A watched the Man city game other night and going forward they where phenomenal, a also noticed they played a 4-2-3-1 formation, do yous think we have the players for that set up and if so what eould formation be.

Brendan previously constantly played a 4-2-3-1 and our fans criticised that formation at times, in his 1st spell at Celtic.

I don’t see that formation changing our fortunes this season, with the players we have available.

Man City won the Treble playing mostly a 3-5-2 formation and Bayer Leverkusen could stop 11 in a row in Germany, playing a 3-5-2.

I think a 3-5-2 is still our best option with the players we have available.
Celtic are overloaded with Centre Backs which could also include Johnston and Iwata if needed.

Celtic also have 4 strikers which includes Maeda if needed.
Palma could also give us an extra option as a number 10.

If our wingers continue to be inconsistent, it will cost us the title in our current setup.
At some point, Brendan should take them out of the equation if they continue to disappoint.

But Brendan won’t play a 3-5-2 because it doesn’t suit him but it should be what’s best for the players he has available, to give us a better chance of winning this title.

We need a game changer to win this title because Celtic are currently limping in and out of our league games.
A 4-2-3-1 won’t change anything but I’m sure a 3-5-2 formation would.

There’s plenty of options Troy.

Johnston plays in a back 3 for Canada but I would play Welsh there and play Johnston as a right wing back.

Taylor played left wing back for a few months under Lennon, during our 9 in a row season.

Although the following year Taylor, Bolingoli and Laxalt struggled as left wing backs.
On loan Kenny also struggled on the right side.
But nobody played well that season.

It might suit Maeda playing up front in a partnership.
Kyogo and Maeda done well at Livingston earlier this season in a partnership, when we went down to 10 men.

I just think Brendan has more options now that he has CCV available again at the back and Idah up front.
Idah is really good at laying the ball off and little knock ons.
That would be ideal for Kyogo in a forward partnership.

Playing Kyogo as a 10 doesn’t work because for one Kyogo can’t play that position and he’s not close enough to Idah to make an impact.

I'm with you a 3 5 2 we are ripe for that. Would blow my socks off if BR actually used it.

I completely agree. Although I would play Johnstone at RCB, it would allow us to have a more attacking threat on the RW. I Think Johnstone would thrive in that position. Is there any chance BR changes formation?
