I have seen some speculation surrounding Lenny and the soon to be vacant position at Everton. Personally I don't think he will leave however of he did I think it would be a travesty. We have a very good young ambitious manager who happens to support our club and I think it would be suicidal to allow him to leave. We have progressed every season under Neil and long may it continue

Junglebhoy33

1.) In all fairness, I think he is far too loyal to certain players ie mulgrew gets played anywhere to accomodate his place in the team, and winning the league on the lowest points tally is not progression. Love the guy but feel he needs to sort out the slacking of the team and focus on winning every match as has always been required for a manager of Celtic

2.) I don't want Lenny to go because I think he has still got a lot to learn but I think the lure of the premiership might just be too much, no matter what he has said in the past.

3.) I agree that Lennie has a lot to learn, but is Celtic the club he should be learning from, Celtic surely need a manager who knows the job, so that they could move forward, I think that Lennie has taken the club as far as he can, We need a more experienced manager, He has done a good job, I feel next season will see how well he has done,

4.) Look how well de did in Champs League.

And Barcelona!

Historical.

5.) Hope he stays he has been brilliant for Celtic.
Also EPL was a poisoned chalice for Wally.
Grass is not always greener!

6.) Mr Lennon could be our gaffa for the next 20 years like they did way back when. GBNL

I think we can all see how absurd the 3 match ban for "offensive behaviour" handed out from the SFA to Lenny is. I also love the clubs statement regarding how busy Hampden will be every Monday. I hope celtic make a point of reporting every manager up and down the country for any swearing in the coming match days. This would seem to be the only fair thing for the SFA to then ban these individuals too

Junglebhoy33

1.) I don't think any other manager wanted Lennie to get pulled up about it. Even Jim Goodwin said it was nothing and would speak on his behalf if needed. It was the guy in the stand that reported it.

2.) Lets go the whole hog and have the 4th official have a SWEAR BOX on the touchline with him.

3.) I teach at University, and its acceptable to swear from the podium in the presence of 300 undergrads. This is hypocrisy at its most British and at its most astounding level. Yes. Neil Lennon uses a contemporary language in private. No, he doesn't do so on telly. God knows the refs use the same kind of language and besides:

Just because you say 'sir' doesn't mean you're being polite, and just because you say '****' doesn't mean you're being impolite.

Thatcher's Britain. Keep talking the way it is.

4.) What I find disgusting is that NL is ridiculously found guilty yet a few weeks back we had Butcher smash a dug out at Dens (very small reporting in all papers), this followed a set to with Adams just prior (again no major reporting carried in tabloids). Victimised, you bet, and another attempt to deflect reporting from more serious concerns elsewhere. When is our club and chairman going to start being vocal and stand up for us. We are No 1 and without us there is no Scottish football, that is fact. Stevo Dundee

5.) I wonder if the SFA realise what they have done by opening up this can of worms? If this is not applied uniformly then there are all sorts of issues.

Iain

6.) 19 Apr 2013 08:59:10
This is the biggest joke ever (SFA) fannies man!. Need tae watch wit ah say incase ah get ah 3 week ban fae using ma fone! That's how stupit it is and makes scottish football even more of a joke. Ne wiys GLASGOW CELTIC CHAMPIONS!

7.) 19 Apr 2013 11:06:40
Maybe he should have done a Terry Butcher and get away scott free.

gordybhoy

8.) Whether its right or not we can debate till we are blue in the teeth. if you swear on the tele or radio you get fined. although a sporting event this is the same. get the microphones moved or be a bit more savvy about what you say on the touchline.

9.) What about those times when the mikes don't pick anything up but you can clearly lip read what is said?

Will that be treated in the same manner?

10.) Whats the point in reporting anyone the sfa will not give out bans even if they are found guilty and point out that lennon wasnt given a ban for this althouh he was found guilty he's only banned cause the guilty verdict triggerd his suspended ban. mark

11.) Lenny is well use to this s""t, Scotland is the laughing stock of the world when it comes to football sporting body's, only in a country like Scotland can the bios ness be so blatant I think they think we are as stupid as those mugs across the city, they have made a rod for ther own back and Lenny should accept this punishment as this will help the crowd attendance to rise in the grounds around Scotland as half the management staff and players will be in the stand what a joke they are but it does not shock me at all it's Scotland and its always been the same, but as the saying goes and has been proved over the last couple of years in Scotland the truth will come out sooner or later and it will be funny to see these people run for the hills when it does, jodrok

12.) For me it is simple. defy them and take your place in the dug out. police can't get involved. its a footballing matter.

