Going to get in early with team for Thursday. I would play 10 of 11 that played last week except Comons for Griffiths, my reasoning being that we will need to retain the ball better over there and Commons with his passing ability will do this, Griffiths I would bring on in second half when Inter tire a little to use his pace to both give us an out ball and a chance of attacking them. Mathews and Izzy must be more disciplined and not both charge upfield at same time, Brown will need to sit deeper also to cover when either full back does come forward. Reason I chose Guidetti over Griffiths is that he can hold ball up and is a threat in the air.

Griffiths did quite well at hustling their back two and being a bit of a nuisance, don't know if Commons could do that for much of the game! Glad Mackay-Steven and Armstrong were rested yesterday though, hopefully hopefully they're full of as much energy as last week.

Interesting not starting a striker. I get your reasoning. Would probably be commons making way for Griffiths as he just doesn't have the legs for a full 90. If we can go in at half time level I think our fitness showed against them we could push on in the final half hour or so for a win. Think Matthews showed that bombing on can be beneficial but as you say, either or full back has to tuck in when the other does. We can't afford to give Shaquiri or Guarin the space over there.

1-0 the hoops!

We need to win the game so it's a bit risky going without a recognised striker. I reckon he'll go for Commons just off Guidetti or Griffiths. I wouldn't like to pick who to leave out for Commons right enough but he'd be worth playing for his set piece delivery alone.

4.) 23 Feb 2015
I wouldn't be surprised if he goes with the same team that started last Thursday.
I think if Griffiths was going to be left out of the team on Thursday, he would probably have started yesterday, the same goes for Armstrong and Mackay-steven.
I hope they find a way of protecting Izzy on Thursday, as although I rate him going forward, defensively he gets caught out a bit, and I think Inter will try and target him.

Reading the opening post I'm confused, you said your only change would be Commons for Griffiths, but at the end you said you'd start Guidetti ahead of Griffiths?

I would actually make the 2 changes, Commons for GMS(because a feel as if Commons strength and hold up play can get us up the park and keep us up the park plus will ping a few from 25 yards), and Guidetti for the same outlet to get us up the park plus a think his power and pace could tire the Italian defence out for Griffiths movement later on

Think a may be the only 1 who wouldn't start commons lol we will need legs and pace on the attack and for me commons slows everything down and even though he does carry our best attacking threat his ball retention especially away in europe is pretty poor and could end up costing us, I would have the same midfield as last thursday but start guidetti ahead of griffiths cause even though grifffiths has done great I just think away in the san siro he can't do the 1 man upfront job but I think guidetti could

@Gunniebhoy maybe it would be a shout to throw on Commons after 60 minutes or so if we're chasing a goal. He might cope better against tired legs.

8.) 23 Feb 2015
Same Gunnie, probably should have said. And for the same reasons. Commons for me would be more effective coming on against a tiring side. Start Guidetti and Armstrong. Bring on Commons and Griffiths. Griffiths can stretch them and Commons can find him or find himself in a shooting position. Think it'll be a big game for GMS myself. Seems like the most capable player of stretching them individually. Hoping our dynamic midfield can make a few late runs and the likes of Johansen, Armstrong and GMS can arrive late unmarked if JG can hold it up.

Aye a would keep commons fresh for the last half hour cause if the game is tight and we are still in it I would rather have a fit ready commons on the bench than a tired 1 on the park to come off plus gms and armstrong can go the full 90 if needed I just really hope forrest doesn't start cause he was terrible again yesterday just runs like a headless chicken has no left foot, composure his decision making and final ball is abysmal

10.) 23 Feb 2015
If we were lucky to pinch 1 a would like Wakaso on for the last 30 mins, he covered so much ground in that African cup, can tackle and defensively midfield wise was great

Good if we are looking to "batten down the hatches" IMO

For the first time in decades the Celtic Manager has many different options especially further up the pitch . I think we have to rely on Deila make the right selection and use his replacements well.

12.) 23 Feb 2015
Griffiths needs to start as we need to have some threat up front to make their defenders think about the space behind them. I am afraid Guidetti is too slow for this game he struggled to outpace Martin canning on Sunday. I can't see why we shouldn't start with the same team as last week, I like commons but away from home in Europe he can struggle and often doesn't hold the ball up for us. Anyway I think we have a chance as long as we keep things tight early on
