Ed can you tell us the situation with Vossen! Is the deal dead in the water? Or still alive? Is it possible we're looking to sign both Vossen & Ciftci?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - CFC's offer is still on the table so the deal is still alive. I suppose we could be looking at signing both Ciftci and Vossen, we really only have LG as a striker - I don't think RD sees Stokes as a striker - so we are a bit light in numbers for challenging on hopefully four fronts.

30 Jun 2015 20:49:17
What about Scepovic Ed? Still reckon he could be for the off? We're either after both Vossen and Ciftci and Stokes/Scepovic are off, or just the cheaper of Vossen and Ciftci. Vossen, Griffiths and Scepovic I'd be happy with. By happy I mean it's an improvement.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Hahaha I forgot about Scepovic! I wouldn't be surprised to see him leaving late in the window on loan if we get others in.}

30 Jun 2015 21:42:34
Don't blame you to be fair. Like so often i'm clutching at straws we'll see an improved signing in SS this season. Then again it would be hard not to.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - At least he knows himself he was rank last season.}

30 Jun 2015 22:22:36
I'd thought earlier we were mibe after both of them? If we are looking to get 2 strikers in? We could all pick someone else rather than Cifti, but he would score goals for us, knows our game and not scared unlike Scepovic!

Vossen is getting a bit of a hard time already from some, but not long ago "he was the one" lol
His fall out with Genk regarding ridiculous price tags hasn't gon away, leading to another loan deal!
If he takes his time to think things over then fair enough!
Celtics bid had reportedly been accepted so it's down to him now, at 26 he'll want the right move, so what he's been in England all day? He could be up in paradise before the weekend? Lol
The guy would score goals for fun in this league!
And it's the right place for him, he just needs to see that.

There's others out there but at that money and where he could get back too? This guy would work. Home and abroad!

Burnley in talks with Vossen surely we're not. Classic case of us dragging our heels again why not identify the target and get them signed up!! Rather Vossen than Ciftci. Anyone else herd this?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

30 Jun 2015 17:29:34
According to Ed we've had a bid accepted by his club. Do you have other info to suggest we've dragged our heels?

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 17:39:27
Think his options will come down to either winning trophies playing in Europe and getting call ups to his national team (celtic), or money.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I can't see playing in the English Championship is going to help his international chances which is one of the reasons he turned down going to back to Middlesbrough.}

30 Jun 2015 17:53:22
That's what I'm thinking ed if he just looks at Denayer who got in to the Belgium squad playing at celtic hopefully it swings it our way,

As everyone was so up in arms about it I thought I'd mention that The Washington Post has clarified their misleading story & graphic showing immigrant workers deaths in Qatar connected to the World Cup infrastructure.
As I explained at the time the figures were nothing to do with the World Cup and now the Washington Post have said the same people can maybe untwist their knickers about it.
I always say it's best to look at the facts rather than read newspapers and that doesn't just apply to football related stories but for those involved in the lie the original story served it's purpose even though it was untrue, trapping FIFA in a pincer movement between this story and the corruption story.

'Clarification, June 23: An earlier version of this post, and accompanying graphic, created the impression that more than 1,000 migrant workers in Qatar had died working on 2022 World Cup infrastructure. The post should have made clearer that the figures involved all migrant deaths in Qatar. A report by Qatar’s government found 964 deaths of migrants from India, Nepal and Bangladesh in 2012 and 2013. Other groups have cited a higher number over a longer period of time. A lengthy statement by Qatar’s government said "not a single worker’s life has been lost" in connection with the World Cup construction, while an account by The Guardian linked some deaths to the construction. Ultimately, we are unable to verify how many deaths, if any, are related to World Cup construction. This post and the graphic have been revised to provide a more accurate picture of what’s known and not known.'

Lies, damned lies and statistics.

Was all a storm in a tea cup anyway if you ask me. Didn't take long for every English journalist to pipe down though did it.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jul 2015 14:58:59
That seems an awful lot of deaths to me, if the Qatar government is implying that these deaths are all from natural causes, then how bad are the working and living conditions.
The fact that Qatar doesn't even keep a count on how many people are killed on construction sites there, surely tells you all you need to know about how workers are treated there.

So it's true we're after ciftci then! Cheap option again! Thought maybe we would get a surprise and go for somebody with a bit more pedigree! But shouldn't really be shocked! Same old stuff every season! I know we can't and or should I say won't spend silly money on players but I'm really getting sick of these run of the mill strikers we're continually going for! Ciftci is average at best,and he's a loose cannon! Don't mean to sound negative but if this is the guy we're after as our main striker then it really is a sad day! We deserve better than this! U think we would have learned with bangura pukki balde Rasmussen! But it seems we havnt!

