Has anyone heard of JULEN LOPETEGUI the former Porto manager? He likes to play 433 and is out of a job atm, I know this sort of appointment would take brains in the boardroom (which we lack) but would anyone want him or be willing to give him a chance, it's just someone I came across on a site called transfermarkt you guys should check it out has all the info regarding football you could need. It's also very upto date.

Here are his credentials. Hardly what you'd expect from a manager with some success under his belt!

In 2003, Lopetegui was one of Spain coach Juan Santisteban's assistants at the UEFA European Under-17 Championship. After the tournament, he had his first head coaching spell at Rayo, with the club in the second level, being sacked after the tenth match of the 2003–04 campaign, which ended in relegation to division three; after working as a sports commentator, including for laSexta in the 2006 FIFA World Cup, he returned to coaching, with a side he represented in the 1980s, Real Madrid Castilla, now in the third tier.

From 2010 to 2014 Lopetegui worked with the Spanish youth teams, winning the 2012 European Under-19 Championship and the 2013 Under-21 Championship. [12] He left the Royal Spanish Football Federation on 30 April 2014, following the expiration of his contract.

On 6 May 2014 Lopetegui returned to club duties, being appointed at Portugal's FC Porto. [14] He signed seven Spanish players to the club that summer.

In his first season at the Estádio do Dragão, with the club's biggest budget ever, Lopetegui led them to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, where they equalized the club's biggest defeat in European competitions (6–1 against AEK Athens FC) and suffered their biggest defeat in the competition (6–1 against FC Bayern Munich) . He failed to conquer any silverware, contributing to the biggest hiatus (two years) during Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa's presidency.

On 8 January 2016, after a 1–3 home loss to C. S. Marítimo in the Taça da Liga, as Porto had already been eliminated from the Champions League and was ranked third in the domestic league after an away loss and a home draw, Lopetegui was relieved of his duties, being replaced by Rui Barros. One week later, the club announced that it had terminated the former's contract unilaterally.

I had a thought today . Does anyone think the board are intentionally holding us back as to make it more competitive and generate more interest, because as we have seen with the elite league p1sh Celtic are not considered one of the big boys anymore in terms of revenue fan base etc therefore a competitive league may be the best way to make us look good rather than be good which comes down to the old problem money makers/ takers making football decisions. I however believe being a good football team and being competitive is the best way to increase our clubs image and respect.

According to the majority of places you look on the internet we have spent over 10 million pounds of players since the summer. Aberdeen have spent nothing.

If that is a strategy from our board to make it a more competitive league then they should all be sacked on the spot.

The truth is we have overspent on poor quality players. We have a squad filled with average players. RD doesn't have a clue what his best team is. I could go on but it is too depressing.

I really don't see how we can call ourselves a big club these days because we are not. We don't compete in Europe. We don't fill the stadium. We can't compete in the transfer market. As for this myth we have millions of fans what a nonsense that is it certainly doesn't show on shirt sales does it.

The potential to be a big club is there but sorry that days are long gone until new people with a bit of ambition run the club. The truth hurts i'm afraid.

Wont be long before the top tier is closed every game at this rate. The time for change is upon us and it is no longer the minority shouting for it.

Delphic I disagree about him having contacts as you will remember when he took over at Man U no one wanted to sign for him/ them, every player linked with Man U distanced himself from them. The best thing his contacts would bring would be some loan signings. As for Ronny the set up he likes to play requires fast paced direct wingers so he either has a say and can't identify a good winger from a attacking midfielder or he doesn't have a say and keeps getting hit with bang average attacking midfielders which is hardly his fault. I seriously can't see the type of manager most on here want because why would they agree to that when it's not like they are getting world class players dropped on them but rather Carlton Coles and ckrs and ciftis etc etc.

Did moyes personally sign those players or even identify them or did someone at the club do it? Apart from one season where he finished fourth (was almost a decade ago if I remember right) he kept them mediocre at best, he's good about as much tactical intelligence as Ronny and looked like a fish out of water at both Man U and real. Plus he was under no pressure at Everton to be successful a cup here or there was success at Everton, I personally don't think he could deal with the demands of the fans or the board. And I know for sure if he got the job and failed to qualify for the cl people would be baying for blood already. We need someone to excite the fans not bore us to death. Plus he talks absolute bollocks.

Let's be very clear about something. Celtic fc can no longer afford the sort of manager we want/ require, we will not get a hugely successful manager we are just as much a stepping stone for managers (although as Lennon proved being successful at Celtic still doesn't mean you will get a good job at the end of it) as we are players. We do not have the signing budget to attract top managers or managers with huge potential to be world class, we will get the type of manager to suit our club who will have relatively low ''success''.

I think he is wrong about Ronny. Sutton has his head in the mon days, I don't remember him criticising Ronny last season, let's look at the facts Ronny lost his 2 main cb in one window and Lawell gave him boyata and an injury prone jozo so it was always going to be hard to be solid at the back. The board realised they had messed up and signed erik who has looked hot and cold I feel he needs another cb to form a partnership with maybe that's jozo if he can keep himself fit. The one thing Sutton is right is the quality of football but the players must take a major share of the blame for that IMO. I honestly believe Ronny will win the double this season and then depending on who the board recruits I think he will make at least some form of Europe.

I think he was just stating that most don't see the good that is being done at CP. but rather focus on the negativity and then you reply in a negative way criticising him for being negative. See the irony?

Paulbhoy, why all the negativity we have only lost 3 games all season yes we have drew 7 but it's hardly a disaster is it? I know the football has been poor most of the time but is it not results and trophies that matter most? .
