I quite like horse racing and like a wee bet. but I shook my heard when the grand national racing fraternity team (including jockeys) told us how horses are given 5star lives and treated like royalty. they tried to justify deaths, injuries to horses in the sport are comparable to same in boxing, rugby and skiing I completely disagree. Boxers rugby players etc have the choices of facing injuries and deaths. i've yet to hear of a horse that has been given this option.

I mentioned beforehand that to me the grand national can be cruel to horses (as well as punters) but can retain its position in sporting greatness if it takes appropriate measures to reduce things like shortening the distance and reducing the number of obstacles. no doubt this will fall on deaf ears, as the defenders of racing would say it would be detrimental to racing.

Maybe when horse dies, the jockey should also die, similarly if horse has to be put down because of injuries, jockey should also be put down .
This would drastically reduce size of field and reduce the carnage.

Trainers also CC HH.

3.) 18 Apr 2023 07:58:37
Horses don't fall and break legs in stables so they can shove all that "how well the horses are treated, " garbage.

In my opinion, there are too many horses.
Reduce the number of horses. (25 would be my figure)

4.) 18 Apr 2023 20:39:36
I don’t gamble but I often see big fields in races with numerous horses from the one stable . I really think that shouldn’t be allowed as they could easily dictate pace of race .
What do our top gamblers think?

I can see that Maeda splits opinions. i've said it here before and I repeat it now. he's a great worker whom I love, but in hindsight he don't haf muff chances. what the boy needs is a hat-trick or so to get the juices flowing. On the other hand Angie sees the effort and sweat he goes through, so obviously admires him, and what he brings to the team.

When he came on against shaktar his work rate and effort going forwards and tracking back cancelled the threat of mudryk who was running the show for them . is that not as good as a goal or assist? . but yes he's not been as clinical as he possibly could be.

I think we need to accept that finishing is not his strongest asset, but the rest of his game is fantastic and it fits into Anges style. He will rip up some teams this season, at home and in Europe and his play will open the play for others to score. We need to let him develop and see were he takes us.

4.) 18 Sep 2022 11:12:51
100% agree boys HH.

Its time to put the cat amongst the budgies. what exactly are the expectations and desires of Celtic fans? are we happy to win trebles or doubles in Scotland? are we happy to qualify for cl football and be triumphant if we finish 3rd in a group? for the past few years it sickens me when diddy teams from outer Mongolia or such, come to glasgow and out-play us on our own patch. where or when did it all go wrong? In the hierarchy of Celtic fc where is the desire the vision to re-visit past glories? sadly in my humble opinion the present day supporters seem to be completely happy if Celtic put one or two over satan's disciples in the course of a season.

Scottish Football will continue to struggle due to the difference in finances, with TV deals from other European countries.
We are playing with one hand tied firmly behind our backs.
I can remember Scottish clubs used to hammer the Scandinavian clubs but now they receive double the money we receive.
Also Scottish Football, only gets a fraction of what the big European countries get.
Another Quadruple Treble will do in the meantime ?.

2.) 13 Aug 2022 07:34:02
We are where we are, buzz is bang on its all about the finances, sure we should be beating teams like Copenhagen and ferenzvaros but these games home early and apart from this season we're usually ill prepared, Al take a treble and finishing 3rd in cl group all day and a decent run in the europa, apart from ajax the other year getting to a cl semi when was the last time the cl was won outside the top 5 countries.

3.) 13 Aug 2022 09:23:47
There have been 13 winners of the CL from clubs outside the 'big five' leagues. 12 of these came before the year 2000. Porto in 2004 are the most recent team to do it.

4.) 13 Aug 2022 09:51:19
With what is likely to be accepted from Sly, why can’t we do what Sevco did with Cinch and opt out and do our own thing. Precedent has been set, if the rest won’t fight fora better deal, **** em.

5.) 13 Aug 2022 10:33:40
We’re going to win the lot champions league Glasgow cup everything in ange we trust ???.

6.) 13 Aug 2022 13:22:07
18 years since the cl left the big 5,its a closed shop, the Glasgow clubs are huge like ajax psv Porto benfica thw turns but the finance beats them, efa are a disgrace the way they've made it a closed shop.

{Ed007's Note - It isn't all UEFA's fault, the Big 5 leagues basically bully and threaten UEFA until they get their own way, remember UEFA is made up of the national FAs.}

7.) 13 Aug 2022 14:00:49
37 years since the Scottish league has left Glasgow though so I suppose we can't have it both ways.
I wonder what will happen first, a team outside of Glasgow winning the league or a team outside the big 5 winning the CL. Neither look like happening any time soon.

Who has the final say when new shirts are picked? does the manufacturer present a selection and let the club choose. and is there any person or persons who decides? I think as a one-off Celtic could invite fans to submit ideas and if one is picked, the money raised by its sales could go to charities. It would I'm sure be good pr for Celtic fc.

The bew strips imo look great this year 3rd ones a belter.

