I see we are reported as being interested in the Salzberg LB Gideon Mensah was scouted by Barcelona. looks very fast on utube but not the greatest testament of a players ability. However this would really stuff it to kilmarnock having bought a replacement.

1.) 27 Aug 2019 18:08:04
I don't care about stuffing it to killie. I care about getting the right player for our team.
This boy I know nothing about except he's very inexperienced and looks like he'd be a back up at this moment.
He also would have to do some serious travelling when it comes to international Football, so with all that in mind I'd rather Taylor.

2.) 27 Aug 2019 18:53:20
Much prefer Taylor. He knows the league and has proven to be a solid LB and now a international. The last thing we need is another young guy to go into the development side. We need players that can go into the first team.

3.) 27 Aug 2019 18:56:55
If Meling isn't coming then we should be getting the Taylor deal done pronto and stop feckin about over a few quid. Does our club never learn? HH.

4.) 27 Aug 2019 19:05:18
That'll teach Killie to ask for decent money for their prized asset!

5.) 27 Aug 2019 19:24:59
Looks like Gideon Mensah is already on loan at Sturm Graz .

6.) 27 Aug 2019 19:30:30
Use a fringe player plus cash and just get the feckin player Lawell!

7.) 27 Aug 2019 19:37:40
@Drewzybhoy he was on loan at Sturm Graz for the second half of last season.

8.) 27 Aug 2019 19:58:33
Seems he's tried that OAB and they said no.

9.) 27 Aug 2019 20:33:03
I read on another site, it’s a loan deal . This window is getting worse, signing players no one has heard from, and now they are loan deals. What is going on at our club? It’s embarrassing .
We have been fed so much crap this window it’s unbelievable. Lies after lies
Players will be in before champions league qualifiers : never materialised
We have a plan if kt is sold : nothing materialised
We will wait and use the English market once it’s shut : only Fraser on loan
We will have two players in by today : nothing again.
And on and on we go, meanwhile the window is closing on us. We all know the people will get Ryan kent and it will be another boost to their morale, while we sell off or let our defence leave without replacing them properly . Look to push out one of our biggest goal threats . If we sign only loans, Peter makes his profit, I wish he would be asked to leave, get someone in who puts the team first before profits and hotel ideas . We are a football club, where fans travel far and wide to support . Myself included, I’m really not bothered what hotel I stay at.

10.) 27 Aug 2019 20:57:32
I agree with all of that Quinn bar PL to go. What we need is a football man making these decisions. The major shareholders also need to know that running a football club, that so many put their heart and soul (and hard earned money) into, is different from running any other business where the aim is just to make a profit.

Kev if the reports are correct that we've offered 1m when they only asked for 3m then I'd hardly say we have tried.

11.) 27 Aug 2019 21:04:24
It truly is a complete joke, Thursday will be difficult and we may sneak through but I'm not confident for Sunday. I honestly think this could be a disaster of a week, the moaning will start at 2pm on Sunday, and quite rightly so, the board are a disgrace.

12.) 27 Aug 2019 21:14:57
If pl would allow a football person to come in beside him and he stayed on the business side that would be good. I just don’t think he would hand over the reins that easy, also his bonus etc is linked to the football business making a profit . It would only be arguments all the time as the football side would be asking for better players, Peter would be wanting to keep costs down . Not sure how it would work.

13.) 27 Aug 2019 21:47:03
How should killie not ask for top dollar pot kettle on here sometimes.

14.) 27 Aug 2019 21:49:45
I've officially stopped even looking now at who we're looking at they're just names plucked out the air and nothing seems to be happening it's becoming very frustrating.

15.) 27 Aug 2019 22:00:48
total shambles again, this board can`t do transfers, laughing stock again, when will the fans wake up to this nonsense ever transfer window, Manager making a complete fool of himself again, PL has to go .

16.) 27 Aug 2019 22:43:52
Somebody reads something in the paper and gets all upset about it, because it's in the paper it must be true, it's amazing the power and influence of the media, the papers, TV, radio, now we have the internet aswell, just look at what Orson Welles did in the fifties with the Martian invasion, with the old fashioned radio, now rumours and speculation fly across Twitter and WhatsApp and chatrooms, and before you know it people are having stand up arguments about a pack of nonsense, calm down and carry on, wait untill the transfer window is closed then start arguing.

