Is that right we have signed turnbull?

I wonder with the club going public on the offer that was given to turnbull if maybe a similar thing happened with Mcginn, it was Mcginns choice not to sign just like turnbull and at the start of the turnbull transfer when it went sour people were comparing it to mcginns transfer perhaps the club this time took a opportunity to show that the transfer offer and contract is good but it's down to the player. I wonder if maybe both transfers were the exact same just one private and one public. But this time with the club telling us what happened they wouldn't get criticised as before.
Just a thought anyway.

The club were correct to walk away from the Turnbull and McGinn transfers.

2.) 19 Jun 2019 10:31:21
Totally agree just thinking this time instead of getting all the flak they’ve thrown it back on the player maybe just to show us fans what is actually happening, no one should be guaranteed first team football, that’s a privilege to earn with hard work. Once your there then it’s yours to lose.

3.) 19 Jun 2019 10:40:34
Steve you are not allowed to say it was mcginns choice to chose not to sign for Celtic.

Didn't you know it's always lawwells fault?

4.) 19 Jun 2019 13:06:54
Zzzzzz.

Just read Marcelo Bielsa Wikipedia page, didn't know much about him but what a character, seems to have a lot of respect from players and managers, looks like he really thinks outside the box. Looking at his club record he doesn't seem to hang around for very long, and with two clubs it was arguments with the club over backing for new players so I wonder if this would have a effect on us getting him. Reading it though he literally lives breaths and sleeps football. Ed do you think we would have any chance?

Stevebhoy1981

{Ed007's Note - I don't see why not if he leaves Leeds.}

1.) 16 May 2019 11:23:07
Watched that game last night and Leeds were certainly a fast-paced attacking side - and I think we have better players in most areas.
Maybe caught out defensively a bit too much - but as long as we score more than the opposition - right?

2.) 16 May 2019 11:45:33
Sorry ED007 Bielsa? I just cannot see what you see in him as a manager, last night his tactics were woeful and defensively Leeds were a shambles.
Then take into account his poor grasp of English and his even poorer knowledge of Celtic and Scottish football and his age 59/ 60 It is a big NO from this Tim.

3.) 16 May 2019 12:20:25
Timalloy, he comes across as a manager that lives and breathes football, very well respected and many of his ideas are used by people who wish to follow his advice.

I agree he doesn't tick many boxes for me but he has done ok with Leeds, getting a play off place in the championship. His record before, runner up to Uefa cup in 2011 with Bilbao, winning leagues in Argentina shows he can do well with teams. Bilbao in 2011/ 12 played Man U off the park, can remember watching the passing and movement this was before Man U were s**t.

4.) 16 May 2019 12:21:10
Tim why do you think knowledge of the league and club is necessary?

Don’t you think that would leave us with a very small pool of candidates most of which will be poorer coaches than the likes of Bielsa, Bilic, Ranieri etc.?

5.) 16 May 2019 12:55:33
I don't think Win Jansen had knowledge of league or vast knowledge club when he stopped them getting 10iar.

Any manager with a good reputation and experience will do their homework on any team before they take the reigns. I honestly believe though the board has made their decision and are holding out till after Cup Final.

6.) 16 May 2019 13:18:51
Don't think the knowledge of the league or the club, is that important, but being able to converse easily in English is.

7.) 16 May 2019 14:02:58
Before he took the Leeds jobs he watched every single one of their games from the previous season. So I'm sure he would do the same with us. Would love him to get the job but won't be holding my breath.

8.) 16 May 2019 14:36:01
I would suggest 2 reasons he won't come to us
1) Leeds fans love him and want him to stay.
2) £3.7 million a year.

Leeds can push the boat out to chase EPL 100million+ we are chasing cl qualification for 20 million+.

9.) 16 May 2019 16:26:25
Jim1972 I agree and to add to that when Leeds eventually get back up, I will be surprised if they drop down leagues again or for a good few seasons.

10.) 16 May 2019 16:38:48
Can Leeds push the boat out? When I watched the game last night they made a point of saying he hardly spent any money this season .

Anybody have a stream for the reserves today?

A question for Ed or anyone in the know, will Rodgers still get some sort of league medal and cup medal when we win both? I know players have to play a certain amount of games and still get a medal if there team wins a league even if they've moved on do managers have something like that? I'm assuming I'm correct in that also.

Stevebhoy1981

{Ed007's Note - Yeah Rodgers will get medals.}

1.) 03 Mar 2019 10:40:17
Like it or not he deserves them.

2.) 03 Mar 2019 13:07:08
He certainly does deserve them
And the 7 medals before
Not impresses by the exit
But loved his time here.

3.) 03 Mar 2019 13:54:15
So In a round about way he would of done the treble treble.

Haha Ok looks like I’ve been told there! Point I was trying to make anyway is they don’t have loyalty to us and don’t buy into it so we are a stepping stone club for these type of players. But Virgil and Wanyama were consistent and showed they were better than the league, Ntcham has the look of a player who had just given up.

lawman I agree, when you think of big Virgil, Wanyama who clearly stood out as too good for the league and they didn’t say anything just got on with it, you could understand they might want to try something new but Ntcham as much as he is good hasn’t shown anything of consistency to say he is above the level, thing with some players mostly the foreign ones you hope they buy into Celtic and love the club like Lustig did, but I think some see it as a stepping stone so have no real loyalty and think they can say whatever to get the big move. I’d let him go for the right price and if that wasn’t met then not play him until he is desperately needed, and play a hungrier player who really wants to be at the club.

Stevebhoy1981

{Ed007's Note - The same VVD that said:

"If the correct amount is placed on the table, then they will really think about it, yes. If Celtic want to earn money from me, the club must act now. There has been interest every summer and winter, especially from the Premier League. I stood there open to it, but Celtic decided not to sell me at that time. Yes, I was very disappointed with that.
Will this be the summer of Virgil van Dijk getting a transfer? I hope so. It’s about time. It is time for a new challenge.
This year I’ll turn 24 and I need something new. More pressure, better opponents. Especially when you think of the European Championships next year. I want to be in the team in France."

I think if we got a foreign coach in like rose from Salzburg
We would just be a stepppng stone for him and would leave after 2-3 seasons, domestically I don’t think it matters who’s in charge as I think squad wise we are by far the strongest and should always stay like that. I like the idea of a foreign coach who could bring a new approach
But with Lennon we know what we’ve got, plus now he’s been away will he be so keen to move on again, it’s a tough choice and there’s pros and cons. For me keep Lennon, no matter what happens because we’ve won a double double maybe a treble treble it’s going to be hard for any manager taking over eventually we won’t win everything and that will be considered by some a bad season.
