Ed mate, how come Celtic and Rangers don't get bigger allocations for away games? Every time I watch one of you play away there seems to be thousands of seats empty. Is it 'safety' reasons, or just rules that you can only sell a certain percentage of tickets to away fans?
This will be my last post tonight, feels like me and Real KB have took over the site, lol.
JFT96
Smithy {Ed007's Note - It's all down to segregation (and percentages). It is the home team that have not sold out their own tickets, at the majority of grounds CFC (and Rangers) outnumber the home fans. They would be better letting the home team use one stand and the away fans get the rest, the demand for away tickets with us would mean the ground would probably be full, or there abouts.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Thats all fair and well Ed and i would work it the same way mysellf, but the way season tickets are some holders would have to give up their seats for the OF and i cant see that happening, even if it means more pennies for their clubs. Another one of those scottish football ideas where it shuould be that way but will sadly never be.

That said change in general is afoot so you never know!

Evinguu {Ed007's Note - Just move ST holders, I'm sure they would understand if it was helping their club's finances.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh deffo should move em. The hibs game a few weeks ago is a great example of this. Hibs had 3 empty stands Celtic had 1 packed one. Im sure even if celtic had both ends or one side and an end the overall attendance would have doubled. We need clubs to accept this and realise the spending power the OF have within their fanbase.

It would be easier for non glasgow based celtic fans like me to get away tickets esp when they come play in perth and dundee or fife ( as far as my travel budget will allow, i am dundonian afterall lol)

I also rekon there should be a fully fledged neutral section where fans are allowed to mix. Only likeminded folk would go in these bits so dont think violence would be too big an issue, might be interesting as a one off. I know i would try it some of the banter would be interesting. Maybe

I couldn't believe how much QPR were charging either and that's through the club, so God knows what your getting charged mate, plus getting down there , food, drink costs a fortune but I love it. Come on Ed, A**m isn't all that good but Carrick? He's only good at passing it 5 yards to the side or backwards. Out of intrest how much does it cost for Celtic tickets home and away Ed? Do you up in Scotland get ripped off to, especially as when Celtic and Rangers come to town its there biggest earner of the season.
Mabye in a few years I might go to a Celtic game in the home end, would there be any trouble with me being English and Scots hating us lol.
JFT96
Smithy {Ed007's Note - The cheapest ticket for a home game is £26 Smithy. We get ripped off for away games £30+ to sit in poor quality stadiums and fill the coffers of smaller clubs just like you say. You would be more than welcome up here anytime mate, no problems there.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just watch out for a dodgy hoolie, dressed in black, with a limp and smelling of buckfast if you're up there smithy lad
The Real KB {Ed007's Note - Hoi you!! Behave ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Smithy, you're more than welcome at paradise mate....we're all inclusive, and you'll find plenty of cfc/lfc scarves dotted around.

Fair point Ed, but in that time we won our 5th, yes 5th Champions League/European Cup so we are still on our perch Ed and Fergie knows it, like he knows he will never equal Sir Bob and get that 3rd Champions League. By the away Ed you take the piss out of C*****e A**m, but how bad is Michael Carrick? Lol.
To be fair when you think Bilbao can only have players who come from the Basque region it makes what they are achieving even more special, Martinez, Llorente and Munain would improve any squad in the world.
JFT96

15 Mar 2012 21:16:15
No mate non of them were me, lol. I don't know how anyone copes in the Upper Anfield Road, full of kids and the away fans below, I bet the atmesphere is pretty crap in there. Looking forwards to Sunday now, just hate late kick offs on a Sunday they feel wrong, hopefully be a good atmesphere though, you going mate? Easy for me to get a ticket as I'm in the Auto Cup ticket scheme, so I get one in my season ticket for every game which is good. Bit overly confident there Ed don't be talking about trophies you haent won yet mate, it will only come back to haunt you, like it did AC Milan players and fans in Istanbul. Your luck of winning games you don't deserve to will come to an end soon, when the old guard including Fergie leaves, so enjoy it while it lasts, look at Rangers lol.
JFT96
Smithy {Ed007's Note - Or LFC 20 years ago ;-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm not a season ticket holder mate, as you know. So I have to duck and dive and be glad with what I get. But I enjoyed it. The lads around were singing away. Banging on the roof when we stood up after scoring. Cracking atmosphere. The poor stewards trying to tell everyone to sit down though. Lol. What a joke.
Sunday am back in the Upper Centenary. Ordered my QPR ticket as well, so defo there too. It costs a f'in fortune now mate, I tell you. I remember getting in The Kop for a quid something when I was your age. Lol. Bloody hell, I suddenly feel old..

