Come on Bhoys we need to be honest, what we are getting from our team is just not good enough! We are all looking to blame someone but there is only one man we can blame and I am afraid it is Ronny Delia! He picks the team, he takes the training sessions, and he gives the instructions on what he is looking for on the pitch. Well I am sorry but the team are just not good enough far from it! I can not remember watching a more lack luster Celtic team! We create no chances and come 60 minutes we look like we are knackered! We invite teams to attack us with our style of play and the only reason we are still top is because the rest of the teams in Scotland are so poor at the moment! We can not allow this man to take us into the champions league qualifiers next season that is if we are even in them right now the way we are playing I fear for the league! Let's get someone in to steady the ship someone with experience! Someone who the players will respect! Cause they clearly don't respect Ronny! I would go for Ralf Rangnick current manager of RB Leipzig in Germany has experience at some big clubs has most recently overseen managers in a managing directors roll so knows how do get players in and this season has guided RB Leipzig to the top of the German second devision taking into account they were only promoted last year! This is by no means a big club in Germany but they are performing well above expectations he is well thought of in Germany and would take no Shit from Lawell he once took Hoffenheim up 2 leagues to the top Division in Germany but quit his post cause the club sold Luiz Gustavo to a Bayern without his say so!

A rank bad performance today but a vital win at the end. I don't think there is much point discussing RD managerial abilities as most people have now a settled view. I think we would be better with another manager but that will need the board to make a serious investment and appoint a manager with a budget befitting Celtic. Anyway it is still a delight to get three points. Just a thought for all our younger fans who continually are told by the media and press that the old rangers have enjoyed decades of dominance. Since big Jock walked into the managers office just over fifty years ago Celtic have won more league titles, won the big cup and build a great stadium, so much for their supremacy eh. We need to make sure we remain the top team team in Scotland or many years.

Agree2 Disagree1

03 Jan 2016 02:31:13
Grout64 see that last line in your post, we are in serious danger of failing on that if we don't ditch Ronny and get the cheque book out and add some much needed quality to this squad and shift some deadwood.

Serious question, would you trust us to beat Sevco comfortably right now? Absolutely no chance I would and that should be an instant sackable offence on the boards part on how much they've allowed us to regress as a club on the pitch. Awful, awful signings these last couple years have ruined us. We are now a bog standard side not much better than those around us. We should be absolutely light years ahead of EVERYONE domestically and we aren't.

Agree2 Disagree1

03 Jan 2016 11:47:12
Celtic forever, I agree with you I couldn't back this Celtic side to beat any team comfortably. My view is RD is not a good manager, he fails to understand the threat of the opposition and sticks rigidly to his formation. Were were lucky yesterday and actually I thought some players made very little contribution to the victory. I do have serious concerns about the ambition of the board and they need to have a strategy total the club forward, from what I can see they don't. In saying that I believe that just with the players we have another manager would improve us.

Ed

What are your thoughts sir?

We didn't exactly come racing out of the blocks for the new year

Equally a 10 man Celtic won the points on an otherwise uneventful day all round

Is it good enough?

Believable2 Unbelievable5

{Ed007's Note - It was completely dire and that performance today was nowhere near good enough. But it is good to see Leigh Griffiths has spoilt so many 'supporters' Saturday night - it would appear that some were really looking forward to us dropping points and they seem disappointed that we won.}

02 Jan 2016 21:50:19
Leigh Griffith hasn't spoiled anyone's night but he may have saved ronnys job. Clearly you think he's a good manager but there is a growing discontent that he can't deliver a team that will satisfy the masses. We may win a treble but that shouldn't save him as our standard of play is falling way below expectations on increasing regularity. I'm all for change at the top with lawwell Desmond and park but that is a long haul probably but I can't believe we shouldn't be getting better from our players and Ronny should go as he's losing or lost most of the support and I don't see him recovering that confidence.

Agree4 Disagree2

02 Jan 2016 22:05:49
Jim I would be more inclined to believe Ed007 summary than yours .
Just as on occasions Celtic have played quite well and didn't win ( Hearts match ) I think we deserved a win whilst playing poorly .

Agree3 Disagree10

02 Jan 2016 22:09:34
anyone of us could win the league and at least 1cup with that squad eh players, for me though its the manner in which were playing that's annoying, 1 upfront and no urgency in our play most eh the time and what they working at training? We've been playing this way for a year an a half and I still can't see any positives in it, no even in europe were its probably the way to play especially away from home.