Believable4 Unbelievable1

30 Jun 2015 10:04:09
The reason we are in for him is because he offers something different we have also bid for vossen.ciftci also knows the leauge and is still young but your right he's also got a bad side bit so did Di canio and we all loved him if it's true and becomes a hoop the give the bhoy a chance he might surprise you

Vossen is in talks with Burnley.

Agree1 Disagree1

30 Jun 2015 10:16:31
Cheap option for me mate as usual! Think he's average at best! If he comes I'll give him a chance but for me this is underwhelming! And it looks like vossen is off to burnley! Another chanced miss! But like I said,not surprised! Same old stuff!

30 Jun 2015 10:29:09
Gutted again! Again and again. only myself to blame. I allow my self time after time to suck in the total site talk that cums from the club to bump u the already depleting season ticket sales. our standard of player and ambition is getting lower and lower but guess that's who and what we are now

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 10:31:50
Sorry for being so negative but the reality of how site we are and how site we are going to be in future kills me

30 Jun 2015 10:34:28
Burnley wtf that depressing mate

Agree0 Disagree1

30 Jun 2015 11:23:37
Wiss67 to be fair Rasmussen never got a chance. there's no way he was ever going to get game before Robbie Keane.

Wouldnt worry about Cifti. Probably paper talk

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 11:40:18
Give it a rest, Burnley are offering him £35-£40K per week. Says more about Vossen wanting to sign for them when we can give him the chance of ECL. Cifti will give us something different and would be a good addition to the team in my opinion. Stop complaining and let's give RD a chance. RD likes his sort of player who is desparate to learn and work. Keep the Faith. Hail Hail

Agree2 Disagree1

30 Jun 2015 11:52:01
Totally agree with u Belfast! And it's not being negative! Ciftci is an average striker! And we've had far to many of them in the last few years! Wasted money on and endless line of sub standard front men,instead of spending a bit more on someone with a proven record! But I'm not surprised in the slightest! Vossen was never going to happen! Because there would have been a decent fee involved and a decent wage! Season ticket sales,new balance deal and 3 new Strips out this season and we're still at the usual penny pinching! And we honestly think we deserve to be in CL! This will probably come across to a lot of people like I'm jumpin the gun and it's still early and there's time to bring people in! But this is the same old crap every season now! And Uve got the manager and his 2 assistants tellin us about how if we went with this squad for next season they'd be happy! Sounds like lawells words to me! And means no money of note will be spent! Hope I'm proved wrong but I doubt it! Sorry for the rant guys,just fed up with this every year!

Ed did celtic bid for vossen.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Yes,}

30 Jun 2015 12:23:17
So what happened ED,did burnley out bid us? And Tam tim Think u should be the one giving it a rest pal! Burnley would never pay anybody 40 grand a weekend! Especially in the championship! 40 grand a week at burnley! U serious!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I don't know mate, I've been at a diabetic clinic all morning and this is me just getting online.}

30 Jun 2015 12:34:56
Unfortunately Ciftci will be targetted by Scottish referees if he is wearing the Hoops , if his temper tantrums and Ill discipline continue he will spend more time in the stand than on the park which is no good to Celtic!!

Agree0 Disagree1

30 Jun 2015 12:55:58
@TamTimTic1 what does it say about Vossen? He's got the opportunity to win a better league if he goes to Burnley and then get to the EPL. Celtic are not as good a prospect these days as some of our fans like to believe. We have to negotiate 6 games just to get to the CL and even then we'll be huge underdogs. People go on about players going down south just for a relegation battle, well that's pretty much what we strive for every season with our CL dream, hoping on hope that we can scrape through the qualifiers and maybe the groups. We have no genuine challenge for the title, he'd be playing against poorer opposition on a week to week basis than if he went to Burnley. I don't like it, it doesn't fill me with joy but as Celtic fans I think we need a reality check of how attractive our club is to a foreign player with no vested interest in the club as opposed to the MO and WGS years.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 13:22:14
Lets be clear no one anywhere in football can compete with England at this time when clubs like Burnley can offer £40k per week from the championship then players will follow the cash. Vossen is an average player his record at Middlesbrough last year was nothing special. Cifti is no better or worse and if another club comes in offering more he will go to them. That is the way of the footballing world these days. All we can hope for is to either produce a quality striker to find someone who is not getting first team football at their parent club eg Hernadez at Manchester United now that would be a great buy.It is easier to find hidden gems like Van Dyke or Wanayma as defenders and defensive midfielders do not score great numbers of goals, and can be missed by scouts

