Hey Ed is there anymore news about the Griffiths deal or is it just speculation?

{Ed007's Note - Griffiths is trying everything he can to force the move, he has told Wolves he wants the move but so far hasn't put in a transfer request.}

1.) 27 Jan 2014
Wolves rejected a big this morning. IMO he's no better than what we have.

ML

2.) 27 Jan 2014
I'm the same I don't want him any where near paradise! No better than what we have! Attitude is stinking! Lennon said he was trying to add quality not numbers

3.) 27 Jan 2014
No better than what we have? who in our strike force is getting anywhere near 20+ goals this season apart from commons who isn't a striker? no 1. Griffiths got it in a stinking hibs team. I'd take him he's worth the risk considering some of the p*sh strikers we have bought last few seasons

4.) 27 Jan 2014
I agree - he's probably a bit different to what we have, but at the same level. We have too many players already, I prefer a squad of around 20, with roughly 15 top quality players, and 5 of your top kids from your youth dept. Then you can tweak that as you go on. Our squad is too big because we have so many average-pretty good players. I would say only Forster/Lustig/Virgil(who still has to improve defensively) and maybe brown could play at the top end of the English Prem/top European club, and that's me being generous! Even the kids we are bringing through are very average, why can we not bring through a Jack Wiltshere/Ross Barclay, or some of the young Spanish/German players who are coming through. Bottom line is the set-up/coaching isn't good enough. You don't have to be Einstein to realize something is far wrong! Paul

5.) 27 Jan 2014
I agree with u GB we'd need to take ah punt to find out and in my opinion I'm sure he would score goals for fun and he's never played in the CL neither did hooper and he was brilliant for us. well worth a shot.

6.) 27 Jan 2014
Very disappointed in this signing! No better than Stokes and his antics in the past show he's trouble! Nowhere near good enough for champions league which is what NL said this window was all about

7.) 27 Jan 2014
Griffiths scored 28 goals in 42 games for a poor Hibs side last season, Stokes scored 23 goals in 43 games also for a poor Hibs side in 2009-10. I see this move as a side step than bettering what we have. I'd rather see us sign Stevie May or Billy McKay before the thumb!

8.) 27 Jan 2014
In reply to GunnieBhoy. It's hard to argue with his goalscoring record, but remember he hasn't played at the highest level.

In his last season at Hibs he scored, 23 goals in 36 games. Stokes scored 21 goals in 37 games. Very similar records. Same level of player IMO.

ML

9.) 27 Jan 2014
If we sign a CF then it should be some one with a different class to what we have! Some one who's strong and can lead the line in Europe but no half of you would settle for a trouble making person! We need quality not a gamble! I'd rather we never spent anything than this clown!

10.) 27 Jan 2014
He will score plenty great record at hibs an a much better ratio than anything we have

11.) 27 Jan 2014
SOS hooper and scott mcdoanld hadn't played at the highest level yet they produced in the champions league. How is anyone going 2 find out if griffiths can hack if he doesn't get the chance? for me I would take him he's proven domestically and worth the risk for the cl that's just my oppinion but respect urs aswel mate

GunnieBhoy

12.) 27 Jan 2014
I think he has more goals in him than any striker - bar Commons (who is not a striker).
The panel after yesterdays game were punting this story on SLY and they obviously had inside info. But this was a move that could have happened last season BEFORE we lost Hooper and in time for the CL games?
Celtic are once again scurrying about at the final days of a 'window' chasing shadows, as one by one the bids fail.
The lack of professionalism and penny pinching when we do bid makes us a joke!

13.) 27 Jan 2014
It's another low key risk if you ask me. Are we keeping money back for the summer. there's no doubt that it's there?!?! I can see more of a clear out on the cards at the summer, keeping the core and continue to build. Our main aim and Lenny's key question is. will this squad as it is get us to the champions league. Tough call until we see Griffiths in action

14.) 27 Jan 2014
Stop talking about last season what's he done this season wae wolves he has played 26 games scored 12 young mcgregor at a worse team in the same league has played 25 scored 11 from midfeild rather we didn't buy anyone than buy a striker who plays the same wae as pukki and stokes we need a penalty box striker not someone who is gony take pot shots from 25 30 yards we already have commons and stokes who do that

15.) 27 Jan 2014
I really don't want him in the hoops! Yes I will admit he will score spl goals but so will pukki as he is settling and blade when played! We need forward who will lead the line no baggage why not May of st Johnstone if we're looking for goals, 20 this season or something! It's just another riordon waiting to happen

16.) 27 Jan 2014
A lot of mixed feelings as I'm reading these posts I for one back all the comments that think we should have a punt on this lad I seen him playing live against Dundee united last season was there with work and he was class out shined Russell and scored a 25-30 yard screamer I know this lad has potential if he was to turn out as good or better than McDonald we have a winner the lad has been capped for Scotland and if he signs for celtic I can see him getting more £1.2 million that's not a gamble we should of bought him before Bangura I for one would welcome this lad and I really hope we do get him this window.

17.) 27 Jan 2014
At only 21 years old, he has two and a half goalscoring seasons under his belt at three different levels with a goal every 1.4 games or something along those lines - 19 goals in 22 starts for Alloa in League One two years ago, 26 goals in 33 starts (+1 sub app) for Accies in the Championship last season, 16 goals in 21 starts (+2 sub apps) for St Johnstone so far in this season's Premiership. Stevie May is the one for me! No sign of a stinking attitude, spoke to folk who worked with him at Hamilton last season and was told he was quite the quiet, feet on the ground / down to earth type!