17.) 28 Aug 2019 00:27:01
I think they will wheel turnbull out on the last day and that will be our wack.

18.) 28 Aug 2019 06:35:21
Bang on Mally. For weeks this page was talking about how we won't let Tierney go on the cheap because he plays in Scotland. Which I agree with. Then the club identify his replacement and won't stump up an EIGHTH of the fee. It makes a laughing stock of the club.

19.) 28 Aug 2019 06:37:21
Aindoh, I don’t always agree with your posts but your spot on the money for me here. Panic and frenzy overload all based upon fake news and social media.

20.) 28 Aug 2019 07:17:18
I feel strongly that we need another few players in during this window but I think everyone needs to calm down until it 100% does not happen. There has been no promises giving by Lennon, he’s just openly told us what he wants and what we are looking for. Everything else is speculation until we get it done. To say that it’s no good signing get players that no one has knowing about on loan is irrelevant when you consider the fact that no one knew about players like wanyama etc. I would like to see a left back in for this game at the weekend but all be can do is hope. If we sign 6 players by Sunday there will still be people on here skating Lennon, the board and the players for not being good enough.

21.) 28 Aug 2019 09:29:15
I don’t see how it was fake news, the comments were said by the manager. After every euro game he came out and said he wanted players in but never got them. He said he or they had a contingency plan if kt left, it would seem playing calmac there was the plan. I know people can go overboard but I can’t see how people don’t realise we go through this scenario every transfer window. Why is it that we have to sit back and relax and see what happens at the end o of the window. My trust in the board to deliver has gone unfortunately .

22.) 28 Aug 2019 10:19:08
That’s Rosenberg out, get Meling.

21 Jun 2019 19:46:10
NL saying in his interveiw players definatley leaving. Hope it is not Tierney, Macgregor, Or Forrest.

jonace

1.) 21 Jun 2019 20:04:52
This is the worry - especially with The Leicester Louse keeping tabs on our players. It wouldn't surprise me if the Turnbull deal isn't a sweetener for some bad news on the horizon.
It's also more likely that we will only get decent bids for decent players and the surplus fringe players will be harder to shift?
All we can hope for is that the Board uses any considerable income to invest in real quality and not supplement/ settle for bargains.
We cannot afford to drop our standards, or lose the initiative.

2.) 21 Jun 2019 21:25:37
I fully believe that our "contacting" Turnbulls people last night was because of the below. I was discussing a couple of points with a pal of mine last night and today about the whole situation.

1. we were custard pied by other targets after telling him to jog on.
2. we needed that type of player because we have already accepted an offer from the RAT for Big Tam Rogic.

I then heard that some unknown Journo down south has now stated that a 17.5mil bid will be coming in from RAT City for Calmac. It all seems to be falling into place for Pedro.

Build a half decent team that can do damage with adequate additions (additions we all have been screaming out to get for 3 windows if not more. RB and CB's) and our team could be dismanteled to fill it with Kilmarnock and Motherwell players.

What if the Kieran bids are to good to refuse, also what if the Eddy bids are to good to refuse (not from the fans stand point, we are meaningless to the club) as i appears now. Its ok Pedro will sanction moves for Taylor and Brophy from Killie. Not to mention the still more than possible move for O'connel to fill lustigs boots.

I couldn't care less if they are signing people, they take in 10 players a season and still haven't won a cup. We are being taken for granted and have been for far to long. The fans deserve a better product on the pitch.

We are 3 or 4 very good signings in key areas away from being an excellent football team. This top guys have to be kept otherwise the back lash that will come if we fail to get 9 far less 10 will be on a massive scale.

3.) 21 Jun 2019 21:39:48
Love big tam to bits buts he's no where near fit enough to play in epl he's not even fit enough to play in spl half the time.

4.) 21 Jun 2019 22:05:51
God I hope Rodgers has had a bid for the myth that is rogic.

5.) 21 Jun 2019 22:45:24
Now could be the time to cash in on Rogic. has been a good player for us but we're just not getting value for him over the past 18 months.

