Celtic sign Craig Gordon on two year deal. Very dissapointed Celtic fan

He won't be pulling on the Celtic jersey, he'll be keeping Derk n James company in the Physio room.

The new manager should have made a much more impressive initial signing to get the supporters buzzing. This is typical Celtic.

Fair comment JungleJim. But is it the manager, or his employers? RD was in no position to wrestle with the board when signing on. Keane, Moyes, they weren't so impressed with what the board had to offer with budgets etc.

I'm not sure it really matters what his first signing was. This deal represents a no lose situation for us. He's supposedly on a pay as you play deal. So either he regains his previous form and is a sensation for us or he doesn't and it's at minimal outlay to the club. Can't really understand the negativity. Stevie woods has worked wonders to turn Forster into the keeper he is so I firmly trust his judgement.

{Ed007's Note - There is no way that Gordon has signed a two year deal with a 12 month option on a pay as you play deal if he's fit enough to play, why would anyone sign a contract that doesn't guarantee them any income for the next 2 possibly 3 years?
He could play every game next season then spend the following 2 years as our No.2 without getting a dime for sitting on the bench.
Even Pedro couldn't pull a deal like that off.}

He has been virtually unemployed for the past 2 years earning about £50 an appearance on sportscene so he must have squirrelled away a wee bit of his previous wages. I think a pay as you play with Celtic is better than what he has been earning. A pay as you play will give him a minimal basic wage which will be supplemented by playing games, win bonuses etc.

{Ed007's Note - If he's getting a minimal basic wage it's not a pay as you play deal is it? The term 'pay as you play' is self explanatory, you play and you get paid, if you don't play you don't get paid. What you've described is a performance related pay deal, which most players have anyway.}