Agree3 Disagree1

02 Jan 2016 22:23:36
For me it will pan out this month!

Jan window is the barometer of the start, Never mind RD for a moment if the board think a £2 million spend will fix this they've hit the festive sherry way WAY to hard IMO so they not RD control this aspect a £2 million spend then he is a sitting duck simple as that

With immediate EFFECT RD has to show us another system, our opponents have now found an effective counter to this one up front and that's that he has found it difficult even from the start of his tenure to combat this almost negative/ anti football he is coming up against If not he will NEVER survive this awful product

He came from a league a lot of teams are "much of the same" and to win they play there way out of it also from a league that only play 35 games a season not circa 60 like us so the repetition is easy to figure

But he is used to fielding a young side all buying into him and to date it is biting him in the backside and PL has lapped it up due to his reluctance to loosen the purse strings and it is us as fans that are suffering.

Agree3 Disagree1

02 Jan 2016 22:46:29
Ed please don't try and divert the awful performance by claiming that some supporters are sorry we won. Stop being a Journalist. No one can be happy with this performance, maybe worse than Motherwell. You are now trying to slag off the views of your posters. You are entitled to your views re Ronnie and Celtic but you are now claiming that Celtic fans on this site actually want Celtic to get beaten? You should be ashamed. The performances are awful. The poor performances are getting worse. Let's not talk about poor signings. These poor signings have got worse over the last month.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I don't doubt for a minute that there are so called supporters out there that were disappointed when LG's goal went in, it meant they had to reel in their hatred for the manager a smidgen.}

02 Jan 2016 22:48:45
Really couldn't care less who you are inclined to believe old bhoy but if you are happy to stick your head in the sand and think things are ok that's your prerogative. We may have a squad that is lacking in quality but we should still be significantly better than every other team on a more regular basis not slightly better as we are.
On a side note does anyone think Ronny can win over the fans who want him out in the remaining months of the season To convince us he can deserve another season?

Agree3 Disagree2

02 Jan 2016 23:12:27
I was in 111 today the support from the bhoys in there is 2nd to none when griff scored the buzz there was fantastic that's what it's all about. Celtic won today no matter how it happened we won and I for one am over the moon

HH.

Agree4 Disagree2

02 Jan 2016 23:52:28
No matter if you are a Ronnie fan or not - the team have been far from convincing far too often and as a CELTIC FAN it is very worrying as we go into the new year.
The comparison between last year and now cannot just be put down to the absence of VVD and Denayer or a temporary dip in form, there is a lack of confidence and apparently a questionable level of fitness and application.

Since the 'shackles' of European football have melted away we would have expected to kick-on and impose our domestic dominant advantage and experience, but we look unconvincing - even dire - and over reliant on Griffiths.
Too many of the players are under performing too often and we need a spark or two in this window to light a few fires under people and reignite the attitudes and effort.

It's not a time to sack managers while top of the league and in with a chance of two cups, but the manager needs to get much more out of this squad ASAP and add a bit more quality if possible in this window and deliver at least a 'double' or he will be given a very long summer holiday.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jan 2016 00:30:37
Welsbhoy could not disagree with u more! We won today and it doesn't matter how! Away and gies peace eh! So the 1st home win since October is good enough for you? Against Patrick thistle in the 90th min! With what can only be described as a woeful display! That's good enough for you eh. its this acceptance of mediocrity that's a major part of the problems we've got! I for one expect a whole lot more from the Celtic I love! That display today and the many that have gone before under this manager are nowhere near good enough! And anyone who can defend it or try to offer lame exuses for him have got there heads buried so far in the sand it's untrue!

Agree3 Disagree2

03 Jan 2016 01:10:52
Oldbhoy, in which way is Eds summary far superior or more meaningful than jim72?. How on earth can any team deserve to win a match playing poorly. Johnnymac is spot on with his point too, its not a good path to go down claiming fans would like to see the team beaten, that for me is shameful. Its smoke and mirrors for the real issue. the poor management team that they claim will get it right, so they go on the attack to deflect attention. Its fans blinded by their own celticness that's becoming an issue here too. No matter how terrible the team or manager are they just go along with it because they think it makes them more celtic than someone unafraid to criticise.

Agree1 Disagree1

03 Jan 2016 01:19:46
Ed 007 and b4 u mention the time I travel a lot for work 1st of all you don't talk for all celtic fans 2nd they are entirely entitled to their opinion but for you to say that they didn't want celtic to score because of our! Under performing team and manager is totally wrong gets me thinking maybe that's your thoughts but you don't want to post your thoughts just a thought!

