Celtic make second bid of 4 million euros to SC Heerenveen for Alfred Finnbogason

MikeyBhoy88 {Ed007's Note - 4 million Euros is still the same amount in £ as the reported first bid.}

I think the bid was upped to 4million pounds ed {Ed007's Note - The Dutch website reporting the bid cites today's SM as it's source.}

We're going to sign him just testing them as usual and there's meant to be 2 other names in the mix but everyone is being tightlipped

As Homer would say - doh!

4.) 11 Aug 2013
This has become completely cringe worthy-everyone has known for about a year Hooper wanted to leave, Wanyama also refused to sign an extension dating back months. What is the problem with Celtic? For once treat the fans with a bit of respect, we were told we would re-invest what we brought in, so do it. We know there are other things outwith transfers but surely the champions league money will more than cover that. Take no notice off the Liverpool result yesterday-this squad lacks real quality right through the spine of the team-when injuries/suspensions/fatigue etc bite we will be lacking big time, not in Scotland but certainly in Europe-which is where we should be defined, especially without the other mob. Just one little caveat, I don't see Aberdeen dropping many points so we can't take anything for granted, especially as I said with fatigue etc after european games, we just have to look at last season and that was with Hooper/Wanyama/Wilson! Only way they will get them to accept is to offer £4.3 million as that will match there asking price of €5 million

We all need to get a grip as far as these transfers are concerned. The Wanyama issue was very good business by the club as far as I'm concerned. Wanyama was always using the club at a stepping stone for a better "team/league"and by refusing his contract extension when on offer all he done was save the club money as I'm positive he was always going to ask to leave for Southampton regardless of his Celtic contract. Getting the best part of £12m profit was also a cracking bit of business especially as he didn't always replicate the Champions league performances in the SPL. The Hooper deal was also great business £2m - £2.5m profit for a player who will be no nearer the England squad at Norwich but scored plenty of goals overall but think his SPL scoring last season could have been better. Also £2.5m profit on Wilson cannot be sniffed at as again there was no way he wanted to stay albeit for different reasons. Now a chief executive and board that can hold out for that kind of money under those kind of conditions is never going to splash the cash willy nilly but some of the comments about get your finger out and I can't believe we penny pinching and biscuit tin stuff is way off the mark and is exactly the same attitude that sunk the Sevconians. I for one have no place for that in our great club. I, like am sure we all do, want these quality signings but would rather take an extra couple of weeks for the right terms and conditions than throwing everything away in rush deals.

I would also prefer Vossen-done it over a longer period(but the same age) he also has a better pedigree. Belgium probably producing the best players in Europe at the moment as well. This time last year Benteke was a bit of an unknown! Paul

We do not have weeks to sign the players that we require, the window closes tommorow. The club knew that the players were leaving this window but had not the fore thought to ensure that we had the players in to replace them. Prior to the qualifing rounds of the Champions Legue.

Statistically I think the Mail is the least believable paper is it not? Nobody I talk to who sometimes meet people 'in the know' has a clue if this interest is genuine. With persistent reported interest though coupled with tw*tter comments and NLs refusal to dismiss him, I do believe there's something in it. I'll be pleased if we sign him for £5m. Not just because he'll be better than Hooper (stickin' my kneck out smiley) but it's about time that even in our own climate and environment, a club of our stature will go out and spend £5m on a goalscorer.

After reading the papers this morning I can't help thinking av heard this story before the club want 5 million and now we won't pay that even though he is worth it and another team (Werder Bremen) will nip in and nab him at a bargin 5 mill I hope am wrong

If we don't pay the 5 mill being quoted for an out and out goal scorer I really don't know what's next. As a club we love to put top dollar figures on players when clubs come calling but refuse to pay the going rate for players we badly need. I really hope and pray that the board go the extra mile for this lad and repay the fans with a signing they deserve.

Just heard the deal is nearly dead, we aren't willing to cough up the asking price or close to it, hope its bull but with celtic u never know, could be true. I thought the window was a time to strengthen a squad, not make it weaker which has already happened, I'm happy with the signings so far but we ALREADY needed those players before the window opened.

Come on the time for dithering is definitely over, let's get in the players we urgently need otherwise CL may very well pass us by, losing us even more revenue in the long run.
