With Oh away perhaps Vata will get a chance to stake his claim to be Kyogo's understudy. Oh hasn't really done anything special and I would rather give Vata the chance to see what he is made of at this level. Depends on his thoughts though but it would make sense to give him a new deal.

And it saves the board from spending any money.

The concern for me would be Vata is as lightweight as Kyogo and offers nothing different in terms of physicality, lacking the ability to bully defenders, which is imo what we need in a striker. If Vata is converted to a striker then plan b is just plan a but plan a harder ?.

In order to compete and win, at domestic level, let alone in Europe, we require a proven striker that offers something different in terms of physicality and playing style to Kyogo.

That man was GG and he was never replaced.

OH hasn't got it and Vata isn't anywhere close to getting it.

Not necessarily a bad thing that Vata like Kyogo is a lightweight as he could come in fresh for the last 20/ 25 mins and continue to try to run defenders into the ground . Kyogo may be lightweight but he is durable and is fit and presents himself fit and capable for nearly every match.

Anybody can see we are crying out for a big physical striker in the shape of Hartson or Sutton. I would love to see us play a 3-5-2 formation, just to mix things up and have a plan B. I could see Kyogo thriving with a big striker up front with him.

With the mindset of the elite referees, I am not sure a Hartson or a Sutton would excel in the SPL now. Every time GG challenged for a high ball it was a free out immediately, everytime a defender took him out as he jumped for a high ball was play on . In Scotland more than most countries, u have to play the referees and we know the past masters at that, it’s not the hair colour that matters it’s the colour of the jersey.