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - What's the time got to do with anything, are you jet lagged? When have I ever claimed to talk for all CFC fans, when have I ever claimed to talk for anyone but myself? If you don't like it don't read it. And if I haven't posted my thoughts what exactly has upset you - the time?}

03 Jan 2016 01:33:54
LG goal celtic fans didn't want to see it go in? C'mon lad get real every Celtic fan me and you next to the other cheer every goal ps I've posted on here at times you had a go and said sort your life out I work hard for my family hail hail hate the current times not the fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Good on you, it's nice to see you took my advice mate and I'm glad I could help. God bless.}

03 Jan 2016 01:50:58
Don't post my opinions if that suits but our fans deserve better there would every single fan has no more or less than another.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - OK (yes) Let's just hope there's enough of it to go round AND keep everyone equal.}

03 Jan 2016 02:03:02
Of course there is! But ed I've posted an Irish post is it going on? I've had a go at celtic and Ronny on here but celtic fans? He'll no we all feel the same things we just have different opinions.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Who made you the expert on how the support feels? You have no idea how I feel, why do you even care what others feel or think? You should concentrate on your own opinion and stick by it, who are you trying to impress?}

03 Jan 2016 02:22:32
Trying to impress how do you mean? Is it by my post you didn't put on in irish? And how do I say how celtic fans feel? You ed 007 said they would be unhappy which IS a felling that LG scored so how we're you and expert b4 me you should maybe think b4 you post sometimes then there's nothing you can analysis to much.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You're even claiming to know what RD knows in the same sentence

'He'll no we all feel the same things we just have different opinions.'

So you know how we (CFC fans) feel and you know that RD knows how we all feel. What if people don't feel the same way that you claim we all do? How did you find out how we feel?
That's why you're better just sticking to your own opinion and not caring what others think.}

03 Jan 2016 02:44:10
So answer me what we're you saying about LG goal that's Celtic fans were what? Hoping that we didn't score is that you sticking to your opinions ed? Or maybe your telling fans what we feel hmmm double standards maybe you need to think b4 u post ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Well more people were interested in talking about sacking the manager than a CFC win with 10 men, in the last minute to stay top of the league by 3 points with game in hand.

Look how far we've fell in 2 years:

www.ptfc.co.uk/teams/senior/seasons/2013-2014/fixtures_results/0101_celtic

I wonder what kind of praise the manager and the team got for grinding out that result that day?
Hhhmmm....?

03 Jan 2016 03:03:11
Well we can only beat what is in front of us and that's not much that said I support celtic not the rest I expect us to sweep all a side while that other team is away because we won't be challenged by the rest if your happy by scrapping past the rest fair play let's see if your happy scrapping next year.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I've said all along we should be rattling up trophies since Rangers went belly up and so far RD is doing that. Were we dominating Scottish football under NL whose trophy count with and without Rangers wasn't the best? I honestly hand on heart thought NL would have got us a treble, when he didn't it was time to go, he stayed a year too long for me.
Other fans don't seem to put the same importance on domestic success as you and me and it's all about the glamour (and money) of the CL.}

03 Jan 2016 03:13:13
Btw ed it was hell no not he'll.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I can't see it but don't worry about daft spelling or grammar mistakes.}

03 Jan 2016 04:03:23
U not putting my post up ed? Does it make to much sense?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - 007 is not about, and your post was aimed at him. He does need his sleep you know. }

03 Jan 2016 04:15:25
I thought when I reply on here it would go on regardless then when someone's ready to reply they do no?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not if it does not deserve to go up, we can choose to delete your posts if we want to. Also, if it is aimed at a particular editor, we hold it for them to answer as the sites are too busy to guarantee any of us will have the time to sift through the sites and see them.}

03 Jan 2016 03:24:28
I don't think he did he's better than Ronny even domestic but ed I've tried with Ronny it's just not good enough I want strength when rangers come up not one up front dodgeey transfers confusing subs commons having to prove himself at the start of every season fullback too far foward players too static manager too static fans unhappy we need to make change now we need to strive to be better.

03 Jan 2016 18:35:56

So wheres all the Ronnie lovers on here? Come on and give your exuses! Utter garbage pure a simple! The most uninspiring Celtic team I've witnessed honestly! Do we really need to put up with this pi$h til may!

