Looks like Elhamed is pulling a 'Boyata' on Beer Sheva. It's a no from me.

1.) 11 Jul 2019 20:20:23
Hendry is better, waste of money this one.

2.) 11 Jul 2019 23:58:08
Jack Hendry?

3.) 12 Jul 2019 07:07:16
Better off with Stephen hendry!

4.) 12 Jul 2019 08:07:44
Turner how many times have you seen this guy to come out with a statement like That?

5.) 12 Jul 2019 10:27:57
He looks decent on YouTube but so can anyone. I'm sure he'll only be to cover both CB/ RB if signed.

6.) 12 Jul 2019 11:16:54
I don't remember him if he played against us but do remember beer sheva giving us a going over but we still qualified. Looked like a team that could be playing champions league.

03 Jul 2019 17:10:47
Mbombo has arrived in Glasgow.

1.) 03 Jul 2019 22:32:33
That’s him signed up,4 year deal! Looks fast and powerful down that left what I’ve seen of him! Should be a good addition. now for a right back 👍🏼👍🏼.

2.) 03 Jul 2019 22:45:38
Just signed a 4 year deal. Celtic have officially announced it now.

18 Jun 2019 13:46:35
FK Sarajevo.

1.) 18 Jun 2019 14:09:28
Hardest tie wee could have got.

2.) 18 Jun 2019 15:02:04
Do we drop into the wuffy cup if we get papped out of the CL in the 1st round?
Asking for a friend.

3.) 18 Jun 2019 15:10:09
Yes if we loose than we are going for europa league second qualyfing round draw.

4.) 18 Jun 2019 15:52:26
I thought the first two rounds if u lose you don’t even get a bite at the europa?

5.) 18 Jun 2019 16:57:24
If we lose (which I don’t think we will) we gat a bye in the next round of Europa League qualifier and enter in the third round due to there being an odd number of teams.

6.) 19 Jun 2019 00:57:09
Duff and phelps from this season all domestic champions drop into europa league following elimination from c/ l qualifiers.

A wee squad review - Stronger or Weaker

Goalkeeper - Stronger

Forster in for De Vries undoubtedly makes us stronger.

Rightback - Stronger

Elhamed and Bauer in for an ageing/ slowing Lustig and Gamboa makes us stronger.

Leftback - Stronger (bare with me)

Bolingoli and Taylor in for Tierney and Izaguirre I believe makes us stronger as a squad, no doubt our first 11 is weaker without Tierney though.

Centreback - Weaker

Jullien and Elhamed in for Boyata and Benkovic I thing makes us marginally weaker. The form of Ajer will fill the void but I think we could have done with 1 more body at CB.

Midfield - Stronger

Stronger because we will have Christie firing all season rather than coming in at the tail end like last year. Hopefully a less sulky Ntcham and a fit Rogic.

Wingers - Stronger

The signing of Elyounoussi could be inspired along with the emergence of Johnston and the potential of Shved added to the reliable Forrest makes us stronger, Sinclair was on the slide last season but I'd love him to find his way back to some regular minutes.

Striker - Stronger

Eddy has gone to another level. Griffiths is back in the picture and Bayo has shown promise.

Overall we are certainly stronger as a squad for this season.

1.) 04 Sep 2019 20:15:56
Aarbee I have to disagree when you say we are weaker defensively, Sunday was the best and most solid defensive display I've seen by us since the days of Mjallby, Balde and Valgaaren. With Ajer still to come in I would definitely say we are stronger in that department.

2.) 04 Sep 2019 20:20:02
I'm very happy we brought in Forster as I thought Bain was losing too many soft goals and Gordon has seen his best days long ago.
After Sunday, I actually see Jullien becoming an automatic pick and was really impressed with his attitude, leadership and timing.
I remember Boyata having a few shockers against them, Benkovic was good but was often injured; so with Ajer, Simunovic and El-Hamed (as back-up) I think we are at least even in that department.
The full-backs are better covered as you say, while in midfield - it's a question of who the heck do you leave out? We are blessed!
Up front - Eddy is twice the player, from when he arrived and with Griff and Bayo back to fitness, plus the versatile Elyannoussi, I agree we are a much stronger and more versatile team/ squad.

3.) 04 Sep 2019 20:59:47
To be fair
If we shell out £7mill for a defender I would expect him to be a first pick, but I agree oab, price tag regardless you best, most consistent player should be a first pick and julien certainly looks as if he’s going to make the position his own.

Do you reckon Ajer could be a longer term replacement for broony?

4.) 04 Sep 2019 21:10:15
Nah losing KT is massive can't mask it👍🍀.

5.) 04 Sep 2019 21:38:29
We won't miss KT👍.

6.) 04 Sep 2019 22:25:50
Once big Jullien and Ajer settle in together at CB we will be solid.
Jozo and Bitton as back ups.