18.) 27 Jan 2014
This is getting beyond a joke, griffiths? how long does lawell and lennon think that we are going to put up with this nonsense! time for change-lawell and lennon must go

19.) 27 Jan 2014
C'mon get a grip Stevie May and Leigh Griffiths are not, I repeat not the strikers we need to proceed in Europe. Hooper and McDonald are better than them but hardly really did anything in Europe. Yeah Hooper scored a good goal against Moscow and McDonald scored a tap in against Milan but both did nothing in comparison to Larsson ( a proper striker )

So we have spent small money and decent money on strikers and the players have not been given a chance, the simple reality is play them, give them game time if they can't compete in a poor league with poor opposition then sell them on and bring in, if they want to come to Scotland that is, a quality striker, not top quality just quality.

20.) 27 Jan 2014
Think he will be a great signing everyone said the same about macdonald and hooper. He's better than stokes there's a reason stokes misses all European games for a reason, griffiths has got that bit of excitement and pace that stokes lacks And he's a proven goal scorer just needs the chance for the step up! Once he starts banging them in everyone will change their mind, and when he had all the off the field problems he was just a young boy, now he's grown up and matured! Would welcome him even if he does look like a thumb!

21.) 27 Jan 2014
Just showed our true ambition again. Lennon needs his head checked if he thinks this is what we need. Not surprised but still gutted we didn't push the boat out or waited until the summer for a decent striker.

22.) 27 Jan 2014
27 Jan 2014 20:29:18
Did McDonald not score a cracker against Man utd??
S tap in against Milan is that not what you want from a goal scorer, unbelievable

23.) 27 Jan 2014
GunnieBhoy I read your posts on here with great interest. Whilst on one hand I can completely agree with your points, particularly McDonald and Hooper; I would suggest that when they both joined they were both better players than Griffiths and playing in a better Celtic side. It disappoints me Lennon talks of having money to spend and we are chasing Griffiths. I'd happily see him in if we are getting rid of Stokes and Sammy; but not as an addition. In Europe, we need a striker with a bit more physical presence. I would like to see us sign Janko and he has a decent amount of experience.

But GunnieBhoy, I can't completely disagree despite this comment

24.) 27 Jan 2014
Mark Janko 30 year old injury prone has been who has turned us down twice before no thanks. Can't wait till Griffiths is in and banging the goals in god the way yous are going on as though it's the worst signing ever get a grip I don't always agree with who we buy but I always give them the chance not just shoot them down before they even sign c'mon lads a little bit more support as soon as yous realise we don't control the transfers the less chest pain yous will have. One last thing the guy who posted about McDonald and Hooper not doing much in Europe what are you smoking mate can I have some? get a grip the lads were class for us in Europe and domestic

Samcfc1888

25.) 27 Jan 2014
Hate to say but we all know he will bag goals in the spfl it's Europe and we woul rather see other players given a chance ahead of him if he was bought in the summer no one would be bothered but every one knows we need a quality front man with strength to lead the line in Europe not a player who is going to get pushed off the ball with ease

26.) 27 Jan 2014
Griffiths is a no brainer. Cheap as chips and proven top in SPL. He's young and can only get better with exposure and experience.
I don't believe he's our final euro answer. Those possibilities are not available this window.
Griffiths is desperate to play in the hoops. You can't buy that passion. A great place to start from. If you want him proven at highest level he'll cost £8m up. We are not a club who buys players proven at the highest level. Get real.
Agree or disagree once he's in the hoops he's a Bhoy and we must welcome and get behind him.

27.) 27 Jan 2014
@above total nonsense. possibilities ARE available. are you forgetting about transfer kitty pulled in during summer? wanyama and hooper alone?

28.) 28 Jan 2014
Hi all.first post.i would rather give Pukki or Balde a run in the team or even bring back Tony Watt before I would sign Griffiths. Yes, he will trouble other teams and probably score a few goals but he will also cause trouble off the pitch, he was arrested three times in 2013 FFS!. don't need another zoomer at our club, we already have Stokes. the Scottish media will be salivating at the very thought. rant over.lol.

29.) 28 Jan 2014
He will definitely score goals domestically, probably more than stokes has been. we're not in europe now so i'd have been very surprised to see us spend 5 mil on a striker in january, especially since most clubs are reluctant to let their better players leave and demand top money. pukki took his goal brilliantly at the weekend, still have hope for balde too. think stokes' number is up though, he's been poor this season.

30.) 28 Jan 2014
Spot on thaitimtam. griffiths' is a bampot. what happened to good professionals? RE Stokes. he literally stopped trying the week after signing a contract extension. pukki looks good imo. electric pace, good touch, intelligent positioning. half the time I see him in a great goalscoring position to receive the ball and stokes elects to shoot; usually into the side netting. and for all commons goals this season(yes he is showing good domestic form, rubbish in europe), he is selfish on the ball.i think balde and pukki should be getting a sustained run in a 4-4-2 formation.

31.) 28 Jan 2014
Totally agree Edward, Stokes was suspended for the Hibs game so who did NL play? Sammy! WTF! it must have felt like a kick in the teeth for Pukki and Balde. crazy.anyway, back on topic. Griffiths, GTF.

32.) 28 Jan 2014
@ SAMCFC

What am I smoking?, why don't you have a puff at these European Stats then .

Hooper 4 goals in 13 games
McDonald 5 goals in 24 games

Yeah that's an impressive European Record.

Henrik as follows - 56 games with 34 goals now that is a ratio worth talking about.

33.) 28 Jan 2014
@thaitimman mate lennons tactics and signings have always puzzled me. Perfect opportunity to give natural strikers a chance. Lennon is not man for job
