Newbie :)

Got an in law who gives me some info now and then, well tbh 4things he told me in past, 3 I found out we’re bang on 4th never found out. Anyhow spoke to him at weekend and we had a few rums 👍🏻 So his lips were bit looser this time. Cut along story short.

Board want Bielsa, impressed by way got Leeds playing and managing it on the budget he had.
Behind scenes contact was made with his representatives 3wks ago to see if the job would interest him.

Board are terrified of being left behind by the euro big clubs as big changes in euro football are coming.
Board feel having big name manager will benefit them when changes arise.

Only passing on what been told so be gentle 👍🏻.

1.) 15 May 2019 19:29:09
This would be good Ryan.

Not sure how much bearing our manager would have on a decision like that though?

Right now though Ed is either nursing a semi or nursing a headache.

2.) 15 May 2019 19:32:37
Welcome mate, its a rumours site, we post all and sundry on here.
We are always looking for info so the more the merrier .

3.) 15 May 2019 20:31:09
That would be brilliant if we could get him in, watched Leeds a few times this season and they play some really good football, and I know he's eds number 1 choice as well.

4.) 15 May 2019 21:49:45
Leeds just out of playoffs . so a better chance now
Hail hail.

5.) 15 May 2019 19:46:45
Bond did you just jizz all over the ceiling?

{Ed007's Note - I think it went straight through it!}

6.) 15 May 2019 22:24:31
Im sorry but he doesn't speak english . how the hells he gony learn scottish 😂😂😂.

{Ed007's Note - He's been learning English since last summer and has worked in England for a year with no problems communicating.}

7.) 16 May 2019 10:31:27
Cheers guys

Like I said he’s been bang on before but don’t know if board were giving any encouragement from Bielsa representatives. He was adamant that majority of board want a biggish name. They’re terrified of being left behind when changes in Euro come. The general consensus is they feel having a biggish name will also help them sell the Celtic brand.

8.) 17 May 2019 11:18:16
Ryan now that would be an excellent appointment.

Absolutely love wee M Johnstone. Love how he's always looking to take his man on, no fear in the young lad. Seems to be learning to pass more too than always looking for the shot. Hope he's around for a good few year that lad.

1.) 02 Jul 2019 19:46:45
Pass more? He might as well had a baw for himself tonight.

2.) 02 Jul 2019 20:21:37
Bit harsh. I’ve watched him last few year and he definitely has improved in that department. Hopefully he ll bulk up abit.

First friendly I’ve seen so far live (missed first 15mins) and that was a really poor team performance. Were the others that bad too?

3.) 02 Jul 2019 20:30:05
Still waiting to see him doing it against tough opposition; but no denying he has bags of skill, just needs a bit more muscle IMO.

4.) 02 Jul 2019 20:43:16
For frigg sake lads it’s pre season all about getting the fitness up and rustiness out our systems.

5.) 02 Jul 2019 20:48:42
Ryan at least 4 times tonight he could have slipped the ball to one of our players and tried to go himself and lost the ball almost instantly.

The one they hit the post was a disgrace as he looked and seen Hayes on the overlap and still just turned into traffic.
It’s constant from him.
Yes he is skillful and yes he is just young but if he’s got to play for the team.

6.) 02 Jul 2019 21:03:20
Duff we have a major game next week. Would you be happy starting with that line up?

7.) 02 Jul 2019 22:55:53
anything good we done he was part of. Think you’re being overly critical on the boy. Forrest only stopped playing like that when Rodgers got a grip of him. The boy will learn and it’ll be through the first team he learns that hopefully.

Apart from Ajer they were all rotten, Ralston too.

17 Jun 2019 10:37:21
Gordon, Bain

Tierney, Ralston, Miller*, Hayes, Ajer, Simunovic, Hendry

Bitton, Kouassi, Brown, Mcgregor, Christie, Rogic

Edouard, Bayo, Griffthis, Johnstone, Forrest, Sinclair, Shved, Arzani, Morgan

De Vries, Benkovic, Boyata, Compper, Izaguirre, Toljan, Lustig, Gamboa, Mulumbu, Allan, Nitcham, Burke.

1.) 17 Jun 2019 10:57:20
Think young Henderson will stay as well and we have wee Dembele and the two American lads who could make the squad?

2.) 17 Jun 2019 12:07:40
Sure the 2 Americans are away till at least January but heard we have recall option.

3.) 17 Jun 2019 12:09:41
That’s the 2018/ 19 list. I’m not sure if the two you mentioned have been promoted to first team squad. Both contenders though.

4.) 17 Jun 2019 19:35:36
That boy gutman scored last night, I like attacking fbs, hopefully he's in the mould of KT and Robertson.

15 Jun 2019 15:25:04
Haven't a clue what the club has offered the boy or what the boy has asked for but I'd take the gamble and get him signed up.

