he never fit, if your as young as he is and can't stay fit then its goodbye. most are in 500k - 1m bracket and Matthews and forrest would surely get 2-3m so it adds up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Zaluska fridge mcgeouch rogic and Kayal would be lucky to amass 1 million in total. No one will pay for balde derk or pukki poss loans so I still say 12 million is optimistic to say the least.

Agree0 Disagree0

You are wanting to sell 9 players and replace them with 3 what then happens in December if we get a few injuries and have no cover because we sold all our cover players?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think pukki is starting to give us some return, he's progressing and his movement is good so let's give the BHOY a chance but we do really need a big target man! We're crossing the ball with the height of sh*te in the box and maybe play a 352 with wing backs Mathews and izzy are perfect for the position but we would need another 2 cb to play that system.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's what the young players are for mate. Henderson McGregor Connell andof course the 3 players we get is that not enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

Squad is still going to be the same size though! U need experience in your squad as well as youth. I'm not saying it's not a good idea but unrealistic and problematic at least .

Agree0 Disagree0

9 players mate that produce practically nothing, would you rather not rather have 3 that do. do the math lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pukki has got it. Its a question of where he fits in to the lineup, of role. I imagine, for instance, he would be a great player along with hooper. I also think he good do a similar job to Commons.

The striker situation at Celtic hasn't been right since Larrson-Sutton-Hartson. I've no idea what the solution is, but then some folks are getting paid big bucks to find it, and palpably failing. Balde has an instinctive touch it seems to me and it would be worth figuring out how he could be at his best.

Agree0 Disagree0

You've still to enlighten us as to who would buy our cast offs?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok if by some strange happenings we got rid of these nine players and signed three players in . Is there any guarantee that the three players in will be any use either as they will still become from the cheap end of the market .

Agree0 Disagree0

@yourman, there is never a guaruntee signing players, but if we bought 3 x 3-4m players chances are they will be better quality than what's leaving an would prob walk into the team. All these players have contributed practically nothing wudnt we be better off with 3 that do.Thats 3 more than just now. @jim teams will always buy players, balde already seems wanted and pukki could find a career in Europe. Rogic is also an aussie internatonal, forrest/Matthews would be sought after. rest would find their level in championship or Europe.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with you that we should be signing 3 players to the value of ten million approx and that we should clear out some players but I just don't think your recouping of money from sales is anywhere near your estimate.
Balde is wanted on loan apparently and if they did want to sign him it would be way below his purchase price then he would want a payoff presumably because it would be unlikely he would get a similar wage to what he is currently on, the above would probably apply to pukki and derk. Rogic and mcgeouch would likely get free transfers.

Agree0 Disagree0

@jim we would get a loan fee for Balde. And if o I know Lawwell then there will be an otiom to buy. Here is my est:
Forrest 2-3m
Matthews2-3m
Kayal 500k
Rogic 750-1m
Tampon 750k
Balde 500-1m
Mcgeoch 750k
Zaluska 300k
Fridge 300k
Pukki 1.5m
=poss 12m Can you see Lawwell letting them go for nothing? I can't lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rayman I'm still not totally convinced with the flying fin. He has really done well in a few of the pre season games and the the first qualifier (under no pressure) but I still don't think he will be potent. Believe me my movement is good when I'm darting for a pi$h but my shot hits the pan at a better percentage! He has shown a bit of hunger and I'm looking forward on a positive note to see how he takes it into the week in and out of the league

Agree0 Disagree0

Glad to see you've got a sense of humour with some of your estimates particularly bearing in mind most of these guys don't play competitive football and haven't done for quite some time

Craig Gordon brought in to replace Fraser Forster? Don't think so, especially after his performance(?) against Tottenham Hotspur between the sticks . 6-goal howlers are definitely not the standard required for a Celtic No.1!!!