Believable5 Unbelievable5

02 Jan 2016 20:31:41
Been on here defending RD for a wee but but that was awful. Sure we're carrying a few injuries but seriously, as I said earlier tonight. Didn't look like a team at all, no real intentive link up in 90 minutes, all reactive. Could not infer any coaching input in 90 minutes. Still believe that he needs time but not sure how long I can keep that up for.

Agree3 Disagree2

02 Jan 2016 21:15:28
The Ronnie lovers are flicking through the same Book of Excuses as their beloved leader. Either that or maybe reality is starting to sink in with them. The man is a dud. Weve been had big time.

Agree3 Disagree3

02 Jan 2016 22:08:06
No excuses. , I never make them, but the match I was at the ref turned down to blatant penalties . I don't think we can blame RD for Biton's stupidity or the referee's haste to get him off .

Agree2 Disagree5

02 Jan 2016 22:50:57
Old Bhoy get real. Forget the penalty claim, over the 90 minutes we were very poor. Totally rubbish. Carry on defending these performances all you want but no one is buying into this anymore.

Agree1 Disagree1

02 Jan 2016 23:28:00
PMSFL! (Oldbhoy) you been hitting the festive sherry too hard as well?

"No excuses, A never make them" fkin really?

It's usually the refs, the SFA, the media a could go on lol :-)

Agree3 Disagree1

03 Jan 2016 01:15:34
Johnmac forget the incidents that could have changed the game in Celtic's favour much earlier . Forget the fact we actually won the match .
Ok nobody is arguing that we couldn't have been more impressive but we had a ref who was keen to see us not winning and we won .
Fans like u concentrate on the negatives a lone .
As for Jamiebhoy, he just can't bear the truth re referees and media .

Agree2 Disagree4

02 Jan 2016 19:44:22
Lots of people wanting to see a new striker coming in January, as do I. But as long as Ronny is in charge he'll only ever play one up top and at the moment it'll always be Griffiths. Is a new striker just going to sit next to Cole and Ciftci on the bench?

It baffles me that a manager can't change his system to play 4-4-2, or 3-5-2 or 4-3-3 at home when we have 70% of possession in most games. There's no need for 2 holding midfielders.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

02 Jan 2016 20:23:10
That's right NT, That's the first change I would make, One holding midfielder, me personally I would make it Johnansen that's the bit I don't get, he plays there for Norway and he is fab at but like a deep anchor sweeper

That way your FB's could marauding up and down with natural coverage

Then we work out which CH we have that can actually PLAY the ball

The front five? A honestly don't know with our personnel 3-2, 3-1-1? But we are so disjointed back to middle no fkin wonder we can't get it further forward with any cohesion

RD must see this surely? He must know by now that we don't need two CDM'S? (Y)

Agree3 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 22:13:21
With all the resources that Chelsea have including massive Russian wealth, they played last week with no one up .
The problem Celtic have is that at times the three attacking midfielders don't get into the box quickly enough and at the right time and in right order . There is no problem playing one up front . Our opening goal against Hearts was a sublime effort with no one up front as such at the time .

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 23:47:03
Our opening goal against hearts was a good goal from a midfielder, it doesn't matter if we have 1 up front or 6 upfront when a midfielder scores a good goal. I don't get your point. Also Chelsea have Costa, falcao and Remy who are all great strikers, but none were available, so that's also irrelevant.

I do agree the attacking midfielders don't get into the box and its usually our one striker who is trying to put the ball into the box, if we had another striker he could be in there.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jan 2016 01:22:51
Costa, a great striker suspended for more games than goals he scored,
Falcao injured nearly two years ago and came to EPL to pick up massive pension has hardly kicked a ball for either the two clubs who threw fortunes to him
Is Remmy good enough, must be billions of money from Russia that has to be spent

If the Might of Russia can't field one or more strikers how can a club from a small country with little going for it manage.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jan 2016 07:43:12
Your point is actually pointless, abramovich has millions, but he can't spend it in December. So what difference does millions make if his 3 good strikers are unavailable.

If Celtic had 8 good strikers RD would still only play one which in my opinion is a mistake. We had 2 strikers on the bench today, why not put on Griffiths for biton and play 4-4-2?

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jan 2016 21:22:50
Why couldn't he spend money in Decenber . All he had to do was to sign a player who wasn't contracted .
A man with Abamovich contracts could easily arrange for a player to buy out his contract and then buy him . Maybe regarded by some as sharp practice but sharp practices never was a problem to Abamovich and his country people .