I expect a goalie to leave and maybe 2 or 3 other midfielders.

I will end up on that Kerrydale Meltdowns Twitter account if Tierney, McGregor or Forrest go.

6.) 22 Jun 2019 02:08:04
Why do people always think the worst? He could of meant fringe players.

7.) 22 Jun 2019 02:55:17
I Would be amazed if Celtic were willing to let McGregor or Forrest go or if the players themselves would want to go. Ya maybe it's rogic they are after which l won't mind too much. Good player but injury prone and a drifts in and out of games at times.

8.) 22 Jun 2019 05:08:45
Would happily let rogic go for the right money but we must keep mcgregor and tierney. The club should issue a statement saying under no circumstances this season will tierney or mcgregor be going anywhere. Let yer Leicester, Arsenal, Napoli etc know they can’t just turn up here thinking the can take our best players on the cheap. I mean £15 million for tierney. are arsenal having a laugh? That only buys his right leg.

9.) 22 Jun 2019 12:27:02
What would people realistically expect for Rogic? £6m? As he isn't prolific enough in a poor league and his fitness is horrendous. Bit like McCourt, pleasing on the eye bags of ability but the fitness of a pub league player.

10.) 22 Jun 2019 16:48:21
if we can see rogic only gives us a bit of a season so can everyone else and that includes the rat so why would they be interested in paying good money for him, its most likely calmac as i seem to remember the rat saying that calmac had everything to be a top player and any team would want him.

10 Jan 2019 17:27:34
Reports coming out of America that we have signed Gutman and Manny Perez more young players coming in. I do not have a problem with youth as long as there are quality and stay a good few years.

jonace

1.) 10 Jan 2019 23:12:02
Manny perez following celtic twitter now, could be nothing or could mean he's signed. Any chance at all you think hell be a first team player this season Ed, if signed?

{Ed007's Note - He might get a run out against a Dundee or Accies or depending on who we get in the cup but I can't see him being a regular starter.}

16 Jun 2018 16:11:12
I have just read that the Edouard transfer fee was as follows
4.5 million + add ons for champions league group stage qualifing for four years + extra if capped for france + his agent and wages for four years
Total 9 million that would tie in with what BR said.

jonace

1.) 16 Jun 2018 17:03:20
I can’t believe what you’ve just described is the biggest potential outlay ever by the club, which is what they said in the club statement. Sutton and Lennon were both £6m and must surely have been on at least £25k per week in wages.

2.) 17 Jun 2018 01:44:09
I'll concede that the deal has been done ;) . As far as the contractually binding bump up fees go? . Your a country mile ahead jono. I've not seen the paperwork. No one has. Unless James Forrest decides to write a novela of his life so far with a tasty insider tell all and spills the beans we will never know.

3.) 18 Jun 2018 11:38:58
What’s your source for this breakdown?

22 May 2018 16:24:02
I see we are being linked to a Newcastle defender. They are quoting a price of 8 million it will never happen at that cost no way will Pl or BR sanction that for a player who could not even play in a mediocre PL team.
Also i have not seen any interest in Stuart Armstrong from any sites he will be lucky to get a move to a average championship club. He would be better off staying where he is on improved terms.
And finally i believe that the deal for Osmund Edouard would be more like the same as that of Ntcham.

With the departure of Hayes it looks as if serious changes to the squad are on the way. I only hope it is NL who is getting to choose the replacements. He is on record saying he wanted to keep JH and GG now that these have gone along with released players it should free up some money for quality signings. I am worried that one of the rumours is for a Vukovic from a Belguim club who were relegated and failed to keep aclean sheet all year.

jonace

1.) 30 May 2020 09:57:28
Who is GG?

2.) 30 May 2020 11:34:03
Graig Gordon 👍🏻.

3.) 30 May 2020 14:20:54
Greta Garbo.

4.) 30 May 2020 15:17:36
Maybe that's NL's nickname for him the showers - horse?

5.) 30 May 2020 16:47:01
Timalloy would have guessed what it stood for he’s good with the GGs.