The Sno Man

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sadly, I am starting to think so.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Aug 2014 21:20:23
Wouldn't say they where howlers mate give him time to get match fit and been a keeper myself confidence and games are key to performance he's a class keeper

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - How can you justify saying he's a class keeper, what are you basing that on? Saturday was his first full 90 mins in THREE years and he let 6 get past him.
Any class Gordon had was lost in those three years he spent trying to get fit, it's only this calendar year he has been fit enough to do any proper GK training and that started off as a very slow process to protect himself from further injury.
Gordon will never get back to the level he was at before his injury problems, if you've been a keeper yourself you'll know how tough the mental, as well as physical, challenges he'll face in every match will be. It will always be preying on his mind that one awkward fall or heavy knock could potentially cripple him, you don't have injuries as severe as his without them taking a mental toll on you.}

Too much of a coincedence he was brought in at a time there is speculation about forster

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with you Ed no matter how good form he appears to be in, I think the Physicality and the Mentality will both present major problems for the goalkeeper trying to restart a career after so long on the sidelines .

That could just be the final straw for me if we go into the season wae gordon as out top keeper. don't think he'll last till xmas.

Agree0 Disagree0

He had a team of kids in front of him, plus Efe against a very strong Spurs team! Forster let in 6 against Barca last season. It happens. I think Gordon, if he stays fit, can be a very good keeper for us and I don't understand all the negativity, it was the same with Griffiths on this site. If you think it's a cheap option then have a pop at PL but I support any player who signs for Celtic.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - There is nothing to point towards Gordon being a success, people are thinking of Gordon from 6/7 years ago, he has a worse injury record than either Owen Hargreaves or John Kennedy. The last time Gordon was fully fit was the year Kennedy was finally forced to retire.
It's nothing to do with the cheap option, it's the glass knees and arms option that worries me, if Forster goes and Gordon is made No.1 I expect Zaluska to look for an exit, then where are we if Gordon gets injured, which by the law of averages is highly likely. If Gordon is our No.1 it will cost us this season, hopefully the Spurs game has shown the management that he is too big a risk, he's going on about being able to kick the ball up the park when the manager is talking about playing from the back, it shows how out of step he is with the modern game. Not many teams play Route One from the GK to the CF with one kick these days.
Griffiths has done exactly what I thought he would - not a lot. Hopefully he is moved on this summer, I doubt anyone would be too upset or even notice, and we can draw a veil over what can only be described as a verging on lunacy episode on Pedro's part.}

If/when Forster gets sold and we do not buy a replacement then I just hope fasan is a cracking keeper because it's inevitable that Gordon's going to get crocked! And zaluska is just not good enough! Let's just hope that we get in the CL group stage and either keep/replace Forster.

Agree0 Disagree0

SOS BHOY KEV BHOY & ED too all make great points here IMO I was a keeper and believe me it will be on his mind about the injury! Look @ Peter Cech and that "tea cosy" and a believe that is why they are bringing in Courtois, but CG is being judged by one man here, one of the most trusted people at CP & that is Stevie Woods folks it was him that decided not PL or RD, Before we hada manager! a trust his judgement to have introduced yoga to Gkeeping is clever! So CG will get a chance IMO but as a posted really excited about Fasan never seen a keeper with that much AGILITY a suspect being young, supple, the yoga is/has worked well for him atvb

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed reading those comments makes me think if my granny had balls she would be my grandad ( if Forster leaves ) ( if Gordon gets no1 ) ( zaluska might look elsewhere ) nothing has happened YET! And if it does what's to say we don't go out and get another keeper who turns out to be as good as the big man or that Gordon surprises you and has a really good season u never know mate!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - If I was you I'd prepare for disappointment.}

Yeah I'm with ed on this one to, ed Said last year that the board were gojng to pull stuff like this and myself and a few other argued till we were blue in the face with him, but the dude was right. I'll take this opportunity to apologize for it ed. As for gordon unless he is going to be lucaz's replacement so he can take over the number 1 Jersey then that makes a bit more sense. He cannot replace Fraser though! If he does then we will all know exactly what the board are doing! We will become just another small club at this rate.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - No need to apologise to me, Darren, I'd have much rather been proven wrong :(

Not a rumour but I can't understand why we trying to link ourselves with Atsu from Chelsea Delia says he wants wingers I would love to see ikechi anya in the hoops he looks the part when he plays for Scotland and I doubt he would cost that much

Believable0 Unbelievable0

After dismissing Atsu you could have suggested someone better than Anya!
