I think with the business model we are using to buy young and develop to sell on for a profit we should be giving these players longer contracts to protect the investment and make as much from them as possible 2 years down the line OE could be our top striker banging the goals in and with only 2 years left on his contract weakens our position at the negotiating table.

Yes very good I'm just trying to be realistic when a team from one of the bigger leagues comes calling and they most likely will an extra year or two would give Celtic a stronger hand Not trying to put a downer on him signing or anything it's just one thing that irks me when it comes to contracts when we all know these guys come in and sold on same as sell on clauses we should try for larger sell on clauses but anyway Welcome to Celtic OE.

Rabmac , I notice a lot of posters who talk about strikers who could score freely in the Spl but probably couldn't in Europe . This puzzles me , are the goals smaller in Europe? . I am of the opinion that if the team's creates as good chances in Europe as in the Spl the striker could score just as readily . Is it not the fact that the team struggles to create the openings is the reason a striker struggles to score .
Furthermore many Spl teams play 8/9 men defence home and away when playing us .This makes it hard for strikers to score , we haven't had Griffiths playing in the form he has been in recently playing much in Europe , we cannot judge how effect he could be in Europe .

Watched him when he was on loan at Swindon when they made play offs. He strolled league 1 not sure ready for champions league. But would easily be spl standard.

To be fair the reason Abada played there is because he can play anywhere across the front line as he proved. I personally have no problems with Abada filling in as a spare striker when needed.

This is why young guys will never make it at celtic. Coz they don't get enough game time and the little chance they do get fans are straight on the backs. Give the guy a decent chance he is 22 and still learning the game at this level. Do people expect him to be as good as Édouard after half dozen sub appearances.
