Folks what about the Griffiths racial/singing incident? Did it just get "shelved"?

Was it not pending due to police involvement?

Surely they incompetent eejets @ they SFA are not going to carry it over to next season?

1.) 06 Jul 2014
They will wait until they see where it will hurt celtic most, then impose the punishment.

sorry guys, I'm not cynical but Jorge Cadete still rubs raw!!

2.) 06 Jul 2014
Surely if the police charge griffiths they would have to charge everyone who was singing with him.just a thought.killy.

3.) 06 Jul 2014
Ballybhoy the Cadette incident is irrelevant

4.) 06 Jul 2014
It appears to have only been some of our gutter press who have never missed an opportunity to fault Celtic and their players and a few over pompous political correct Celtic fans that have their concerns . Lunney has left his post as Celtic / Lennon punisher and Cambell Oglivie is trying to get Gordan Smith to replace him . In the mean time the police haven't had time to view the video and so the charges will hang over Griffiths until they find an appropiate time next year or year after

{Ed007's Note - It's the people who think that once someone pulls on a CFC jersey they can do no wrong who are making excuses for Griffiths behaviour, if it had been sang about a CFC or Irish player it would be a different matter, usual double standards from a lot of CFC supporters. Racism is racism and it is wrong in all shapes and forms, would you see a player singing The Famine Song as a bit of banter?
Remember the Rudi Skacel stuff has already been found to be a 'racially aggravated breach of the peace' by the courts, so IF Griffiths sang it he has committed a crime.
And can I remind you that CFC fined Griffiths over the incident, if that was unfair or he wasn't guilty why did he not get the PFA involved to plead his case over the fine? Or you accusing the Club of being 'pompous political correct' too? If anything the club bottled it and backtracked on the stance Neil Lennon publicly stated as:

'Any form of racist behaviour against colour, religion, background will be an instant sackable offence'.

I'm guessing you thought Donald Findlay done nothing wrong as well with his karaoke turn or is it only CFC employees who should be allowed to do/sing what they want?}

Thanks to all for input

Griffiths case must be passed to the PF or marked no case to answer by now! Because Celtic would have a case for it being thrown out in relation to "being time barred" It is very hard to any of your input Ed but I just wonder mate that Given this should be an L & B police matter the FK up that was made with the NL Hearts supporter who invaded the pitch and got "not proven" it made an entire mockery of our legal system and therefore this could be a headache they just don't need mate?

As for Griffiths I marked him top scorer for next season but I noticed at our title celebrations he was ott singing our songs someone should get a grip of him and tell him to give the "karaoke up all together" and let his FEET sing!! as ever atb JB7

And maybe JUST maybe KILLY has the best answer of the lot!

If Paul McBride were still here and it went to court first thing he would be saying "what efforts have the court to bring the other 100 singing in the video" and if it is he haw then that in its own entity is discrimination and then Ed they have a BIGGER headache mate! Great thread Killy! atb JB7

{Ed007's Note - So it's OK because other people were doing it as well? That excuse didn't work here:

No Not at all Ed I concur with your train of thought it is all shapes in form/format intolerable in modern day times

However, the point I should have maybe clearly is following on from Killy the authorities will HAVE to be seen to be pursuing as MANY as possible out of that PUB setting/session because to pursue Griffiths alone in it's own entity is a personal persecution and as a said mate "discriminating in its own entity" hope a cleared that up atb JB7

{Ed007's Note - Fair points Jamie but we both know how the police work, they need everything handed to them on a plate, and Griffiths was. The guy in the link I posted could have used the same excuse, there were others clearly singing it as the article says.
My main concern is that a CFC player a) thought it was acceptable at all b) is stupid enough not to think it would end up with the press and our opposition having a field day. Stupidness isn't an excuse either IMO, especially when others (Riordan) have publicly been in trouble over it in the past and c) it was the second time since Griffiths joined he had been splashed over the front pages for the wrong reasons (the alleged assault that was dropped on a technicality).
From what we all know of Deila he doesn't seem the type to sweep indiscretions under the carpet, players like Griffiths, Watt with his ego and Forrest with his banger showing antics will need to shape up quickly or their career at CFC could be over pretty damn quickly.
That was one of NL's major faults, he felt he had to be one of the Bhoys rather than keep an air of authority around himself, it's the assistant manager's job to be 'in' with the players, that's one of the reasons I don't think Collins was the right choice.
Collins' has always been a bit of the quiet thoughtful type of guy, he doesn't drink either and I wonder if players will be comfortable to let their hair down around him and open up to him about personal problems etc.
Man management is one of the most important qualities an assistant manager should have, he is the buffer between the players and the manager, and Collins has never shown it.
Mjallby was a perfect example, he had authority and the players respected him as a player and as a man, he knew that players need down time to relax and have a laugh and he knew where to draw the line. Collins idea of a good day/night out will be running a marathon then hitting the gym till you puke!
Sorry about that Jamie, I went off on a tangent and started ranting ;)

Ed, am in agreement with nearly everything you are saying if you look back Griffiths is stupid to be still singing b) a HOPE Delia is as strong as being reported and a fear for Griffiths Stokes and Derk c) a never wanted Collins either mate a think Henderson and McGregor SHOULD benefit and was in cohesion with you regarding Stubbs why have a manager and an Asst. who played similar positions baffles me? Someone in your Coaching staff should have the ability IMO to have played more than ONE position ie a Mjallby/Stubbs/Sutton to see the game from differing angles! But Killy got me thinking and a think they have all the evidence they need LG was not the culprit he only joined in stupidly doing so but if some eedjet throws something from the crowd they have to get HIM and if it spills on to the streets they put out to recognise ALL involved! My simple suggestion is they MUST be seen to do the same here as it would hold no real weight in court! If he does it again he must be shown the door! on a separate note but same thread was fat sally not seen signing "penny arcade" after getting beat with Dundee Utd. within Ibrox after party? does any one know atb JB7

{Ed007's Note - The video shows Griffiths was the one who started the chanting. I don't know about The Slug singing Penny Arcade but it wouldn't surprise me, we all know the connotations and reasons people of his ilk sing it.}

Your right the guy said "Sparky give us a song "and LG started it mate , And another train of thought Ed is if LG is found GUILTY Celtic might STILL need to sack/fire him!

