Thank you Hearts!
5 points clear with a game in hand with Motherwell away tomorrow.
If we win that and its a BIG if, we are 8 points clear going into the split effectively 9 points given our goal difference.
An emphatic win tomorrow is required.

League is over, all but the shouting . It's nice to have it totally in our own hands by the split . If we win tomorrow the league will be as good as over . If we don't win tomorrow the league will nearly be over . Fair play to the "useless" R D and the team of rubbish players, despite such an aweful combination we have 5 in a row.

Paulbhoy, why all the negativity we have only lost 3 games all season yes we have drew 7 but it's hardly a disaster is it? I know the football has been poor most of the time but is it not results and trophies that matter most? .

I agree its results and trophies that matter
BUT I also agree the football IS poor. Our standards should be play great entertaining football, win the league and at least one cup and get beyond Christmas in Europe. Especially without Rangers around!
Look at the crowds at CP. Look at the crowds at the away games!
Its one dimensional football and very predictable with the odd exceptional game. We finished last in our european group.
My first Celtic game was as a kid when my Dad took me to the Dunfermline Scottish Cup Final in 1965.
I lived through the glory years and the famine.
I don't think we are in a good place and its not good to watch.

Great post Paul

Balanced and valid. The annoying thing is the standards. The lack of tangible progress as a team. Bright spots excluded such as LG and KT. Ed is also convincing however. Are our expectations still too great when you consider the financial reality? Domestic success yes. Ideally with a bit of flair and a bit to spare. Hope and expectation fills Celtic park. We had big crowds under TB. Crowds are low because many many many fans see the Celtic operation as a one way ticket to nothingness IE poor predictable one paced and low standards ( and yes we may come out victorious ) but it's a recipe for every decreasing crowds

I can just about guarantee that RD leave success and cup will have little impact ( if any ) on season book sales. The CFC recipe at the moment from top to bottom doesn't taste right and that's why ( en mass ) Celtic fans aren't consuming

I have concluded that there is no corners to turn. Our displays are not form related. We are simply a poor team ( best in the league over a marathon season ) with a poor management team and a self limiting remote executive board

Celtic do have domestic talent in abundance ( more potential than talent ) and so there's a little hope but ibrox will be bouncing next season. Hate them or loathe them, they have a feel good factor. Rate them or mock them, they are consuming the product. CFC are sleepwalking in to ever lower standards and the " investment " required by others to compete is no longer a necessary precursor to valid competition. We are inviting them towards us and not staying ahead or moving away from them and that's a worry.

The problem is that our board are downsizing the quality in the Celtic first team squad, cashing in on any playing asset and replacing them with poorer, cheaper players and they took the cheap option with a manager and proclaimed him as an innovative team builder which he clearly is not, the crowds are down because the standards and quality have dropped and it is no longer like watching Celtic more often than not, if RD is still in charge and the board continue asset stripping the team crowds will not recover even with Newco in the league, it is hard to watch .

That's the issue. I think the board are holding out for a response in crowd appetite with rangers back up. There will be added intensity to the immaterial matches but season book sales will founder if the status quo endures I'm sure of it. The issue with RD isn't about like or dislike it's about our en mass attitude to him wth regard to competency and his ability to motivate and inspire players so that ( despite poor standards ) they literally run through brick walls for him. I'm not so sure (a) because many players are in a deep embedded comfort zone and (b) because he doesn't even demand high standards because he wouldn't know what they look like owing to his own lack of experience and ( c ) there are no apparent disincentives for players even when they've been rank rotten for weeks IE they still get picked

I would love to see a hint of progress ( not relative to the ECL days ) but simply relative to last year but when you observe Ciftci Cole and CKR someone sonewhere thinks that these types are a good idea. Hmmmmmmm.