2.) 04 Aug 2022 10:35:47
I like all 3 kits this season as well Mally but I do agree Adidas are probably missing a trick. It's clear when you look on social media or forums that fans would love a Lisbon-style home kit and a black and gold away kit. They'd make an absolute fortune.hh

3.) 04 Aug 2022 12:26:05
Worked alongside a guy few years back he was part of a forum ( don't know how many ) they were asked for their input into new tops don't know about nowadays HH.

4.) 04 Aug 2022 12:43:41
Black and gold was my favourite to be honest.

5.) 04 Aug 2022 15:20:56
If it’s not green and white hoops it’s not CELTIC.

02 Aug 2022 00:30:03
What are the Celtic supporters 5 favourite goals? if there were a poll it would be interesting to see the outcome my own? Tommy Gs equaliser in Lisbon Henriks chip v them when Malcolm didn't know what planet he was on big Billy's header v Dunfermline big Billy's header v vodjidina and a special goal for me was a game v Hibs when jinky and Murdoch interpassed for about 80 yards before the wee man squaredthe ball to BM who almost uprooted the net from the edge of the penalty area.

The gael that’s a tough one as there have been so many in my lifetime. Mikael
Lustig’s solo at Ibrox, Naka vMan Utd, Tom Rogic vAberdeen (final) and any one of the seven 1957 League Cup v Rangers.

2.) 02 Aug 2022 08:46:08
The Gael just realised that I only named four, I forgot Dixie’s goal v Hibs cup final.

3.) 02 Aug 2022 08:46:08
Naka v killie to win the league for me.

4.) 02 Aug 2022 09:51:58
As OK says it’s difficult as there has been so many.
However, for a goal that epitomises the Celtic way of playing, I would have to include Dembele’s ‘whole team’ goal against StJohnstone a few seasons back.
Then there is the ‘defining’ goals. Big Billy’s winner against Dunfermline in the cup final set Stein’s Celtic on the way, so that’s in. Similarly Kyogo winner against Hibs in last years final, as well as being a sublime goal, set Ange’s team on the way and who knows where that will end up. Lamberts pile driver against Rangers effectively stopped the ten, so that’s a favourite. However the best was TG’s shimmy and pass to Bobby on the edge of the box, Bobby’s cross come shot and Stevie side footed best goal ever that gave birth to a Pride of Lions.
Those would be my top five, but whilst the last one will always be my banker, I could come up with another four tomorrow.
?.

5.) 02 Aug 2022 10:03:58
Good question The gael,
The Dembele goal away to St. Johnstone was special.
Every Celtic player got a touch of the ball and it got goal of the season.
The Rogic Proper Invincible goal against Aberdeen.
The Larsson chip in the 6-2 match.
Murdo’s screamer which helped “10 men win the league”
Chris Sutton with the last kick of the game which secured a “whitewash” against the old Ibrox club.

6.) 02 Aug 2022 10:07:37
I loved your reply HarryHoodini. ?.

Thanks Buzz, I appreciate that, especially from an ace poster like yourself.

8.) 02 Aug 2022 23:47:05
I had to watch it on tape but the goal in 86 (I think) where it starts of with mcgrain and ends up with Johnston scoring is a cracker!

John hartson’s goal at anfield was unreal given we had 15mins of celebrating in the stands because we had pretty much won the tie.

Larsson’s against that mob (6-2) will take some beating ??.

9.) 02 Aug 2022 23:57:31
Buzz Bomb I thank you for including Chris Sutton's goal. i had Celtic to win Celtic to win 1-0 Sutton to be 1st scorer. brings back happy memories!

I'm smiling when I take in some of the aforementioned comments. i won't reveal my age, but when I first saw Celtic, it was in the era of CP Tully, Bobby Evans, Bertie Peacock and Neilly Mochan. Over the years I've been privileged to witness some great, and some not so great teams! What I'm really trying to say is that while it would be great to think that success would be continuous, it is not a given. Enjoy the meanwhile, and remember, in my very humble opinion, WE ARE THE (rightful) PEOPLE?

In all the hysteria regarding Ange. have we missed his obvious successor should he leave? It has to be Fran Alonsa! imagine the press interviews and the fashion statements from the technical areas. let the future look after itself, and retain a small sense of humour. As a Celtic supporter of many decades, can I confidently say that the present team is not a patch on several teams during the last 60 years. Due mainly to the steadly decline of the urban teams who used to give us and them much harder games that they do today.

Ed, I have to take you to task for even remotely suggesting that next year your youth has forever vanished. have you never heard of the swinging 60s,70sand 80s? Only then when you reach that milestone, will you recognise that a good hot water bottle is your best friend on a winter's night. Late greetings for your birthday, enjoy.

Buzz agree 100%! didn't it make you feel fantastic that the youngsters made their feelings about Celtic loud and very clear with support, joy and terrific attire. just a shade jealous that I'm not a few decades younger and being able to join them. Following Celtic looks mighty healthy for a few years yet.

To me, Hatate wasn't on song. As an admirer, wondered why Abada wasn't called upon. The second half reminded me of the Tommy Burns era, when Celtic had a lot of pressure, but no return for it. For once for a little while in the half, the ball was on the other foot. to me, it may not seem immediately, but I've a feelingtodays result could be very significant.