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 19:07:42
Well that's 90+ minutes of my life I won't get back. Terrible performance just glad of the 3 points. Sums it up when Efe was, for me anyway, the best Celtic player on the park today. That little moment when he ran up the right wing, I soooh wanted him to keep going and at least have a shot but, he suddenly realised that he was over the halfway line and stopped so he could pass the ball to someone else.
Professional footballers my arse! Should be charged under the trades description act.
Never even seen the goal. Couple of guys arrived late so everyone had to stand up to let them pass. Same two guys before half time had everyone up while they went to toilet/ tea etc. early. Late coming back so upsadaisy again and, to cap it all, . they were leaving early and were right in front of me when goal was scored. Selfish twats.
BTW - Does anyone know why all the twinkle lights (mobile phones? ) went on? Weird.

02 Jan 2016 22:22:12
I don't need excuses for RD today. Only a half wit like yourself Johnnymac, wouldn't want to discuss the blatant penalties not given . I suppose you Jonnnymac blame RD for Biton's sending off . The biggest joke is how anti RD's like yourself claim to be Celtic supporters . A joke, u don't know the meaning of supporter .

Agree2 Disagree1

02 Jan 2016 23:39:12
Old Bhoy here you go. So we were denied penalties in your opinion? Who are you to decide. The referee never awarded it so it's not a penalty so stop crying like a little girl. No one argues when we get one awarded when it was never a penalty so what does it matter? I don't think we had any complaints. I am talking about the way we played over the 90 minutes. You carry on but it's not me that's the halfwit. You talk total garbage arguing about penalties.. I offered you a 2/ 1 bet on Aberdeen and you ran away. You have no bottle. So from now on I am not going to waste my time responding to any of your posts. When the Ronnie experiment ends in tears which will happen this year we shall see who is right and it won't be you! End of conversation with you as its a waste of time.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jan 2016 01:30:50
Johnymac These things even themselves out over a season . Celtic get a penalty they shouldn't ( referee human) get 6/ 8 deserved, 2 denied 20 stonewallers . Opponents get 5/ 6 deserved seven / eight undeserved. And denied 3/ 4 .

02 Jan 2016 20:54:29
We're no far away from the mowbray era over again, I seriously can't really see anything that has improved under him and celtic has went backwards only thing saving him is that rangers aren't in the spfl or he'd be sacked already . since rangers disappeared and started up again we should have went from strength to strength and been miles ahead on the park and blooding more youngsters imo.

02 Jan 2016 22:27:37
Please God a Celtic supporter who doesn't cheer a last minute winning goal. O M G and he says he is a Celtic supporter .
If u can't cheer last minute winning goal in your derby match, then I can't see the supporter within Ed007 is right about one . Fair play to u at least u are honest .

02 Jan 2016 22:46:00
I have no understanding of this fans don't want Celtic to win. If Fans have doubts about the Manager then why don't you ask them the reason, I can guarantee they will have plenty based on performances

If Ronny wants fans off his back, the only way to do this is on the Park. It's quite simple really.

We can all moan and gripe about today, but reality is Lawwell is responsible for whatever concern each one of us as supporters has!

This project of "wheeling and dealing" is a massive failure! Its a deflection method to milk club dry and replace with sub-standard players who should not even be anywhere near a celtic strip nevermind play for our club!

Its time we unite and force these rogues out our club!

Believable12 Unbelievable2

02 Jan 2016 18:04:29
Lawwell is over-paid, arrogant etc etc however he isn't responsible for motivating the team or the soulless performances that we've seen.

I agree Mrs E. Its up to the coaching staff and Manager, players themselves need to have the fire in their belly too. Its just not working out. The whole club does need a good shake because were slipping into a coma as fans watching and as a club in general.

Totally agree.

Will the Board trust RD in January with funds? Doubt it.

Do I trust the Board? No!

We are faithful through and through but the board etc are testing our patience.

Disgusted, frustrated and bewildered but like us as all i will continue to support my team but it's clear RD is not the man to take us forward and JC And JK are offering nothing in my opinion!

Agree3 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 19:07:20
Mrs E i would of agreed with you regards who is responsible for motivating team, had Deila been able to bring his own backroom team i would of been of same opinion. However when having an assistant selected with an ego like John Collins and a relatively inexperienced first team coach in John Kennedy, i struggle to see how any player can possibly be motivated in that enviroment. That my friend, is Lawwell and only he is to blame.

02 Jan 2016 19:17:30
Leaderless and lost and no passion or heart.
There was not one player screaming and driving the rest on.
There is no one on the bench who, if brought on, would have me thinking "Right, now we will see some action. "
Thistle were unlucky and sadly, their supporters showed more passion (and were noisier) than our lot. The GB did their best but no real passion by the rest of the crowd. I tried a couple of times but was basically left embarrassed. Looks like the apathy on the park has spread to the fans.