Don't have a clue Real KB mate, I have my season ticket in the Kop so its difficult to pick some of the away fans songs up. I will ask around my Evertonian mates who were at the game and see what they say. Did you see that knob who tried to let of a flair in there end mate LMFAO, what a fail. On Bilbao, I've seen quite a bit of them this season, and in the two legs against the Mancs they've played better than I've ever seen them, poor mancs, I feel so sorry for you Ed 007, I really do mate, LOL.
JFT96

I was on the very back row of the far end of Annie Upper mate, so I could just see the smoke drifting about. The Blue Sh*te were hidden underneath at the other end.
Hey mate, I had a couple early doors in The Arkles with my dad, watching the racing on the big screen. There was a young lad with a two tone brown & cream adidas cagoule. That wasn't you was it ?

Chelsea looked a bit agricultural last night. Utd and Arsenal outplayed.
There was a good half dozen on that Bilbao team I would have taken there and then for Liverpool next season.
The Real KB {Ed007's Note - The English teams have certainly been found out in Europe this year RKB. I'm with you on the Bilbao team, they have some fantastic players in their ranks.}

I know one thing, the European teams seem to be well up for the Europa. Unlike the English teams who view it with a bit of disdain and play weakened teams.
Will Celtic play a weakened side next season when you're in the Europa !?

Smithy {Ed007's Note - GGGrrrrrrrrr.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That Bilbao side is about as good as I've seen this season (Barca excepted of course).
Here Smithy, what was it the Everton fans were singing to C****e A**m the other night when he was warming up in that corner - something about his teeth but I didn't catch the full chant ?
The Real KB {Ed007's Note - You mind your language RKB, you know the rules!! His false teeth are made from wood :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha, I actually thought of you when they were chanting at him !
He took it in good heart though, he clapped them for it. It raised a good laugh down the Annie Road end (I was in upper).
You are a biased man though ed, against anyone that's ever worn that blue RFC jersey. Jelavic looked half decent when he came on.
The Real KB {Ed007's Note - He was the boo boy at Ibrox when he was there RKB. CFC fans didn't need to give him stick, his own done enough of that. Then they get all upset when he said 'I'm not interested. Simple as that' after being asked about Rangers current problems. He owes them nothing.}

Good afternoon bhoys & Ghirls, I see the forces of Darkness have arranged another friendly in Northern Island. I feel this money will be used to pay D & P..

At the moment they are just running around frantically putting out fires. The whole administration process is a joke. They're up to their necks in the biggest pile of Sh*t in football history.

D&P are drawing from the ordinary fans again, can they not accept that these ordinary punters can ill afford these extra expenses, sure they love their club but mark my words, children will go hungry because of their fans misguided sence of loyalty.

Drawing from the same well everyday, don't be surprised if the well dries up.

There is talk and talk of interest from lots of parties but when it comes to "show me the money " time, few if any will be standing.

Simply put from a financial point of view, Rangers must fold and start again, there is no other viable option and I hope HMRC pursue those in charge at Ibrox over the last 14/15 years for the debts. Fraudulent trading is an offence.

Bad Bhoy.

ps Ed, don't try muster a jig for Paddy's weekend, lie back and relax.

Interesting read from the Herald

Plain to see the numbers don't add up for Whyte's investment in Rangers
I refer to Sir David Murray's claim to have been "duped" by Craig Whyte ("David Murray: Craig Whyte duped us all over sale of Rangers", The Herald, March 14).