We both know it will be someone like Gordon Jackson QC or Derek Ogg QC or NL lawyer that will defend him Ed and we see it all the time If you or I were caught sppeding or on the phone even breathalysed we are bang to rights for it mate! But you get one of these Lawyers/Briefs and suddenly the machine is not calibrated correctly , did they get read there rights , was it corroborated correctly and suddenly it is thrown out! I would suggest that all LG's representation has to do is pose the question "what efforts have been made to bring the others involved to bear"? and oddly enough there may yet again be no case to answer his last case was thrown out because the witnesses could not be Locate/traced to the address given at the time and his lawyer succeeded in it being view as an "absconded"

{Ed007's Note - I'm not a lawyer, but if you're caught doing something on video you don't really have a leg to stand on in my eyes. I suppose they could drum up a charge that he incited racial hatred by starting the song, then it wouldn't matter who else done what. Until it reaches court, if it does, it's pure conjecture but if the police want to do him over about it they will.
The whole point is it is totally unacceptable behaviour from a CFC player. There's no excuse for it.}

10.) 06 Jul 2014
Forgive me if I am wrong, but I was sure Griffith was fined by Celtic for the chant Hearts are going down which I don't think is racist . It was after that that the responsible newspapers, which took a week, to report, reported the Skacel matter . The situation as I see it is that it's not clear whether Griffith took part in this singing . I know the video shows him sitting down . The timing of his sitting down is up for debate . I showed the video to my barrister daughter, who said it wasn't clear but the police would be able to slow video down, do things with the volume which would make it clearer for them . Your remarks about Donald Findlay and attitude to Celtic fans and players is beyond contempt . I despise racism and racist as much as you or anyone else Ed . And don't need any lessions . I have seen many examples of police acting quickly with Celtic supporters re singing etc . But they seem to be more tardy with the Govan mob . I don't think they would sit on the Griffiths case if he had anything to answer . I suppose you will fault me for these views .

{Ed007's Note - What's the difference between Donald Findlay singing at a private party and Leigh Griffiths singing in a pub? Ask your 'barrister' daughter that one, she's obviously the brains of the family.}

11.) 06 Jul 2014
See at end of the day, no player/staff should have any place in football for this sort of behaviour. He should never of been signed, but lawell obviously sanctioned signing cause it was cheap option.

12.) 06 Jul 2014
Ed in my earlier post I wasn't, defending Leigh griffiths, if found guilty he should be punished the same as anyone else who commits racist remarks, all I wanted to know why his colleagues are not being pursued for their part in the sing song (they may well be who knows).killy.

{Ed007's Note - It's a good point, Killy, but I just don't see how that could be used in his defence IF it ever gets to court. Just because others were doing it as well doesn't seem to hold much sway, look at the link I posted, the guys lawyer said:

'It's clear he was not the only person singing this song at this football match, and it is a well known football song. The match was televised and in the course of the first half it sounds like the whole of the home support are singing 'Rudi Skacel go home'. There was no harm intended from the accused, and he regarded it as banter.'

So his lawyer is saying there were others singing it as well and it made no difference.

The judge even said:

'In view of what I've heard I'm not proposing to introduce a football banning order for this offence. You may have been somewhat naive to join in this song'.

So the guy only joined in singing it and was still fined £200. His lawyer never even pushed for a dismissal under a technicality (or what ever you would call it) on the fact the song was 'not quite correctly quoted' by the Crown.
Perhaps he should have got Yourman's daughter as his brief! The people trying to justify Griffiths behaviour are the same people who were up in arms about The Famine Song, they are the stalwarts of the CFC support who spend their days looking to be offended by anything against the club or it's support but adopt double standards when it suits.
During the season you'll usually find them moaning and whining on social media about the Green Brigade or songs the opposition fans are singing. I've got a word for them, wallopers!}

13.) 06 Jul 2014
Mr . ED I don't see any difference between Donald Findlay singing a sectarian or racist song than Leigh Griffiths Pope Francis or anyone else . I am disappointed that you failed to note that in my earlier reply . I suppose you are too busy thinking you have a far better knowledge than everyone else .
Stupid me hasn't been convinced of what exactly Griffiths sang wrong and I think for one it appears the police think the same . I am of course jealous of your wonderful knowledge on racism and how a person can be guilty of racism .

{Ed007's Note - You're not the only person jealous of me, don't worry about it, I'm used to dealing with it now.}

14.) 06 Jul 2014
My daughter has no interest or no qualifications for been involved in a case in Scotland . Thanks Ed for your amateurish way of trying to taut for business for her . Your cynicism knows no bounds .

{Ed007's Note - If she's not qualified then who actually gives a $hit what she says, I might as well as my dog. I am not a cynic btw, I'm actually a very proud sociopathic misanthropist. Think Patrick Bateman with a CFC tie and you're on the right track, which will be a first for you.}

Ed a guess to wind it up mate "we are all singing from the same hymn sheet here"(he he) racism has no place @ CFC! ATB JB7