Agree2 Disagree1

02 Jan 2016 19:25:51
A couple of points. DN30. The situation with John Collins is this. What makes you think that Ronnie does not want John Collins as his assistant? Posters in here seem to make out that Ronnie does not want him but how do you know? Now if Ronnie does not want him he needs to grow a pair and sort it out. Do we really want a manager who is scared to go to the board and tell them he wants his own backroom team? If that is the case he is too weak and needs to go anyway. You can't keep playing the poor Ronnie card. Is he a poor manager or a puppet? Either are not good. So you believe Ronnie can't motivate his team because Vollins and Jennefy are there? Why would that stop him. Agree they may not be the best tacticians but how does Collins stop Ronnie motivating the team? Are you saying he is undermining Ronnie telling the team not to listen to him. Your argument is totally flawed. Do you think Tonnie would allow that to happen? Get real. This is Tonnies gig and it ain't going too well.

I'm sorry but RD is showing himself to be completely useless! Every single week he comes up with reasons as to where the team are going wrong! Exactly what happens on the training field Monday to Friday?

Johnnymac i take it you are not aware Collins was already offered assistants job BEFORE Deila was approached about becoming Manager?

Mrs E pmsl go on elaborate and tell us all why? let's not forget a few seasons ago you were one of the main supporters of Lennons last season in charge, absolutely ecstatic about a clean sheet record yet happy to blame the board for their failings in transfer market. Oops we never forgot!

02 Jan 2016 23:54:39
DN I am awRe that Collins was given to RD as an assistant. But you are claiming that Ronnie can't get rid of him regardless of how he is performing? Total nonesense. If Ronnie wanted him gone he would be gone or if Lawrll says he can't get rid then Ronnie should walk. I assume you also know that Ronnie had 4 of his own staff in there as well. Final point, where us this great fitness regime RD talked about when he arrived? Where is the high intensity football. Where is the improvement? Judge me in s year, well I am judging him on 20 months! Poor poor poor.

Prior to there goal there keeper made his first save in the SEVENTY MINUTE MARK! and even that was via a disjointed build up

I have NEVER seen such a lack-luster, woeful even pitiful Celtic team post McCann days!

Hard to bear never mind watch!

We've always looked less a side without him. Isn't an ideal dilemma as we should have enough depth but when you get people talking about football who just don't see how an important player he is I really do wonder what some people are looking at or whether they've ever actually played sport. Of any kind. Ever.

1st win at home since October! Things are looking up I guess! Woeful performance once again! But it will be everybody's fault apart from RD! Our club and this team are going nowhere under this man! We've not even the exuse of a midweek game to get him off the hook! But I'm sure the Ronnie lovers will think of something eh!

Believable4 Unbelievable2

02 Jan 2016 17:10:02
Week after week, we slip deeper into the mire, the club has to change, maybe Lawell will try to save himself now, and chop Delia, either way both have to go real soon. The Integrity of the Club is at an all time low, worse than the 90's.

Agree3 Disagree1

02 Jan 2016 17:29:21
And were probably going to read posts again about how great a guy RD is and his super genius with youth players. The Ronny lovers must be cringeing with each week that passes. For it is another week lost to real progress and getting rid of him. My dismay at the situation is slowly turning to anger, how on earth anyone of sane mind can keep defending this utterly shambolic management team is beyond me.

Agree1 Disagree2

02 Jan 2016 17:51:58
Bhrydobhoy, I can't argue with that. Still believe in my "pragmatic" approach in absence of viable alternatives but beginning to see us ever more as great example for sunk cost fallacy. Not trying to sound smart arsed (imagine if I put in some effort) but that was woeful to say the least. Realise it is a bygone time but Benfica and Juventus etc used to see Parkhead as a fortress and all SPL teams used to be happy to struggle for a point. Realise also that we no longer have the likes of Naka or the greats but good god, we should be rattling Plastic WHistle on a new years derby.

02 Jan 2016 21:46:06
Most of us have known that for the last 6/ 7 yrs we have struggled without our captain S Brown .
We definitely were refused two clear- cut penalties in the first half, although it seems to be anti Celtic fan to say that .
Biton was stupid but other players wearing different colours didn't get a booking for worse tackles.
I thought we played better with 10 men and it was v good to put up a fight and get the goal.
Over all I wouldn't try to claim this was a decent performance today but a win is a win and is always welcome .

