Scotland game was same old same old last night, if we play like that against Belgium on Tuesday we’ll be lucky not to get pumped, no offence to Clarke but he won’t fare much better than Strachan or McLeish because we just don’t have the quality of player to select from unfortunately.

I go to a lot of youth games (different clubs) and the boys at that level are a joy to watch. Loads of pass and move, making passing options for each other (triangles etc) ball in the deck most of the time. It seems tthat when they get to club level the dinosaurs managing most spl clubs don’t emphasis that in any of their clubs tactics. It’s all punt it up the park crap, run with it. You only had to look at how comfortable Cyprus defenders were passing itabout compared to ours. We have too many dinosaurs in our game up here. I really hope we get more modern thinking managers/ coaches in our game because the football up here is rank rotten.

Oh and forgot to say, that Cypriot keeper could ping a pass no bother.

Drewzy he never the personnel at Kilmarnock either but had them punching above their weight. You don't need a star studded line up just to be well organised and disciplined. Look at at the success N. Ireland have had.

In relation to Scotland we just don’t have enough quality. Pep couldn’t get them to play great football as he, like Clarke has **** all to work with. All honest lads who try hard but their level of technical ability is miles off. We as a country for the last 25 years have produced only a couple of high quality players and are falling behind everybody. Cyprus looked more technically gifted than us. Huffers and puffers. It’s either the coaches or just the plain truth we produce next to nothing in terms of quality.

Tbh I agree with most of what you’re saying magicpole but I do think right now we have a decent enough squad. A front 3 of Fraser, Forrest and Griffiths* is good enough to cause most team problems. I’d have a midfield 3 of Jack, Mcgregor and Christie* or Armstrong. And even try Tierney (freedom to bring ball out) in a back 2 during a friendly see how he got on.
