Absolute disgrace Croatia losing this game tonight
Brazilian class of years ago 10 out of 10
This team 2/10
C'mon the Germans

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Disgusting last night, I wrote before the game that I wanted the Croats to beat the divers and it only took them 70 mins to prove me right.

Croatia played the better football, do doubt about that. The only Brazilian who turned up and played football was Oscar! Ivan Rakitic, Dejan Lovren and Ivica Olic had a great game, Pletikosa sold the jerseys but with poor shot stopping.

Neymar could've been sent off mins before he scored the equaliser, Fred dived for the penalty, Olic could've had a penalty for Dani Alves clipping his heels, they also had a perfectly good goal chopped off to level things at 2-1.

The first time I can remember seeing Brazil play at a major tournament was France 98, 16 yrs later they've never changed. Different players, same tactics!

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't blame the Brazilans for the inability of the referee to act in a fair manner . Last night was typical of what happens in most tournaments, the favourites get the decisions and the other team have to take it on the chin .
There is something wrong with football if Brazil win this tournament with the Hulk, Fred and Paulichno ( spelling? )
playing .

Agree0 Disagree0

@2 of course we should blame the Brazilians. their cheating starts at the top with their manager running to the touchline waving an imaginary card trying to get a player booked or sent off. the diving and rolling about, along with time wasting (david luiz pretending to tie the keepers laces while watching to see if the ref has seen him) pi55es me off more than I admire their skills. hope they get humped along with the rest of the south American cheats.

{Ed007's Note - Going on last night's game I'd say Brazil have paid enough to guarantee themselves at least a good run in the tournament.}

Your probably right Ed but we can only live and hope. the unfortunate thing is that I grew up in awe of the Brazilian teams of the past but they are way over the top now.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The first WC I really remember was Spain'82, I was 8 and was mesmerised by players like Zico, Socrates, Junior and Falcao etc, they were probably the best team never to win it, but they got far too cocky as the tournament went on and it cost them. Come the time of Mexico'86 I had jumped sides to support Argentina at WCs up until this year.}

Ed, sure you are still a youngster!
Did you know Socrates has an All Ireland medal playing Gaelic Football.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That's not true lol it's a myth that just gathered legs.}

He did his medical studies in Dublin and played GAA . Did he not?
Sure you were only a wean then .

{Ed007's Note - It's a myth lol, old age is affecting your brain

Spot on ed, Thot you were abt same vintage as myself lol. Great period in time for Brazilian players . Still remember josimars goal from right hand touch line, ohhh how footballs went backwards over the years all these teams get natural ability coached out off them, it's even happening with the African teams now

There's a new poll up asking Who will be the WORST team at this year's World Cup? To vote just click here.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well Ingerlund have the third most valuable squad at the World Cup behind Germany n Spain wi an estimated insurable value of £550m according to a report / study by Lloyd's n the Centre for Economics + Business Research*. Surely they're guaranteed a spot in the Semi Finals n there's no excuse for failure fi Woy's Wovers then, eh?!

* Fantastic use of taxpayers money by UK banks + financial institutes btw!

A thought it was the Belgians HB atb?

What has taxpayers money got to do with it?

Agree0 Disagree0

It was Lloyd's Bank and Cebr who carried out the study, not the Belgians. Where d'you think the funding came from? From Lloyd's "massive" profits?

I managed to get a look at the new kit yesterday, defo looks better in the flesh. Still a bit to pricey for me though.
That aside, I'm so excited the best footie competition in the known universe starts later, come on anyone barr England! I farkin love the World Cup!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I hope you're playing our World Cup score prediction competition, Rab. If not just click here. First prize is £25 cash paid into your paypal account or £25 to spend in the club shop of your choice.}

Just had a go there. You in Ed? Somewhere in the back of my head tells me you're not overly fussed about Internationals? You've got to love a world cup though? Might get a sleeve of the new tartan strip with my first prize. Btw, Germany to win and Neymar to finish top scorer - got it at 105/1 people, some really good doubles going about like this. Well worth a tenner.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Yeah I'm playing it but obviously none of the Eds can win it. I'm not a fan of international football at all but I'll watch it as it's the actual tournament. The last decent WC was Italia'90 and international football has got progressively worse since Diana Ross missed the penalty kick in the opening ceremony of USA'94 but the goal still 'exploded'.}

Fairplay then bud. Can't quite remember Italia 90 to a real extent mind old fella ;) but even I recognise that the finals do seem to get worse. S.A was just dire. I think this really could be a good'n though, seems fairly open to me., not sure why I always had it in my mind that it was Latoya Jackson : great moment though. Much more entertaining than J-Lo to some kids on a trampoline.

Ed, what's the chances of a World Cup page to keep it seperate from Celtic chat, or are you cool with it being mixed in together?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - We've got a dedicated World Cup page on the go HB. You'll find it by clicking here. We're aiming to keep as much of the World Cup stuff on there to keep the club pages as normal as possible. No doubt there will be the usual deluge of MOTD fever when someone scores a goal and every supporter wants them signed for their team, it will save us Eds writing the same info on players on a load of different pages if it is all kept on the one page and it will also get people from different clubs talking.
I have asked the Geek Squad if they can sort it that any WC posts on here can be sent to the WC page.}

Good man, cheers buddy!

It's about time PL & RD settle on Ronnie's no.2 - then get down to the important business of getting ready for CL qualifiers and short listing fresh talent.

Is Peter Lawwell not on holidays .

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye, he went away once Deila was officially signed.

Not Celtic related, but I see UEFA / Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) Financial Fair Play regulations have been thrown further into disrepute.

Man City break the FFP rules, pay UEFA a financial penalty of £49m (£32m later being suspended) which is a drop in the ocean to a Sheikh and told they'll have a squad reduction for next years Champions League.

FIFPro have stepped in and said you can't harm a player under contract for the clubs actions, so they've reduced their quota of homegrown players from 8 to 5.

Basically meaning Man City will be 3 players short for next seasons campaign, but it'll be 3 U21 players who came through the youth ranks and were unlikely to feature anyway.

What's the point in that? Do UEFA really think this is going to put them off spending any more money, when they basically get away with it?!

Agree Totally HB what's the point of giving a fine to a super rich club for breaking ffp rules Uefa are a farce nothing to do with fair competition just about the £££

Agree0 Disagree0

These rules just seem to protect the richer clubs even more if you look at it. Particularly when a financial penalty, as you say, has no real effect anyway. Or the loss of reserve players. Is there even anything to stop say, Etihad Airways increasing their sponsorship of City by tenfold?

Agree0 Disagree0

Football's version of conservatism, where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer!