I agree there is something missing from the club just now. On the pitch and in the stands it seems all very negative and doesn't seem to be much belief. No players willing to take a chance, don't know if that's down to a lack of confidence or a lack of ability!

Good target for Celtic would be

Schone of Ajax

Great in the hole and good on the ball

That doesn't read well but he would nonetheless be a realistic target for Celtic.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

02 Jan 2016 15:54:09
I think he's a great player. dunno how realistic a target he is. Plays regularly for ajax so I don't think they'd sell him for less than about 5 million.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 12:22:05
Ed and the rest

If you had to choose ONE POSITION only and ONE REALISTIC target in the January window who would that player be.

To keep a flow it would be cool if we simply offered player name and position and avoided being critical or cynical bout those names put forward. This would give us an insight to the fans view on the weakest area

Will we get a consensus? Do we ever

Note, the signing can involve a system change to accommodate the new player and your current favourites

If you can't put a name on the player you can propose a type of player

For me

Centre half
Tough tackling ball winning good in the air in the mould of Marc Rieper and a system change to 442.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

02 Jan 2016 14:03:28
I can't disagree with your post and I have always been a strong believer in building a team from the back. a good solid central defensive partnership instills confidence not only in thd rest of the team but also to us. the fans!

Not really sure who is out there that would enhance our team but it is an area that we struggle to find the right player for with the exception being last season.

Best wishes to all for 2016.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 15:40:56
Central defender is essential. "Realistic" is the real challenge. Realise he didn't settle here but if we could get Kelvin Wilson back I'd be happy. That or vintage Baresi :)

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 21:55:52
If there was a player like big Vic or even a N Lennon who would cover the defence and make a simple pass to a player nearest him. Too many players think they can play more than they can and are not disciplined enough to carry out the holding role .

So all this talk what would u say mcgeady yes or no?

Believable1 Unbelievable3

02 Jan 2016 09:08:39
Usual rubbish to sell papers. Maloney fletcher Anya le fondre long mcmanaman the list goes on of guys who can earn 35k in the championship but are linked to celtic and there famous wage cap. Chris Sutton gets some stick on here but he is bang on with what he is saying the board. They are sitting back and let Ronnie take all the stick for there failings. And there biggest failing could be Ronnie himself. So McGeady back here for 20k pw no chance. And even if there was an ounce of truth In the story still no. Break the bank on a striker not McGeady.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 09:44:06
Mcgeady definite no, all the skill in the world but his final ball same as playets we have just now and that's shocking, complete waste of supporters money if its used on him.

Agree0 Disagree2

02 Jan 2016 10:00:20
Seen him in the flesh at Parkhead for the Scotland v Eire game and honestly, he wasn't braw.

In saying that, we are down to the bare bones of options at the moment but the wages would have to be no more than say Armstrongs.

Agree0 Disagree1

02 Jan 2016 10:56:03
McGeady easily a better player than. Armstrong, Forrest, GMS, McGregor, so I'd love to know why Celtic fans wouldn't want him.

Agree1 Disagree1

02 Jan 2016 11:02:47

He didn't even play the full 90 mins in either games.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 11:27:51
Great talent but greedy. selfish . mostly picks wrong option on final ball . never fulfilled potential here or elsewhere . would cost too much in wages and transfer fee . hopefully paper talk.

Agree0 Disagree1

02 Jan 2016 11:41:36
Mrs E good to see you posting again, we have missed your knowledge on here, Happy New Year to you and your boys.
As for McGeady I am with you NO NO NO better players and more value elsewhere.

Agree1 Disagree2

02 Jan 2016 11:43:37
Mcgeady would improve this Celtic team and give a much needed creative spark if he does sign play him behind griff.

Agree1 Disagree1

02 Jan 2016 11:43:53
I would say ( based on form and fan interest and an element of fan unrest ) a potential " yes " but does he have the hunger? Is he the type that can educate others and bring them on? Is he still mcgreedy or has he learned to bring others in to the game

What's his work rate like?

If the answers to these questions are no or unknown then we have to conclude that his signing would signal a sciesmic shift away from the alleged policy of buying young and developing or simply rearing our own

Cole was a departure but we needed that 3rd striker but that one ranks alongside Ian Wright and cascarino at the moment.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 11:51:26
Mrs E he obviously didn't have the best of games but can you honestly tell me he is not a better player than most of our current squad?