Hey guys, I am correct in saying that the summer transfer window doesn't open for us until the 1st of July? An if this is the case when is the date of the first qualifiers? Just thinking if this will work for or against us as although it won't give us much time to get players in, maybe not enough time for wanyama/ hooper to have exited so they could take part ( if the intended buyers aren't in the CL themselves)

I've seen a lot of talk recently about what we will do when wanyama leaves, personally I do not think its plausible to look for a direct replacement as I think we have a player that can shine in his absence. Personally I think Kayal will thrive when he gets a consistent run of games, lately his performances have improved greatly and I think next season will cement the position for his own.

Junglebhoy33

1.) Need to disagree with you junglebhoy33, I think kayal looks a shadow of the player we seen in his first year at the club, anytime I've seen him over the last few months I think he's been below par, wanyamas shoes/boots will be big ones to fill, in my opinion far to big for kayal, personally I would try and move him on. Ian L

2.) I agree, kayal will get a lot more time and be good but he also gets hurt and can get the dumb card in games but I expect him to up his game. Saying that we will no doubt try and find a gem in mid and bring them along slowly like was the plan with wanyama, but he was too good to hold back.
Think we are going to try and make our mid with top talent like barca does, which is the strongest part of our club and where clubs would want our mid. We are going to try and keep pumping our mid with some great young talent so that if one is sold the replacement is already in place

3.) I agree with Ian. I don't think Kayal could ever fill Wanyama'a boots. I hope I am wrong because I doubt the Board will splash on a player of Wanyama's calibre.
Ontario Bhoy

4.) I agree he's not the same player he was and Lennon doesn't seem to trust him in the big games now! he's not commanding enough for me he runs about like a headless chicken at times! Wanyama is a rare breed we found a real gem there he has all the attributes to be a world class player! My only hope is we hold out for big money for him if Liverpool paid 15 million for Allan from Swansea he is not even close to the Player Wanyama is! And Could be!

gazcfc21

5.) I do like Kayal but this season, it seems like he's been trying too hard. Too much pointless running around and shouting a the ref. He almost reminds me of the first few years of Scott Brown.
He is a talented player who needs some coaching, needs to calm down, not try to do too much and he really needs to move into a more defensive midfield role, which is his natural position. We've all seen his attempts on goal and they are all awful.
JohnK.

6.) FergieBhoy

I too disagree with the original post. Although I used to love Kayal as a player, I was very disappointed (although not surprised) that when he played a few good games he instructed a 'super agent' to find him a club down south, preferably Man United. Now, having seen Kayal's performances this year, I agree with the poster that says we should move him on. We need new players that will give us a bit of energy and enthusiasm and Kayal is not the man to do this. Like a lot of our current players, he just does not look interested. AND PLEASE LENNY NO N'GUEMO!!

7.) Ledley should be the main man in our midfield and I think he will be. Partnered with Brown for the next year and then hopefully one of the youngers can come in next to him eventually. Reckon next season we could well see the whole team working around Ledley if we hold onto him. Daviebhoy77

8.) Kayal is a headless chicken and far too injury prone, and he can't last 90 minutes, he won't fill Wanyama's boots.

9.) Kayal believes all the hype that's been in the papers about him being a good player. He now has his feet under the table at Celtic park and imo is happy to sit there picking up a decent wage, probably the best he's ever had. Good games are a distant memory from him and I think if anything over £2m came in we should take it.

10.) I think Kayal is very skill-full and looked a great prospect in his first season - and was touted by bigger clubs apparently?
But he was never the same after his first long injury and like Brown misses a lot of games a season. He is not the bravest and
he is always the first to get hooked.
Lastly; unlike Wanyama, he lacks goals.

JJ

11.) The price tag set for Wanyama should certainly assure Neil Lennon that he can go out and buy a replacement and try to improve the team with a profit for the board too. Asier Illarramendi, Jordy Clasie, Youssuf Mulumbu, Idrissa Gueye, Benjamin Stanbouli, Joshua Guilavogui, Ignacio Camacho, Victor Perez and Vincent Pajot are who I would like to replace Wanyama. No idea how much any of them would cost.

12.) @Daviebhoy77 what would happen to brown when the youngster comes in to play with ledley next year?

