I think you're mistaken Janet.

There's nothing on skysports Celtic pages, Cardifff pages, transfer centre or even searching Bothroyd's name that links him with Celtic. However, on the Setanta website, the following story is written:

Hoops close in on Bothroyd
Neil Warnock is thought to be interested in landing England striker Jay Bothroyd on a free transfer but faces a battle with Everton.

The 28-year-old is available on a free after his contract at Cardiff City came to an end but, despite plenty of interest from elsewhere, he has yet to land a new club.

Warnock is keen to add some quality to his squad as soon as possible as the begin to prepare for life in the Premier League and the arrival of Bothroyd would certainly do that.

Everton are also said to be interested as are Scottish giants Celtic and Newcastle but Warnock appears to be leading the chasing pack and could get his man.

I concur, the story refers to interest shown by QPR, also known as "The Hoops".

It's cool though, don't worry about it :)

By the way folks, I think it's worth pointing out that QPR also go by the nick name of "The Hoops" and if there has been a headline saying "Bothroyd close to joining Hoops", it's easy to see why faulse assumptions would be made.

Still though, we live in hope!

Bothroyd has went to 1/8 it the bookies to sign for celtic. At 3pm he was 7/1.

Is there any truth in the wee Bulgarian maester Petrov coming home...Would jump at the chance...he would breeze it up here..you could have him sitting and that would free up the rest of the midfielders to get forward...oh and i.d jump at the chace to offload Scott brown..what dy'all think? Although I do agree with the offloading Broony part, Petrov isn't the answer, and if he is, what is the question? Don't think he'd be much of a keeper and he hasn't took a shot in the EPL for bout 18 months. We're not short of quality CM's, Kayal, Ki & Ledley, or Juarez if someone wants to give him a chance.

All we need is a decent GK and a CF. Ed, no rule breakin, but Amigo No1 (Shay Guevara or summat) & the De Negris lad, that's puttin a stop to this 4 in a summat nonsense. Lenny won't let us down.

As a Rangers fan, I don't think that the CM position is a position that you guys need to strengthen further than it is already. Scrote Broon has already been shifted out wide to accomodate for Kayal and Ledley. The main position(s) yous need to take a look at is centre half (2 even half decent centre halves that are going to be played together week in week out) and somone decent to partner Hooper.

How can you say offloading Scott Brown would be a good thing? Can't you see what he brings to the team? Drive, determination, will to win and maturing into a Celtic Captain. Lenny, as I do, can see what he brings to the team and will be going nowhere!! We don't need any midfielders, we need GK, CB and CF. When we get rid of the dead wood and sign these 3 players, we'll be in with a chance of the title!! Hail Hail!!

The 19 year old Kenyan boy that Celtic have been tracking, Victor Wanyama, is the brother of Inter Milan midfielder McDonald Mariga. Wanyama's agent claims Celtic have made a bid for the player from Germinal Beerschoot. He looks a good talent, just like his brother. Could be on to a gem of a find here.

Hopefully now that Lennon has signed his contract they will start making quality not quantity signings unlike last year.

Ronnie Culley in last night's evening times suggested that Celtic had already concluded 2 or 3 of their summer signings but were waiting until they anounced their year end accounts on 30th June before unveiling the signings on 1st July. I don't understand the logic in this since come 1st July Celtic will be away on pre-season in Australia and presumably Lennon would want his new signings with him. It would aslo mean that Lennon would be absent from any press conference to anounce these signings.
Time will tell.

Member of 3 different celtic forums and aparently were signing the young kenyan lad tipped to be a star player for the future vincent something cant remember also word on the sites is we are looking at the deportivo keeper and the leon best deal is aparently going to happen ( id want the young guy and the keeper but not best hes not better than what we hame in my opinion )

I think the Kenyan you are think about in Victor Wanyama. He was linked with us about 2-3 weeks ago but the story came up again over the weekend with word that we are close to a deal.
However the story I read (Mail on Sunday) was that Wanyama was to replace Kayal if we sell him. Would prefer we kept Kayal AND signed Wanyama.

Ed007 you heard anything on this story? {Ed007's Note - It does seem there is genuine interest but it could be his agent using CFC and Rangers to drum up interest in his player. I am still of the opinion that Kayal will stay unless a top dollar bid comes in for him. CFC are working very hard to sort out Kayal and Izzy on new deals along with Scott Brown. CFC don't need to sell so it is really down to the players themselves, if they want to leave, which I doubt, not this year anyway}

Leon best? Are we having a laugh here? A really dont rate the guy at all, surely this interest is made up! I will be gutted if we sign him, as i think he is another murphy. A waste of money which could have been better spent elsewhere even if it is a free transfer. Please god no! Lol

If Leeds are willing to sell Kasper Schmeichel to Leicester for £1 million, surely we should be jumping in there and snatching him for that much, we can surely offer him more than a tinpot midlands outfit?? Any news on that or other transfers ed? {Ed007's Note - I thought there was a chance, he is being pushed out the door at Leeds but it seems he is signing for Leicester}

leon best has been told he can leave newcastle so we would get him for free.
deportivo keeper dani aranzubia is rated at £2.5m but we might get him for a lot less than that as deportivo need the money.
