Aberdeen beat Real Madrid to win the Cup Winners Cup 40 years ago today.
A brilliant achievement by the Dons.

Incredibly that's the last time Real Madrid lost in a European Final.
Real Madrid have won 10 consecutive European Finals in the last 40 years.

Real Madrid almost done a clean sweep including International Finals in the last 40 years.
Real Madrid have won 7 out of 8 International Finals ( World Club Finals ) in the last 40 years.
The only exception was when Real Madrid lost 2-1 to Boca Juniors in the year 2000.

My sister made her confirmation that night 40 years ago but we made it home for the Extra Time.
Our household all cheered when John Hewitt headed in the winning goal.