To last post, too much computer games for you wee man,. ,. kbarry

13.) @kevb: I would love for Brown to keep going but we may find this injury will cut him short. Hopefully not as Brown sitting and Ledley in CAM would be tidy. We always hear about Joe L as the unsung hero and the great utility man. While that's true, the CAM role that he played at Cardiff is where he really shines and we've not really given him that gig yet. Brown cutting things up and Ledley supporting the front men is the way forward. Daviebhoy77

14.) Kbarry,

i don't play computer games that much to be fair, I probably do watch too many football highlight shows though. those players are highly rated youngsters in good leagues who I have been impressed with, and who I think would bee good replacements for wanyama in terms of quality and financial movement, that is all. apologies if they seem to far fetched or nameless to you.

09 Mar 2013 19:01:16
I'm not going to overreact but being that the league is effectively over we should really already be thinking about building for next year. I think our strongest defence is good (Matthews, Wilson, ambrose, izzy) but we need to address beginning to replace the ones we know will be leaving I. e Wanyama and Hooper and giving players such as Watt and Forrest as much game time as possible to help their progression

Junglebhoy33

1.) We can get better in EVERY DEPARTMENT! maybe Matthews! the rest NOT UP TO IT. jimtetim,,. ,,

IMO this is going to be a make or break season for Beram Kayal, if he can stay injury free and regain his form from the first season and a half then I really believe he could replace Big Vic if he leaves. I know it's a big if when looking at his injury history but I've always had faith in Kayal

Junglebhoy33

1.) Kayal has the ability, just hope this will be his year . TTTS

2.) Kayals confidence is shot to heck. The thug McKluggoch did a proper job on him. I hope he gets a run in the team and shows what he has. He is a good player and you don't lose it overnight. I cannot help but feel there is more going on with this laddie than meets the eye. No evidence just a gut feeling that there is something else upsetting his game that we fans know nothing about. Have seen that Southampton have apparently increase their bid to 12m. Personally between that and 15m I would take as it would be great business for the club

Junglebhoy33

1.) Junglebhoy . there is no hurry, let him play another season in the cl . this is a big guy that is happy where he is .
what we should be doing is offering him a rise and a new contract .
they are talking about £20m for mccarthur and £8m for wee shaun . big vic is better .
we have two years on his contract, let's try to increase that . and hold on to him . then maybe we will get the £25m that lenny quoted . shammy

I'm not sure it really matters what his first signing was. This deal represents a no lose situation for us. He's supposedly on a pay as you play deal. So either he regains his previous form and is a sensation for us or he doesn't and it's at minimal outlay to the club. Can't really understand the negativity. Stevie woods has worked wonders to turn Forster into the keeper he is so I firmly trust his judgement.

Junglebhoy33

{Ed007's Note - There is no way that Gordon has signed a two year deal with a 12 month option on a pay as you play deal if he's fit enough to play, why would anyone sign a contract that doesn't guarantee them any income for the next 2 possibly 3 years?
He could play every game next season then spend the following 2 years as our No.2 without getting a dime for sitting on the bench.
Even Pedro couldn't pull a deal like that off.}

As you said there is no guarantees with anyone. All manager great good or bad have to start somewhere. Managers such as Mourinho, Klopp and AVB have had humble beginnings and gone on to be great managers. He seems to be suited to our style and I don't think this is a lack of ambition. I actually think it's more ambitious to appoint a young manager who has a good track record than EPL cast offs who have all failed and are uninspiring.

Why exactly is that worrying? Bringing in a young manager who apprently plays good attacking football and has worked wonders with a small club. Personally I think it's very refreshing as opposed to giving managers like Keane, Coyle or Housten a look in

You make some interesting points Paul. Totally agree that Clarke is the best option (thought him along with Laudrup were the most attractive options from the start). He is a young manager that did well at West Brom and has a wealth of coaching experience at some of the biggest clubs in Europe. I understand peoples frustrations with the board at times but to suggest they know nothing of the intricacies of football is going too far IMO. Lawell gets a rough ride from a large section of our support and although can sometimes be criticised for not expanding the budget for the right player he is a major asset to our club. He has overseen a hugely successful period in our history and has ran he club amazingly. I would like to see a DoF put in place and just let him get on with running the club personally

I think it speaks volumes about how good a job Lenny has done that CL qualification is now deemed as unsuccessful to our fan base as well as an amazingly consistent league performance. Agreed we were very poor on the cups but in regards to the CL campaign people need to lend some perspective to the situation. We were completing against three teams with significantly better resources than ourselves, not to mention the fact we were in a period of transition having lost three of our best players.
