Ed007.
Heard fae a guy that comes into my that Celtics problem isn't transfer fees but the fact that we will be spending around 60 million in wages by the end of this season.
Seems the board think that is the limit of wage we can spend
So it's got to be a player out for a player to come in
You heard anything like that?

{Ed007's Note - I think the board are bang out of order on to think there's a limit to wages we can spend - they should KNOW that for definite. And if what you say is correct I totally agree with them, our last accounts showed a wage bill of £52 million (I don't see where the next £8 million could be going) which people forget when they talk about the board not spending money - the mistakes are where it's been spent and that is down to Rodgers and Lee Congerton.
There isn't a bottomless pit of money to throw to fix recruitment mistakes like Compper, Benyu, Hayes, Gamboa etc etc
Brendan Rodgers has been here for 2 years - 4 transfer windows - and yet the team that started against Hamilton only had one Rodgers signing in it, Dembele.}

Totally agree Ed.

{Ed007's Note - Are we getting value for money when you consider our wage bill and if not whose fault is that? It's certainly not the board's imo.}

Compper has been very unfortunate with injuries but I can understand the reasoning behind having an experienced CB come in. Of the other 3 you mentioned Ed, Gamboa has never really had any consistency anywhere he's played, Benyu looks incredibly average and Hayes looks like an Aberdeen player in a Celtic shirt. People write up big lists of guys to move out with these guys on them and think it's easy to just get rid.

{Ed007's Note - Compper's injury history was there for all to see, Kev and the worst thing about it is that he was Rodgers and Congerton's choice. Can Celtic afford to be sitting next summer in the same situation with our recruitment department failing so spectacularly? If I was Peter Lawwell I would be bringing in someone to look at our scouting and recruitment policy because since Rodgers came in there's been more misses than hits.
It's not unusual for clubs to bring in outsiders to look at stuff and provide methods of improvement, Andre Villa Boas was sacked from Chelsea because Abramovich brought in a group of 'experts' that found AVB's training methods and drills etc were way behind the standard required.
I'd bring in someone just to watch how things work during the January window and put their plans in place for next summer.}

Hi ed am I not right in saying dembele is a RD signing as he was on Celtics radar befor BR came in?

{Ed007's Note - Well it would technically be a John Park signing, Bobo.}

Great points here. Rodgers has been backed, previously, . he's just wasted it on quantity over quality. The opposite of what he said he was after basically. Would I honestly trust him with a cheque book for 20m? Not too sure. Did Liverpool not employ a panel due to the money he wasted there. As for Congerton, I expressed my doubts over his time at Sunderland. Yet to be convinced, he has time though.

{Ed007's Note - I think the Transfer Committee was already in place at Liverpool but I'm not 100% sure on that.}

I would assume they do know for certain ed
That was just way I typed it.
There have been a few new contracts and couple signing along with general pay increases that will take wages up I suppose
Maybe not as much as 8 million though.

{Ed007's Note - Since January we've lost notably Sviatchenko, Ciftci, Armstrong, Roberts and even Henderson from the wage bill, that should cover Bain, Edouard, Arzani and Izaguirre's wages and probably the pay rises Rogic and KT got last season too. I really don't see there being a significant rise in wages as I expect there will be a few more exits before the window closes.}

Surely Congleton should get the boot after this window and get someone better in. If the signings are still poor then the blame lays at BR feet. If we are looking to improve continuously then the recruitment is one where we need to improve on.

{Ed007's Note - I also have serious doubts about Congerton. I gave him the benefit of the doubt because Sunderland were a total basketcase and Ellis Short cut the entire club's funding to the bare bones but he's not exactly shining and let's be honest John Park was doing a better job in finding players.}

There's a story Brendan chose commper instead of schar.

{Ed007's Note - I've heard a few folk saying that but I don't know if it's true or not. Shocking if it is right enough.}

When everything in the garden isn't rosy, there are always plenty of negative posts, some even half true.
