Two very disappointed laptop loyal journos had their Celtic cracked crest headlines all ready if we had not scored tonight. But undaunted Jabba & Keevo have re written it to "Celtic struggle against diddy wee German team"
They go on to say that as the famous Rangers (oh yes they still are) are not in european competition the Daily Record and all MSM are throwing their patriotic weight behind one British team in the Champions League and Jim and Hugh say "come on Linfield" (or any team Celtic are drawn against) hail hail Timalloy

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Wonder which team the laptop loyal will favour in the SPL now that their beloved team are no more? JK

I'm never sure about friendlies but was so glad to see them score and win. James Forrest & Fraser Forster seemed to play well..a wee quote from the Celtic website:- 'James Forrest, who was looking one of the quickest and sharpest in the hoops' Mrs E

One of my neighbours works as a salesman for SLY (honest) with it being
close season they are working hard to sign up new customers. My friend and his colleague travel to different shopping centres around Glasgow, with their Sly van which extends into a small awning, they have a tv set plugged in showing all the channels.
Last week they were at Govan Cross pitching their Sly tv packages, to
nobody's surprise they met with little success and instead had a steady stream of unhappy Govan ex bears coming up and wanting to cancel their contracts. My poor neighbour had to explain time and time again he was SELLING the tv packages and could not cancel anything. He went home each night with a string of obscenities in his ear about Sly. He is at Silverburn next and hopes for better luck. Timalloy

Agree with the comment above! I'd take Barton also for all he is a bit of a nutter would still be a top player, wages would probably be a problem however

I would not give him a shirt in a testimonial match. The perfect example of whats wrong with modern day footballers. Joe McBride V Joey Barton: Compare and contrast...........green jhedi

Exactly GJ, Barton is an animal, i wouldn't allow the man in the ground never mind give him a shirt and allow him in our (unbroken 125yr) history! The man has stubbed a cigar out on a youth players face!

Stef i think your needing to stay out of the sun for a few days mate, he's trouble. I know Ed detests him too, anyone remember last years rant?

Listened to the Charles Green interview on Sly. He talked about being forced to live in safe houses in Glasgow. Reminds me of Neil and his family
being in the same situation. What does it say about the society we live in.
Its totally unacceptable and disgusting

you all know we are all out of business withut them visiting twice a year. or so they say.. take aberdeen for an example. 8000 for 3 years at £20 = £480,000 add £20,000 for inflation . so the dons are down half a million.. they sold Fyvie yesterday for £600,000. so they have made up the shortfall before a ball is kicked without newco in the league . don't thik they are as important as they think they are.. shamrock

Believable5 Unbelievable4

Does anyone know if we looked into signing Fyvie at all, or even showed any interest?
Maybe has not quite shown enough to be Celtic quality but I have always been impressed when i have seen him play. Hopefully he does well at wigan, a future scottish star i reckon.

I said the same thing weeks ago,the money wont be that hard to make up.The Scottish Press should be ashamed of the financial picture they painted.........green jhedi

Agree6 Disagree2

The Sly deal was a poor one and the amount BBc are paying is terrible.

Agree4 Disagree1

Aberdeen had to sell their most prized player for a pittance in order to make ends meet. GJ - how many other clubs will have to do the same and, if so, how will that improve the quality of football or allow other clubs to mount any sort of challenge?

Agree0 Disagree4

It's a fact of football life that every player has a price.Sensible clubs plan for losing players and replacing them with youngsters.More young players see guys getting first team places, more will want to sign for you.Dundee Utd and Aberdeen were very clever at this till they started paying stupid cash to over hyped overseas players.it's a natural order........green jhedi

Agree1 Disagree0

Well GJ I done work for two journalists and as well all know Murray hand most of them in his pocket and still to this day there told to prefer rangers too celtic.

St Johnstone said a few months back all they need to do is sell 1 player to make up the cost. It's sqeeky bum farts over the sly deal that's the problem, I still believe even if newco were in the spl they wouldn't be a force like they were last season which if they weren't then sly would just bail anyway

Noted that Lineakers and Hansen's BBC yearly combined wage of £3m is the same amount that BBC in Scotland pay the SFA/SPL annually for the rights to show Scottish Football TV highlights.

Lenny: I posted months ago that this should be the watershed moment for the game in Scotland. The BBC pay 500k for all their TV and radio rights to Scottish football, they pay Hansen DOUBLE that(plus expenses) to do one show a week! It's time clubs took their future in hand,if the deal is crap dont take it.The box in the corner controls so many thick, dumb people it is time to say enough already. Celtic (and rangers) kicking off at 12 oclock in Inverness and Aberdeen,no thanks.Remember Big Jocks words, saturday at three is football time, lets use this fans"spring" to reclaim our game..............green jhedi

Hi All,

i know this may put the cat amongst the pigeons but is anyone else fearing that this season will be a bore with the mighty hoops more or less going to win the league at a chanter?