6.) 30 May 2020 17:10:57
surely no doubt lennon wanted to keep hayes reading his post i think there could have been an offer on the table for another year at least he said sometimes you have to make hard decisions which indicates he was offered.

26 May 2020 17:54:54
Simple question for everyone given that transfer speculation is beginning emerge who would you ( the supporter} prefer

a) Forster if affordable, Bain or A. N. Other

b) Benokovic, MacKenna or Denayer

c) Elyouanossi, Fraser or stick with Johnston.

d) Play Shved, Dembele or buy A. N. Other

e) O'Donnell, Soppy or give Frimmpong a full season and find out how good he is

f) Hold on to Edouard Buy A. N. Other or give what we have a chance.

jonace

{Ed007's Note - a) Forster. b) None of them. c) Elyounoussi. d) Tough one but I'd say A. N. other e) Frimpong is never a RB/RWB so I'd go for Soppy there. f) Hold Edouard but we still need a bare minimum of one striker brought in.}

1.) 26 May 2020 20:30:30
A) Forster with bain as number 2.

B) Benkovic made of glass
McKenna is a carthorse
Deyner has knock us back more than once so shouldn't get another chance

C) Elyouanossi
Johnstone isn't good enough and far to lightweight

D) Another or push frimpong up the field as he isn't a defender

E) o'Donnell is no where near good enough.
Frimpong isn't a defender
Soppy I don't know much about
Remember we have Elhamed, hopefully he can stay fit.

F) hopefully hold on to eddy and paired with griff. Have the polish bhoy as back up with one more brought in.

2.) 26 May 2020 21:39:08
A Forster b none c would love Fraser but we can't afford him and Johnston is good but has a lot of improving to do d play both or they will leave an dembele is the clubs future so needs atleast cup games E odonell is crap hence why we let him go soppy looks good but young and raw for ten in a row maybe bit part player and frimpong isn't a defender he's too small. F hold on to eddy at all costs and we have spent money on too many did strikers play who we have and if they don't show there worth punt them.

3.) 27 May 2020 01:13:50
The thought of signing McKenna makes me ill.

4.) 27 May 2020 08:28:38
I think Johnson will change a few minds next season. I seen him interviewed recently and noticed he has out on some muscle already during lock down so he has obviously been working on his strength. He has bags and bags of ability that boy and has already showed it at times.

Stay fit and be more consistent and gain strength is all he needs to do and he is a young winger. Consistency will come. I think he could be a big player for us next year.

23 May 2020 22:32:24
I hope we make reasonable offers for Jamie Hamilton, Arron Hickey, Lewis Smith and David Turnbull
We should then let them remain at there clubs for next season getting first team action.
If we were to let them develop until a first team place becomes available at Celtic Park.
I would insist on Hickey playing in midfield as a future replacemant for Brown we could loan Hearts Church for the season
Other reserve team players need to be loaned out also to improve there development.

jonace

1.) 23 May 2020 23:32:44
Why move him from LB he has potential to be as good as KT.

2.) 24 May 2020 07:56:44
The boy is a lb don't get this?

06 May 2020 15:06:08
My game I will never forget was at Tynecastle, in the middle 70s.
We were 3 nil down near the end of the first half when I think Andy Lynch scored, Big Jock got a hold of them at the interval and we came out a completly different team.
Ronnie Glavin was bundled ball and all into the net right on the final whistle to win 3-4. The winning goal was a thing of passion, desperation and most of all a real determination to win. Almost the whole Celtic team was in the box and all them tried to get on the end of the cross about 7 or 8 players ended up in the net. The Hearts keeper and some of there players with some tic players. Great game and a great comeback.

jonace

1.) 06 May 2020 16:18:27
That’s the Celtic way Jonace 👍.

2.) 06 May 2020 19:10:46
Was at that game Jonace; we were late arriving and were herded into the 'enclosure' queue by the Embra Polis beside the Gorgie lot. Getting away from there safe and sound felt almost as good as the amazing performance and result.

3.) 06 May 2020 21:49:18
At the game too. Polis took everything aff the fans even food and flasks of tea. Remember the long walk tae get there.
We almost left before the end as many did.
Celtic also done the same thing against St Johnstone at Muirton Park (4-3)
Loved going up to Perth we’d get fresh pies from the Christie’s factory on the way to the game.