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 12:00:49
McGeady, please be serious he was no good when he played for us before and has done very little since then apart from collecting huge wages. He is not a champions league standard player and I don't think there is any need to have him for domestic games, we have enough passengers currently and should spend more wisely than that.

Agree0 Disagree2

02 Jan 2016 12:03:26
Lubo

On form ( back then IE in the past) he was better than anything we have now. But is he better currently?

In saying that he plays at international level for a team that has qualified for a major championship finals whereas his contemporaries at Celtic park cannot get sustained game time or caps for a team that came up short

Hmmmmmmm.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 12:07:43
Here we go on the usual bull transfer stories! There's not a chance in hell of mgeady dropping over half his wage to come back to us! Why Ronnie even gives this story the time of day I'll never know! Just keep your mouth shut! Utter garbage honestly! And even if he would somehow take a drop in wage it would still be a NO! Mgeady is no doubt a talented boy but to me he's done! He's not worth breaking the bank for! Another posters made a good point! Fletcher anya Maloney and now mgeady! Pees me off the utter crap that gets pulled out every transfer window!

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 12:15:04
To say McGeady was no good for us before is absolute garbage. If you said he was inconsistent then you'd have a valid point. And as for not needing him in domestic games? Have you not been watching the rubbish on show this season. He maybe is not a Champions League standard player but the sad reality is we are nowhere near a Champions League standard team. He'd improve the current team. No doubt. At least it would save me from having to watch Armstrong play week in week out as a left winger.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 12:28:15
Lubo

I'll agree with that. He is a better left winger than Armstrong

Armstrong of course isn't a left winger and is player there to ( a) play him and ( b) for possession

He is inside left or in the hole ahead of orthodox midfielders but that is not the system

We need a set up that permits two in the box ( minimum ) when wing play leads to a successful ball in to the box

Not necessarily a 442 but a set up that promotes numbers in the box at the right time

To poster that says McGeady is and was garbage, you should hang your head. A ludicrous statement and I have £10m reasons to back it up.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 12:37:24
I agree that he is better than what we currently have. I agree he was a good player for us In the past. But if we are going to break the bank then it shouldn't be on him. But I go back to my first post and beaver 81 has the same point. It's utter garbage. It's papers trying to sell themselves. The money in England is rediculous. If he is free to leave Everton he will find another club who will give him 35 k a week. Celtic will never give him that. And does anybody honestly think he is worth that.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 12:42:43
McGeady is probably better than what we have (used to think Forrest would kick on and eclipse him but that hasn't panned out) . I'd definitely be against him coming in though for a number of reasons. Firstly, his tail goes down too quickly when things aren't going his way (consistently for years) . Second, he would think he's a big time Charlie and be a negative influence in the dressing room. Off the field as well he was a trouble maker (used to wind up O'Dea on nights out like a wee ned) . Beyond that, our midfield would be better served by having a settled back four with a decent partner for Jozo (with Boyata dropping to bench) and a credible striker to feed instead of us relying on LG. Hopefully not a chance of it. A decent CB would be all I would want in window (difficult) . Sick of us packing our squad with midfielders that give RD more difficulty in picking a decent first XI. If no one comes in, we would still be on for treble, a decent run to put space ahead of Aberdeen could give us a chance to bring in more youth but can't see that happening either. Happy New Year btw.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 13:13:22
Firstly, I agree that the same old names are associated with us every window - especially ex-players like McGeady.
He did have some excellent displays and great goals - but not nearly enough considering the time he was at the club.
He undoubtedly Had more natural talent than nearly all of the current squad put together, but his attitude, selfishness and lack of workrate would not suit the current regime.
Add to that his record since leaving us and his best days are probably behind him.
However we are very short of entertainers and flair players and we could do with someone like that to get fans back.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 13:53:33
It's easy, we accept the down sizing and penny pinching that we currently have or we stand up and let the board know our feelings. As a regular attendee of games I constantly hear RD getting pelters but the board get let off without so much as a murmur from the fans. The reality is without change this is now our lot and it will continue to get worse. We are not quite at the Wayne Biggins and Carl Mugeltin stage but we're not too far off it! Honestly we need a change of owners guys it's getting beyond the pale now, I can't take any more down sizing! Hail Hail

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 15:46:00
Lol Wayne Biggins! I mentioned him in a rant a whole back as a potential manager way things are! Like the manager replacement scenario who would want to invest money in buying out Desmond? I picture a consortium headed by Subo and Kevin Bridges if we're lucky. Let's just hope it pans out and RD is the new Klopp!
