Listened back to podcast this morning.

Agreed if we can only make one signing a striker is the priority particularly with the Asian cup we can get to the end of the season with our left back and goalkeeper.

In answer to your question 100% yes I said on the last podcast I'd take Shankland every day of the week. I agree with Gerry we should be aiming higher ultimately but he'd hit the ground running and score goals as you said.

He can even bring his Bailieston True Blues No. 2 LOL drum.

{Ed007's Note - That's the main reason I mentioned Shankland, JFP. We can't be signing a striker in January that is going to need to settle in to a new country & club etc Shankland wouldn't even need to move house if he signed for us.}

How’s Yoda?

{Ed007's Note - He's fine now thanks, JFP. Wednesday/Thursday he took 6 seizures so as soon as it happened on Friday morning we phoned the vet and we had to take him in. They kept him in for a few hours and gave us a 3 week course of steroid/anti-inflammatory tablets and he's been fine ever since, as if there was nothing wrong.
Seemingly it's just down to his age and it might happen again or it might not.}

Aye E007, we would need to buy a striker who has experience playing some where close to or in Scotland, but we need him to have a bit of ability as well.
It’s going to be a difficult decision as Kyogo will surely hit a scoring streak soon, Oh Is showing improved form and working hard for team . Our new striker will leave us 3 players for one position and I always think that strikers play better when full of confidence, it can’t be easy to be either 3rd in ranking or sharing 2nd place . Didn’t Sevco sign a number of strikers in the summer, maybe Clement would loan out one of them to us ??.

{Ed007's Note - But we could possibly be losing both Kyogo & Oh for the Asia Cup in January, that's why we need someone that can come in and hit the ground running, there's no time for them to settle in and get used to the Scottish game etc.}

Afternoon All

Shankland is a striker we should definitely sign.

BR would definitely make him even better overall.

As I've previously posted I would really grudge giving wee Sevco any money whatsoever.

But sometimes needs must.

Im not sure shankland would sign in January because he will want a place in euro squad so needs to be playing and we can't guarantee him game time.

Favours another team from glasgow.

{Ed007's Note - What like Callum McGregor did or like Greg Taylor did? What about players like Davie Provan, Kenny Dalglish, Danny McGrain, Paul Lambert, Murdo McLeod, Simon Donnelly & Scott Brown or any of the other numerous Celtic players that supported the original Rangers when they were young?}

Brian

I’m no lover of the diet huN$ either but he’d score goals and hit the ground running and the money would be staying in the SPL.

Shankland only turned 28 in August and we could still get 2 or 3 really good years out of him.

I seen him in an Italian restaurant in Baillieston just before we beat them in the Scottish Cup this year.
He had a wee one year old on his lap and he came across as a nice family man.

I was in another Italian restaurant in Duke Street last Thursday and the only man who has played for Celtic, Rangers and Sevco was in with his family.
He shockingly allowed another customer to pay for his bill. ?‍♂️.

The forwards with Scottish league experience . choices are not the best but out of the 4 who’s everyone’s main choice van veen ex well, shankland, Kevin Nisbit or Aberdeens Miovski personally I would go with miovski then van veen as they would offer something totally different to what we have.

{Ed007's Note - A few of the lads on the live chat for the podcast said they would prefer Miovski and that's a good shout to be fair. Van Veen's 32 now and he does fall into the category of what I think is an acceptable 3rd choice striker, either youngster (18/19) that is still learning or an older type that is coming towards the end of their career and might fancy a couple of seasons with the chance to win trophies, European football etc.
Nisbet I have never been convinced by, he was decent when he was young but I don't think he kicked on from that.}

On Shankland, my only worry is that he wouldn't actually want to leave Hearts where he's 100% the main man knowing he'll be behind Kyogo. I'm sure he believes he could make the jersey his own but it's been shown in the past that Kyogo will likely always get the nod.