7.) 04 Sep 2019 22:35:07
How exactly is Centre back weaker?
Boyata is a bomb scare who could pass 10 yards and benkovic play 20 games several under 90 minutes and couldn't stay fit.
Also we brought in jullian elhamed and the young guy fae man Utd that can all play Cb.

8.) 05 Sep 2019 08:41:24
The young guy from Man Utd looks a right good player. I was surprised to read that he is a CB though, everything i've seen of him is at LB and he reminds me of Tierney. He is quick, loves a tackle and looks very good both defensively and attacking.

9.) 05 Sep 2019 08:15:13
Oab there's no chance ajer is back up. He's hands down our best defender, him and jullien will be first choice.

10.) 05 Sep 2019 09:41:12
I would say as a squad we are def stronger as we can play so many formations now we can change it through games so we can keep the opposition guessing as to which formation we are using and break down packed defences much easier than we did before. But overall I think we are a much more solid team and have great options on the bench too.

11.) 05 Sep 2019 11:53:38
I think Ajer has got all the attributes and passion to fill the void that brown will leave. If i'm not mistaken, was he not a defensive midfielder before being put into defence at Kilmarnock on loan. the only problem I can see is us not being able to hold on to him as his stock is rising all the time.

29 Aug 2019 16:58:08
Good team selection but I hope we are not playing 2 wingers and a No10 away from home in Europe? Hopefully McGregor, Brown and Christie play as a 3.

29 Aug 2019 13:14:51
Omrani. not for me.

New image uploaded to the
Celtic Player Sightings page entitled, 4-1-4-1 for me on Thursday. Get a measure of control in the game that was badly missing v Cluj.

1.) 21 Aug 2019 10:33:46
If we went with that team against Cluj (you also picked) we would have played Slavia last night.

2.) 21 Aug 2019 10:52:09
Play our usual 4231 system with players in the correct position, we have to score but mustn't concede. This tinkering with formations has to stop. We should have a settled formation in the way we play.
Of course depending on the way the game is going the manager should have the tactical awareness to change the formation at any point during the game.
Team selection is vital here as it allows the manager to change the shape without having to make a substitution. With the correct personnel this allows us to change to a back 3 in a 352, 3412 even a 442, 4141, 4411 or 433. The beauty of the 4231 with the correct personnel is the possiblities are endless in terms of adapting your tactics to allow for all avenues of game management. This is why my team would be

Gordon
El Hamed Ajer Jozo Boli
Bitton Mcgregor
Forest Christie Sinclair

Griffiths

This allows Sinclair to partner Griffiths up top, Boli to move to the LWB role and El Hamed to move in to form a back 3 if we are behind and needing a goal. We have to press high up the pitch and not sit back and allow them possession and time on the ball. I have chosen Griffiths over Edouard due his ability from set pieces. You could also take your pick between Jullian and Jozo but I prefer Jozo as him and Ajer will have a better understanding in what is a massive game. I have selected Bitton over Brown as I think Bitton has the legs over Brown.
As the game develops and moves into the latter stages a common sense approach with regards to subs has to be applied. Bring on an extra defender to shut up shop or an extra attacker to force our way back into the tie. N. B the Lewis Morgan rule of thumb does not apply in any of the situations😆.

14 Aug 2019 09:42:11
Dropping McGregor for Ntcham, which is effectively what Lennon did, is, in my opinion. unforgivable.

1.) 14 Aug 2019 10:27:25
After that shambles last night, it is so clear we need a new GK and a competent LB at the very least, so why wasn't it addressed earlier in the window?
And how can we get the message to PL and the board this has gone on long enough and won't be accepted any more? Not turn up? Maybe not turn up to the EL qualifier? Any suggestions? As i for one am sick of the same story every season and nothing being done.

2.) 14 Aug 2019 10:33:59
No problem with him playing ntcham. It wasn't working and at half time should have hooked Johnston for Bolingoli and moved mcgregor into midfield.

3.) 14 Aug 2019 11:50:33
Absolutely Ntcham should have played.

4.) 14 Aug 2019 13:36:29
Ntcham should not have played.

If he is playing you have to drop Christie because ntcham should be a number 10.
He's no use as a deep lying mid.

5.) 14 Aug 2019 16:18:13
I would gave played Ntcham, McGregor and Brown in a 3 with Christie, Edouard and Forrest up front. Christie would have offered some help to Bolingoli on the left. We never gave Cluj enough respect, I said it before the first game, that lack of respect is why we are out.

6.) 16 Aug 2019 10:20:04
If he wanted Ntcham on the park that much he should have played him at LB. Just as crazy playing CM there.

Lennon won't win us the league been to the dance floor to many times. I know how this is ending.

I'm working on the assumption that another RB will come in as opposed to another CB.

Painful.
Ajer RB
Bitton CB
Morgan ahead of Sinclair.
Ouch.

It appears so. Loads of money to spend but I'm guessing our wage bill remains fairly high.
