To gerrybhoy
i never said anything about the war in iraq or afghanstan or soldiers not to benefit from poppy funds, infact i wish the the soldiers all good luck and all the best in the world. my point was the british goverment never regarded it as war in ireland so the irish that lost their lives did not benefit from the poppy. would you like to make up some more logic for me? or could we just stick to what i have said. {ed's note - better yet could we drop this and talk about football instead!}

I said that the gb should not have displayed the banner, i agreed with it, but i thought they should have put pressure on john reid in another way.The poppy symbol, and the poppy appeal are linked, the wearing of it on the top is to raise awareness for the appeal, thereby linking them. You say the symbol is also for the ira, i would like to hear you argue your case on that one to your rangers pals. Finally you say, " i understand why some people don't give to the appeal" and then call me a charity hater, unbelievable! .
I think you have 2 sides, and therefore from now on i will refer to you as Andy Goram. I will not talk on this subject anymore, and will talk about football, something you never seem to do (Andy-gtid)
howsabout, if celtic do not sign a hard tackling midfielder like neil lennon, or murdo mcleod, the gers will hump us again, over to you gtid oops sorry Andy.

Re: Ok paddybhoy tell me who came up with the poppy, who it was for and are the UK the only ones to run the poppy appeal and use its symbol for rememberance? go on answer it . . . .

I said that the poppy represnts the memory of all the fallen in the wars not just the IRA like u have tried to make out.

Your posting parts of quotes to make out im saying other things " i understand why some people don't give to the appeal" i actually said I don't agree with it in the next three words but u omitted this?! wonder why.

Face it you don't have a leg to stand on, the second your moron fans did what they DURING a football match it became a football matter or is this to much for you to grasp?

Just admit that your club have been shamed and your image tarnished (within the UK at least). And for some of your fans to come on here and back the protests is a DISGRACE, they and anyone else who backs the protests should never be allowed into Parkhead again.

Gerrybhoy,
According to reports in the paper, steve harper is due back in full training in 2 weeks. The article also says all 3 parties want the loan to continue, so fingers crossed for harper as i feel confident with big forster between the sticks.

Right, the january transfer window isn't a million miles away, here are a few area`s which i feel need or will be addressed.

1. new keeper as big frazer will be on his way back to newcastle.
2. another centre back
3. hard man type central midfielder.

samaras, loovens, brown, hooiveld and crosas should all be allowed to leave the club.

I feel a wee bit sorry for crosas, but with the amount of injuries we have had in midfield and the fact he still doesn't get a game, i just don't see a future dor him at the club.

I just want to shed some light on what has been said, paddybhoy called it a war, this is an irish point of view, they call it the black and tan war. but on the other hand the british never regarded it as a war. the british considered the republican army`s actions as terrorism, not war. so the poppy is not a symbol for the irish that lost their lives. so can we leave it at that and get back to the football.

WHAT WOULD YOU CALL THE CONFLICT IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN! ! ! !

so by your logic the soldiers who have been injured and the families who have lost loved ones should not benefit from the poppy fund raising??

The only thing your right about is that we should get back to football

gerry bhoy

{Editor's Note: We need to draw a line under this subject and get back to talking about football.}

To gtid.
you really do talk some nonsense, you are trying to seperate two things that are linked, on the one hand you are saying celtic should wear the poppys on their top, then in the next breath you are saying celtic shouldn't be involved in politics. You call people vile bigots if they don't agree with you, that's very ironic. I don't agree with the poppy being on a football top, and i will not give money to ex soldiers, some who have murdered innocents, so suddenly i am a charity hater, get real, you are the one who has a closed mind, you come across as a bitter little man who thinks everyone should agree with him, but you have probably been told this many times have'nt you
paddybhoy

Re: No i disagree with posters like yourself who agree with the protests that went on at parkhead. The people were wrong even your club agrees. I didn't say u should give money the poppy appeal and the poppy symbol are two different things but u just keep glossing over this fact. Just for you since u seem to be struggling to understand . . THE POPPY SYMBOL ITSELF DOESNT JUST RELATE TO BRITISH TROOPS! the poppy appeal that is set up within the UK is for British Troops. It was the symbol of the poppy that the fans were protesting or were they that thick like a few on here that they are unable to diffirentiate between the two? Face it your fans were in the wrong BIG TIME and have been shamed since.

If Im so wrong Paddybhoy why have your own club taken a similar stance as myself and straight away came out witha statement that they were not happy and are looking to immediatley punish the fans involved perhaps with lifetime bans?