Believable1 Unbelievable6

I dont think we should be getting ahead of ourselves.I think this team has still got a lot to prove, consistency is a problem for me also...........green jhedi

Agree4 Disagree0

I think we are far from the finished article as far as European progress (to something like we enjoyed 2001-2008ish) and we need 2/3 class players along the spine of the team.
We had a great chance of 3 trophies and came up short - referee decisions should not mask our cup jitters; although being great champions from a 15pt deficit is a fantastic achievement and should breed confidence to progress and improve.
Most of the SPL gave us some good hard games and several of pass the ball well.
So I reckon we would be daft to be over confident and just hope the 'Big Game' fans come out every week to support and enjoy their teams and if they can't sell all of their 'briefs' when The Celtic visit; let us take up the slack and fill stadia.

Now that Rangers are 'out of the picture' Celtic must be heavy favourites to win the domestic treble at least three times in the next four years. What do you guys think?

Agree1 Disagree8

We were heavy favourites for the treble last season , and we all know what happened, lets not underestimate or disrespect our rivals , that just makes you look silly if we don't win, shamrock

Hi Ed
Sorry bout last night did not mean to offend just got annoyed at replies you can't have it both ways patter..

All i was trying to say was you can't have a child paying £80 more for a season ticket than a kid same age that sits next to him..

I did support the team hence the reason i included Rangers games in his package..

But this Celtic need your money is nonsense even a gesture to all Parent and child who purchased Rangers package get to Inter game for free

But no as the P.R is shocking, that was all i was trying to say..

Keep up the good work

Jason {Ed007's Note - No problem Jason. We'll just draw a line under it as far as I am concerned.}

If Sevco refuse to accept the transfer embargo for Div 3 next season, there may not be time to get a new clubs full application through for the start of the season (as Sevco are currently transferring Rangers old membership).
Call me cynical, but could it be that Sevco Newco will end up taking a years 'sabbatical' before returning as a completely 'new' club next summer - voted directly into the SPL?
Nothing would surprise me with the SPL/SFA,......kbt1978 -

"It does'nt matter how low we get, the vast majority of Celtic fans want us dead and buried. The only way, we have at the moment, to defend ourselves is by cancelling sky sports and not banking with clydesdale. PS. . . is there other ways we can hurt Celtic/SPL/SFA financially"

This was taken from sevco site. Sums them up really. Do not seem to realise the club they keep going on about died a while ago now. Also why Celtic, the SPL and SFA? Was it not the oldco that brought the game into disrepute with all of the wrongdoing over the years? not any of the afformentioned institutions. Clutching at straws because SKY have an obligation to the Scottish game unless the SPL choose otherwise by not taking up their option to extend the deal as ED pointed out to me the other day, also the same goes for Clydesdale so closing accounts is only going to hurt the Scottish economy not any of the above mentioned. They all feel hard done to well if there was no wrongdoing at the oldco then there would be no need for sevco hence none of the carry on we have seen in the past 6 months or so. BacciBhoy

Believable7 Unbelievable3

Hmmm i wonder why u posted this and went onto the sevco site ...... to take pot shots .... at a team that (according to you) have nothing to do with celtic .. ur post came accross as having a dig at ur rivals ... if u really believe we have nothing to do with old co then y on our/your rivals site if they aint your rivals ... if we aint anything to do to with the old co then y waste your time with the above .... make up your mind either nothing to do with old co our we are the same thing repackaged and still your rivals and the rest .... which is it to be then ?

Out of the eight contracted players Pompey can't afford to keep, is there any you would like to see, or believe we could sign this summer?

Tal Ben Haim, Greg Halford, Erik Huseklepp, Dave Kitson, Liam Lawrence, David Norris, Luke Varney, Kanu? {Ed013's Note - Haim would demand massive wages. The rest would be very affordable and be very good additions, especially Halford as I really rate him}

Believable0 Unbelievable3

Tbh i dont think we should be looking to sign players who were not good enough to keep pompey in the championship but i would not be suprised to see us linked with a few of the players mentioned. Davie c

I read a post a little further down about season ticket holders upset at not being reimbursed because of the loss of the OF derby, but at the end of the day if rangers were put back in the spl and we had the derby how many season ticket holders would be complaining about that, we can't have it both ways.
We have to support our club and take it on the chin, the club will be losing enough revenue with the loss of rangers without having to worry about reimbursing us.
Though one thing I would love to see that could help is the u19 derby at park head and ibrox full capacity, plus it would be a great experience for the youth playing in a big atmosphere. Could you see this possibly happening Ed? {Ed007's Note - Will there be any Under-19 derbies?}

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Are the u-19's not playing at Firhill this season ?