20 Apr 2020 21:28:33
I know we all love to speculate at this time of year, and with nothing else to do here is my tuppence worth of transfer theorizing.
The squad is very strong and if no one left wouldn't need any additions.
Even if those players out of contract left only Fraser Foster would need an expensive replacement. { However I believe he will be here next season whenever that will be}
With the rumours about Brandon Soppy if true then i think that could mean Frimpong could be leaving at a great profit to us.
I would like to see us buy Hamilton and Lewis from Accies, Hickey from Hearts and Turnbull from Motherwell with all being loaned back for a year. Daniel Church could be loaned to Hearts with the proviso that Hickey plays in midfield he would make the perfect replacement for SB after he retires with his 10th championship in a row.
Also if there are doubts about Eyonoussi then weshould try to get Ryan Fraser on a free.

jonace

{Ed007's Note - Remember Man City are due 30% of any profit we make on Frimpong, Jon.}

1.) 20 Apr 2020 22:24:12
I still can't get ma head round that one ed.

2.) 21 Apr 2020 00:22:12
No ones paying big money for Frimpong yet. Lad has potential but hasn't done enough to warrant a big money move.

3.) 21 Apr 2020 09:19:12
Correct bigbubs
He's not done much his final product not there. He keeps going backwards or passing ball back and getting caught out position.
Few on here where getting carried away a we bit on how gd he ain't imo.
That position belongs to elhamed. When avail lols.
We need cover for this position and not just a bandaid.
I think it would be gd to know that Celtic are still training hard as our training pitch is huge the lads can turn up in there gear then drive home in it. I'm sure the Celtic coaches could still have us all training separated. No need to go to changing rooms etc. I was just wondering what was going on and what plans are in place to keep the lads super fit incase they start getting lazy.

4.) 21 Apr 2020 13:41:01
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but the lad had me out my seat more than most this year been a bit unlucky with injury but in my opinion a very promising and exciting prospect I'm looking forward to seeing more of.

5.) 21 Apr 2020 15:14:07
I must be watching the wrong frimpong he never once got me out my seat he started to become predictable.
What you talking about it's an opinion website talk about stating the obvious.

6.) 21 Apr 2020 16:45:19
You must see something different from me sitting in the house watching games whilst I sit in the stands watching of course it's an opinion website full of different opinions not just bowing down to yours.

7.) 21 Apr 2020 16:51:52
The boy played 14 league games this season scored 2 with 3 assists not bad for a right back in his 1st senior season of 1st team football.

8.) 21 Apr 2020 18:18:39
frimpon looks a good prospect but needs to grow abit is far too small he gets bullied imo I think soppy could be a great little signing if we get him as elhamed is made of glass might be what we're looking for . Would like us to sign hickey and cochrane from hearts will be cheap and good youn prospects and woul wait till January to see what Trumbull does he may never be the same player.

9.) 21 Apr 2020 19:16:56
I'm on it was the setups that we seen the best/ worst of frimpong stay safe.

10.) 21 Apr 2020 19:21:07
Would also sell kouassi as he's proven nothing the 2 American lads as they can't get a permit and I know a lot of you will not like this but rogic he's too much of a luxury player and I think Christie is miles better in the number 10 he is also more versatile and actually puts a shift in.

11.) 21 Apr 2020 19:42:46
Frank I love watching rogic play but he doesn't play often enough for me due to fitness and injury Christie would be one of the first names on my team sheet every week due to his workrate and commitment to the team and the bhoys a player.

12.) 21 Apr 2020 21:25:10
I agree he's a good player and can look awesome at times just not enough he's just a pure sicknote Christie and mcgregor are the heartbeat of the team we seen that when broony was injured the football was fast and fluid rogic didn't get a sniff he isn't needed would take 7 to 10 million for him but that's me hoping sum1 would pay that pmsl.