Our scouts coaches will know all about his ability from the u20s. He's 19 His first season stepping up he scores 16 goals in under 40games from midfield, can pass and shoot with both feet confidently, puts a shift in and has the bottle to step up to take penalties.

When was the last time a 19yr SCOTS lad who can use BOTH feet scores 16 goals from midfield in his first season.

Conclusion: take the gamble and sign him up. He's only going to get better.

1.) 15 Jun 2019 15:34:52
Good post Ryan. spot on.

2.) 15 Jun 2019 16:02:53
James Forrest uses both feet and scored more.
No way the boy should get near 20 grand a week. He's done nothing to warrant it.
What would the likes of Ajer be doing if this boy gets that money?
He's be straight up to lawwells door and he wouldn't be only one.

3.) 15 Jun 2019 16:25:33
Forrest wasn’t using both feet at 19 only last few years has Forrest improved (since Rodgers tbh)

4.) 15 Jun 2019 16:41:46
And who said anything about giving him 20k? How do you know that’s what he asked for?

5.) 15 Jun 2019 17:50:07
Get this boy signed up and stop messing about
Offer him £15 grand as I think he will be worth every penny
He scored 15 goals in his first season from midfield for MOTHERWELL.

6.) 15 Jun 2019 18:52:08
Jinky mic. Gave him is £15m per wk and let whoever is the manager in a couple of years hawk him all round Europe trying to get someone to take him off our hands . This happens every year exciting talent comes we pay over the odds wkly wages to get him to sign . Player becomes complacent with big money .
D D tells them to sell before they can sign.

7.) 15 Jun 2019 19:46:55
Fair point old man Chris but I think this lad Is the real deal
Let’s not let him slip through our fingers and at Celtic he can only get better.

8.) 15 Jun 2019 19:49:29
Look at Mcginn he is ripping it at Aston Villa
And he will do well in the prem we let him slip through our fingers🤬.

9.) 15 Jun 2019 21:34:38
Don't offer a penny more and give him till Friday to make decision. Realistically a fully fit Christie will keep him out team. Would rather they bring in Harper from West Brom.

10.) 16 Jun 2019 00:52:35
Correct Kev. The lad is a terrific prospect but no one is bigger than the club. Let him go to England. We don't have time to mess around. Move onto the next target.

11.) 16 Jun 2019 10:20:54
What if what he's asking for is more than some of the guys already there doing a job this would put noses out of joint maybe cause a rift and de rail the whole club we don't know what was offered or asked for as you say but we have to trust the club will do what's right for the whole club just my opinion.

12.) 16 Jun 2019 10:31:28
I can’t see this working now on a number of fronts. He’s cast doubts over us being the club for him. There’s risk over upsetting the dressing room with his wage claims. If we agree to a first team place to seal the deal and he’s not good enough to fill the shirt as has happened before, then his ego and demands could be his downfall.

I say we move on.

13.) 15 Jun 2019 22:59:28
Complete different situation with McGinn. Lawell and Board wanted teach B R a lesion as they thought he was too flash and easy buying players in previous window which were no benefit to Celtic, so PL wanted to bring Brendan down a peg or two and rightly or wrongly we. missed out on McGinn.
Boat was pushed out for Turnbull and it appears either him or his agent doesn't want him at Celtic .
If so we will survive.

31 May 2019 22:13:44
Moving on from the appointment of Lennon how would you like us to play/ setup next season?

Me personally would love to see that quick press come back into our play. Loved watching us hunt players/ spaces down. Drop Rogic and get some wee nippy 2footer in there bit of team work in him. Build from back but more direct. Have keeper clear his lines if needs must, noticed last few games Bain was trying those Gordon passes out to flanks, his first few games he'd clear it if easy ball out wasn't on.

Intrigued to see how lennon gets the boys going.

1.) 31 May 2019 23:01:11
It staggers me why we don't press teams!

2.) 01 Jun 2019 08:27:33
When Dembele was was up top for some reason we were far better at the high press in my opinion.

29 May 2019 09:02:52
I'm not going to moan about Lennon appointment anymore. Think I bought into my in-laws bull crap and really believed we were going for a Bielsa type. I study tactics, systems, training methods in my spare time and the thought of having someone like that at my club got my pants wet 🤷🏻‍♂️

And see this crap about not wanting to play out grom the back! So you'd want to just have the keeper punt the ball up now? Name me one good team who play like that? 3year ago we started playing out from the back and keeping possession, guess what?! We done 3trebles playing like that! If you think that's a coincidence you really don't know much about football tbh.

1.) 29 May 2019 10:38:27
Playing out from the back is the modern game and is fine, what we need to cut out is the passing around at the back. When the defenders get the ball players further forward need to make sure they are available rather than passing around between the back 4 and keeper till 1 of the make a mistake.