My due diligence hasn't extended beyond reading various press reports, but if they are to be believed, at the time of the sale to Mr Whyte, Rangers had bank debts of around £18 million, had monthly trading losses of approximately £1m and were faced with a small tax case liability of £2m and a big tax case potential liability of £49m.
It would probably be reasonable to assume that a new owner would budget for a two-year period to transform a monthly loss of £1m to break even. Various strategies could have been put in place to transform the business to reach break even but I'm sure they would all have come at a cost. For the sake of simplicity I'll assume £7m.
Therefore, any potential owner would have required funding of around £100m simply to cover the existing debt, the known and potential tax liabilities, the expected losses for two years and the turnaround strategy.
I believe the market value of Celtic is around £35m for a business with modest profits and debts of roughly £7m.
It is not unreasonable to assume the market value of Rangers with a similar financial profile would also be around £35m.
It is not surprising that Sir David had failed in his attempts to sell the business over the previous four years given the prospect of spending up to £100m to own an asset worth £35m.
If we turn that on its head, it is fairly clear that Sir David would have had to spend up to £100m over the next two years if he had been unable to sell the business. He claims to have spent £100m of his money to get to the position that the company was in last year so would have realised, I'm sure, that he faced the prospect of spending a total of £200m on an asset that would be worth £35m. Furthermore, a two-year austerity programme to wipe out the monthly trading losses would almost certainly diminish the quality of the playing squad making success on the field less likely which would put pressure on the owner to spend even more money.
Under those circumstances, it should have been obvious that Craig Whyte was either a very altruistic individual for whom losing £65m was irrelevant or that he was a very hard-headed individual for whom administration pre-packs are a way of life.

Agree1 Disagree0

Keevins is a mere jackdaw of a man jumping on potential gleaming gems created by others before adding his own brand of journalism and turning a good story to dross with his added rants and childish musings. He attempts to bring wit and charm to his discussions but fails completely as he appears a bit thick and opportunistic. He is only surpassed in toadiness by Chick (hey hey ) Young another master of the art of split infinitive. The aloof attitude and complete confidence of this man beggars belief. Is he perhaps an alchemist who has found the recipe for the perfect story; more likely he has the recipe for turning a potentially good report into utter nonsense. He is no wordsmith, but he has grown prosperous on the frailties and insecurities of Scottish football and is in fact responsible like so many other of his ilk in undermining our game. He appears to revel in disharmony and negativity whilst lambasting ordinary folk for the prejudices he feeds from and from which he makes a very comfortable living. The man is a failed journalist, an opportunist and divisive.

Hi ed , got a call from a mate lastnight and he was asking if i,d heard anything about micheal kelly and other old board members at celtic being questioned on turnstile gate from 80s and 90s at celtic park , my mate said he heard from one of the stewards at parkhead , no sure if theres anything in it ed but my mate seemed to think it was true ( pure deadpan serious face ) cheers ed , tedbear {Ed007's Note - I don't believe you have got any mates.}

I hate to be the bearer of bad news tedbare, but your no ma da'....sorry if that disappoints you

btw, i couldn't care less who buys your mob, whoever it is, is going to be £100m+ down before a ball is even kicked, then the squad needs investing in big time, but even if the owner is a real billionaire, there's a wee thing called the fifa financial fair play rule, that means you can only spend what you bring in....so take into account you have no european football, no season book money, no catering, and no shirt sales....exactly how much money would rangers be generating?

me, scared?.....im absolutely p'ss'ng myself..........laughing!

Hey all,

My local side Gold Coast United looks like going to the wall as our owner, Clive Palmer, is somewhat upset with how the game is run here in Australia, which may result in withdrawal of funding. (he's a proper billionaire)

We don't have a massive following as AFL and NRL are easily the two biggest sports in Australia. For this reason it's been very hard for GCU to get a foothold in the local market.

I was wondering what people thought about clubs like Celtic investing in other clubs. Be they as feeders or a promotional tool in expanding markets. Do you think it could be a viable and worthwhile experience?