13.) 21 Apr 2020 22:20:27
Jaw you actually think you are s better fan because you go to the game a fan is a fan full stop not sure why you are judging people especially me what makes you think I don't go to Celtic games home and away. Do you also think you are a real Celtic fan because you go to the games. What about all the Celtic fans who can't physically go to to it can't afford a season ticket. And you call yourself a Celtic give me piece.

14.) 22 Apr 2020 07:31:41
Foster is vastly over rated, I just can't believe the adulation he gets.

15.) 22 Apr 2020 10:09:32
Forster has saved us countless times this season he's best we've had since the holy goalie and if we get him for less than ten mil is money well spent or would u prefer Gordon or Bain in goals? Maybe five teams boy hazar a try he's huge could be a cheap replacement.

16.) 22 Apr 2020 12:00:52
Nope Andy I don't think I'm more / better Celtic fan than anyone I simply don't like the way you dismiss other people's opinions if they don't match yours. You have clearly written the bhoy off saying he's done nothing and always goes backwards this is what makes me believe you don't go to many games as I sit directly in line with the 18yard line at the Celtic end only 4 rows up so I see very closely our attacking players in that side and don't see what you are seeing.

17.) 22 Apr 2020 12:16:56
I would just like to put on record that in no way do I believe that I or anyone else who attends game's has more/ less love for the club than anyone who can't attend for any reason. However I am entitled to my opinion and will enter into discussion with anyone whether their view is similar or the polar opposite. All I'm looking for is the respect of each others opinions as we are all entitled to them.

18.) 22 Apr 2020 14:49:10
One of the reasons why Celtic can go on long winning runs is that Lennon and his assistants have all the first team players trained completely in not taking risks with the ball in dangerous positions . If either full back or wing decides to take on his man he must beat him or he will be in serious trouble . Our team is rarely set up so that full back or wing back is covered if he loses ball, so if he wants to keep his place he will often pass. It’s better we keep procession and use the ball more excitingly further up pitch .
Our play may mean less jumping out of seat for some, but I prefer my thrills closer to opponents goals with at least 4 / 5 of our players behind the ball protecting our goals.

The most pleasing thing about NL this season has been his tactical awareness. I wonder how much has been down to JK and DD in the backroom team.
Let me be clear I still think NL is in charge but maybe listening to better advice than in previous spells as a manager.
Therefore the loss of Jk could have a detrimental effecton our season.

I agree with most; replacing the two full backs and Awesome but bringing in Ntcham is questionable. He does not tackle and never plays well away from Celtic Park. If you want to play him bring in Bitton and play him at 10. This would allow us to rest Christie and Macgregor. Having a strong bench would let us make changes depending on the way the game was going.

I hope Turnbull still signs. If he dosn't then it is down to the agent not the club. This could make clear to other players and agents that the club is bigger than anyone person.
The agent concerned may find that other players will think twice before joinng him as Celtic are clearly saying we will not be messed about; take it or leave it.

I have seen reports that Wilmots and Cocu are available both would be excellent choices.

I don, t think any of these players are any good definately not any better than Ralston or Hendry. If we want good young defenders then look to Mexico and the RB and CB playing for Club America. Edison Alvarez and Jorge Sanchez together they would cost £10 million hopefully for the full package and bringing them over together would definately help them settle in at celtic park and allow us to get the best out of them.

You cannot make a fair comparison with over 120yrs to choose from.
Who can honestly say that players from yester-year were better or worse than those of today.
With different tactics, equipment, training and video anlyasis would some have been better or poorerin todays game. Likewise how would some of todays playershave coped with the tackles and rough house treatment dished out in the past.
You can probably break it down best teams of the decade or maybe 20yr cycles but anything else is futile.

Too many players are constantly unavailable due to injury we should off load these and replace them with players who would be there for the team every week.

We have lost 4 games this season and with the draw on Wednesday all these defeats have came against teams with a strong rough centre forward. Add a tall rough defence / midfield staying deep in there half attacking on the break.

We need a different tactics when playing these teams. Also different players recruited to give us options.

A tall strong battling CF {Sutton/ Hartson} like and central defenders {Balde} who are prepared to smash through their attackers Maybe even a Wanwamya like midfielder.

Sometime winning is the important thing and not how we play.

No one thought Hendry Allen or Morgan were exceptional talent.
