So reading that the Offensive Behaviour at Football Act looks like it is going to be repealed (final vote in 6 weeks)
So why did Celtic fans in particular not like this Act?
I know there are more knowledgable people on our forum, including our ED007, but from what I read it was skewed mainly against Celtic fans, because it covered "political chants, banners" ie Republican flags, banners, songs etc which allowed the police to crack down hard on the Green Brigade for instance.
Some senior policemen in a moment of honesty said that sectarian songs and other offensive songs (eg the famine song, or singing about the deaths of the Lisbon Lions) flew under the radar.
For an example we have all seen footage of the GB being "kettled in" stopped from marching to the ground, filmed by police inside and outside the ground. Searched and banners and flags confiscated.
Compare that to the recent union bears sectarian march last week, which not only did the police know was illegal, but ALLOWED it to go ahead, even though offensive banners and songs were being sung.
The Act will go but NOT the anti Irish sentiments behind it.

Nazi salutes? check. imagine ANY other group pulled that s"3t? we all know what would happen.