{Ed007's Note - It's not the defence that are slowing the game down it's Scott Brown. When he gets the ball he should be getting his head up and moving the play forward and getting the team on the front foot, he doesn't do that and ends up just passing it back to the defence or it's a short sideways pass that usually just comes back to him. Our main playmaker can't do the job he's being asked to do and it's as plain as the nose on your face, throw in Rogic and the 2 main creative positions are not up to scratch, nowhere near it.}

2.) 29 May 2019 10:38:45
He said he wanted to cut down on the amount of touches we have because unless you've got some sort of memory loss we were conceding goals and giving away possession too easy. and btw this was being said on here when st Brendan was coach.

{Ed007's Note - Since January we've played 23 domestic games (league and cup) and lost one game, we kept 17 clean sheets while conceding 7 goals so I don't see how you can say we were conceding goals.}

3.) 29 May 2019 10:41:08
Every good team plays out from the back to ensure possession, but it's what happens with that possession that was really matters.
Players need to be comfortable on the ball - especially under pressure - and be able to find space and pick the right pass at the right time, with quick movement and pace - creating chances.
The team are certainly very good at retaining possession, but some opponents were wise to our style of play and kept us at bay more and more, as we became predictable and our build up was slow; as after the invincible season, we lacked that bit of drive, flair and slick passing-interchanges to overcome stuffy defenses.
Playing without a recognized number 9 and lacking creativity in midfield contributed to some below par performances recently - as did the injury crisis and change of management.
It's been pointed out we lack a plan B when we struggle to break teams down or can't create enough chances; so there is work to do in the personnel and tactical department before next season.

4.) 29 May 2019 11:37:47
@Mally. Memory is bang on bud. I’m talking about fans wanting to stop playing from the back. Not going to criticise Lennon anymore until see what way he has us playing next season. As a player I loved Lennon. I was there when he got booed at home playing Stuttgart because he passed the ball backwards.

Have to agree with EDS regarding brown slowing the play down. He lacks the passing ability and vision, wee Callum in there always has the head up looking forward for quick pass. Rogic is a burst ball for me I’d punt him in a heartbeat. Surely we can get better in there.

The potential at our club has is huge.

5.) 29 May 2019 12:35:49
Your right ed we haven't conceded many goals apart from Europe when we can't keep possession. usually after big Gordon skims one out to lustigs head. but we were commenting on here at the time that we were over doing it in some games. I am all for it but you need good players to play this way especially against better teams. salzburg comes to mind.

{Ed007's Note - Celtic in Europe is like an inexperienced prostitute, we just need to try and protect ourselves against getting pumped rotten. The quicker the breakaway league happens the better.}

6.) 29 May 2019 12:57:59
There's very little movement off the ball most the team stand and want the ball played to them when man marked. Teams know if they press us we'll lose the ball at the back and that's where we lose too many silly goals. Especially in Europe it's embarrassing some of the errors that cost us goals.

7.) 29 May 2019 13:24:52
Yet right ed cringe when we try and match better teams instead of shutting up shop and nicking something.

{Ed007's Note - At European matches there's teams that we should be dominating, teams we should be cautious about and teams we just need to keep the scoreline respectable. We seem to go from one extreme to the other and play within ourselves - when we seem to inevitably shoot ourselves in the foot - against teams we can compete against and then we try and go toe to toe with your Barcas and PSGs.}

8.) 29 May 2019 23:18:05
I am not sure any of us knows how to play Scot Brown's role any better than himself. We are all brilliant at telling the Board, CEO, Manager and individual players who make up the team how to do the their job . It's surprising we have all been overlooked for all the jobs.

9.) 29 May 2019 23:54:10
Playing out from the back is good, but playing out from the back, then playing along the back line then passing back to the goalie then playing out from the back, ad nauseam, is bad, you need someone with the confidence and ability to pass forward or go round the opponent, when put under pressure,

To think we re miles ahead of them is delusional. In the league they beat us twice out of 4games and were 9points behind, miles ahead? Aye right. Oh we played rubbish I’ll hear and still won league, did that mob not play rubbish too with all their draws. Now we are going to play a different way with new manager and players while their squad is pretty settled with better backup players being added than they had before, their youth setup has be dramatically changed from top to bottom and their youths won everything bar the Glasgow cup last season.

We ve lost 2first team players and potentially another 2, that’s 4starters out from the 11. So far they’ve not lost one first team starter. And how we getting on with signings lately?

Miles ahead 😂😂🤦🏻‍♂️.

Goodluck to the lad. A few clubs have been trying to sign him up since he was 14. What a football education he ll get at Bayern, our loss but hopefully Scotland’s gain.

JIMTIM, clubs also contact other clubs and agents to let them know a player might be available or they’re willing to sell now at a certain price.

As far as I’m aware, McGinn was already on his way down to speak to Bruce when we agreed a few with Hibs. Don’t blame the boy one bit for going down south.

What about the boy Sam Byram. Seems to have lost his way at West Ham, looked at player at Leeds. He has a year left on his contract could probably get him for pennies. 25yr I think, worth a gamble?