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 13:24:27
Cifcti NO NO NO, do not want him anywhere near Celtic Park, ED007 is John Park still recommending these strikers to Celtic or is Delia taking more of a hands on approach, it has been proven Park cannot pick a striker, we need someone like Moravcic who offered his services to Celtic but I think nobody at the club took him up on his scouting offer, or even someone like Hartson, someone who has played the position and knows what it takes to be a success.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Ciftci was one of the players Middlesbrough were after as an alternative to Vossen and the Turk's agent, a certain Mr van Hooijdonk, said there had been no contact with CFC so if it's true this has only happened in the last 24 hours, or perhaps PVH is using our name to force other club's to make their move.
I have serious doubts that we have targeted Ciftci but if someone has recommended him they should be sacked. There isn't a striker in Scotland, including at CFC, that I would spend any money on if I was a manager.}

30 Jun 2015 13:29:55
Fair Doos Kev, just get brassed aff at people thinking we should be paying well over the odds for a player who was not that special during his Boro spell. If we get him we get him, if we don't we don't. I totally trust in RD and compared to where we were this time last year, I'll take it everytime. Hail Hail

30 Jun 2015 13:41:36
I take it our bid was not accepted then ED

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Our bid to Genk was accepted and our offer to Vossen has neither been accepted or rejected.}

30 Jun 2015 15:17:00
Cheers ed I didn't know we had made him an offer. Hopefully he prefers us to Burnley

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The talk about Burnley offering £40k a week are well wide of the mark, Burnley won't pay any player that, Danny Ings was only on £10 -15k a week with them in the EPL.}

30 Jun 2015 15:41:41
Ur rite ED there's not a chance in hell that burnley are offering 40 grand a week! Heard Collins say that we are after ciftci! Take it vossen deal is dead in the water? Quite surprised he's choosing burnley over us mate! Would have done a job for us! But if that's who he's choosing over us then I'm glad we didn't get him!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I can't believe we've bid for Ciftci ;( This does not bode well for next season.}

30 Jun 2015 15:51:03
JC has confirmed we've made a bid for Ciftci. Hopefully were still in with a chance of Vossen and perhaps Scepovic or maybes Stokes are on the way out? Or are we just going for a cheaper option? If Boro are preparing a £1.8m bid for Ciftci we seriously might as well pay the extra couple hundred thousand to secure Vossen.

We ARE still a better prospect than Burnley. We may have scraped by in the CL in the past but i'm quietly confident that we will raise a few eyebrows the way we will attack sides this year. Added FIRST TEAM quality will be a big helping hand though.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 17:12:24
Well firstly Ed, A hope you got on alright at the clinic? (y)

A was wondering why you were not piping up Cifti but you have made your views now. No way Cifti for me!

1) He ain't that good

2) He is up in that biting charge ffs and accident waiting to happen IMO

Another thing when am on a rant getting a bit fed up of JC "piping up" with all the juicier bits of transfer activity , should be left to RD IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Cheers mate it was only my first time at the clinic after finding out last week I was diabetic. I can't get my head round the move for Ciftci, I'm really disappointed if that's the level of player we're looking at and expecting CL football. I've made my feelings about JC known in the past and nothing's happened to change my mind.}

30 Jun 2015 17:25:52
Timalloy, I have been saying for about three years now that Celtic need a striker's coach that doubles up as a scout at first a took pelter's for it but now people warming to it

All these shot shy / rough diamond types that cannot cope with the weight of the jersey is driving me round the bend!

Bangura/Pukki/Fridjohnson/Balde even Boerigter we were told could play up front did these guys muster FIFTY games between them?

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 17:37:48
Knowing us we'll probably not get vossen or ciftci! But it's clsssic Lawell I'm afraid! If vossens our top target then go for him! But again we drag our heels and then try and get ciftci on the cheap! But like I've said a few times,this doesn't surprise me at all! It's the same thing every transfer window!

Agree1 Disagree1

30 Jun 2015 19:19:06
Goodness gracious me. Guys the club is getting slated here and they have done precisely NOTHING except put a bid in for Vossen according to our knowledgable ed. Let them sign a player then make a judgement you are judging them before they have even committed the crime so to speak lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 19:40:50
Maybe Celtic are trying to get Vossen to make his mind up by putting it out there that we are looking at other options. All this is I think is a game of cat and mouse. I could be wrong though

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 20:20:04
If it is Ciftci we are going for at least he would put some bite into our attack. (see what I did there)

Am sorry to hear that Ed, Your well being is more important than the fitba' (Y)

If it is any consolation my grandfather had and controlled it for years and years (ironically an ex boxer too) so hopefully at a level easily manageable mate and does not curtail or hinder you to much moving forward ATVB (Y)

{Ed007's Note - Thanks mate, that's appreciated. Me and one of my cousins were the only male members of my family not to have been diagnosed with it and my dad was diagnosed in his 20s so I'm a bit genned up on it but trying to change my diet is going to be a nightmare for me.}
