Don't know wither to laugh or cry, it seems that the all the tabloids and web sites have all these players linked to Celtic and high on Lennon's transfer list. If that's the case, why are we not going out of our way to make sure we get them.

Scoop2500

1.) 12 Jul 2019 08:40:40
Uve answered your own question really! The tabloids are full of rubbish and shouldn’t be listened to when it comes to our transfer business! Surely u must know by now they’ll make up anything if it means we look bad! Stop reading the tabloids!

2.) 12 Jul 2019 08:50:43
Just because the papers are saying it doesn't mean it's true. It takes time to get the right players in.

3.) 12 Jul 2019 10:05:11
Ditch all this interest in players based in England. They want money well in excess of ability due to the vast amounts of money. It’s a waste of time. We need to be looking at markets where £4-5m gets you a player. England is not the answer. Unless the answer we want us paying an inflated price and wages for a player who isn’t that good. It also diverts us and takes too long to finally be outbid by rubbish teams. We still don’t have the players we need and important games are played with glaring weaknesses in our defence.

The penny needs to drop that England is a waste of time and money.

4.) 12 Jul 2019 10:19:05
We are looking to get quality in. Teams don't generally want to sell there best players so we just have to wait. I for one would rather stick with what we have than have an over inflated squad of average players.

5.) 12 Jul 2019 11:35:32
I've been thinking the same thing magicpole, we should be looking in the Dutch, polish, Ukraine, type markets much better value to be had than down south. I honestly don't know why we keep looking in that market. are these Lennon's recommendations or are we still going for players scouted by Congerton?

6.) 12 Jul 2019 12:01:47
Probably scouting budget is pish so it's easier to keep an eye on players down south, but your right we should be targeting eastern European leagues, even south America, get them in and give them a sell on clause as we know if they become any good the club's from EPL will come sniffing.

7.) 12 Jul 2019 13:33:09
100% agree to avoid the English market for the most part. Surprised we aren't looking further east still. Surely a player or two in Japan or South Korea etc.
A whole world of hidden gems but were too busy looking down the road .

8.) 12 Jul 2019 13:55:33
Again where is this nonsense we are only scouting England coming from.
We have made 3 signings so far and only 1 has came from england.
Our last permanent signing from england before that was ntcham and he had spent the 2 seasons before that in Italy.

We should be targeting eastern Europe?

You mean like Ukraine where we got Shevd?
What about east central Europe like Austria where we got Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo?
Or Slovakia where we got Bayo?

Ye seems like pish scouting budget that only looks at England.

9.) 12 Jul 2019 18:41:56
Tend to agree, stick to Europe and forget down south.
Wouldn't sign anyone likely to disappear during the season to play in African nations cup etc.
Since being linked with Castagne, everyone seems inferior now, but there will be a gem out there.

10.) 13 Jul 2019 10:45:03
I'd say in terms of percentages. The players we have got from England have been very good. Struggling to think of a failure from England in the last 10 years. I'm sure there is 1 or 2 but when we go abroad there is much more risk of it not working out.

29 Aug 2018 19:43:54
Clyde 1 just reporting news out of France dembele to Lyon for 22 million pounds.

Scoop2500

1.) 29 Aug 2018 19:57:10
Dembele house up to rent, he’s off, maybe get in touch with Hibs and unsettle Efe.

2.) 29 Aug 2018 20:42:01
Unsettle Effe because we sell Dembelle? What are we going to play him upfront?

3.) 29 Aug 2018 20:50:09
Fs johnbhoy 😂 Wooosh.

4.) 29 Aug 2018 21:11:15
That’s the sort of level Celtic are going for at the moment, rather than some quality, full back, centre back and now centre forward, plenty of quality out there, Efe would run through a brick wall for the club anyhow.

5.) 29 Aug 2018 22:35:07
Big dion dublin made a cracking centre back sure efe can step up with Rodgers talents at developing players.

6.) 29 Aug 2018 23:47:18
At least big Efe will have a decent goal celebration playing up front every week.

08 Aug 2018 12:29:55
Caulker could be on the move. i was hoping it could have been to us Brendan seemed to like the lad. sly sports saying the Australian boy 2 year loan deal.

Scoop2500

1.) 08 Aug 2018 13:51:03
Would a accept that if. B b boyota is then sold for £12m with McGinn on a fast jet.

2.) 08 Aug 2018 14:20:14
Looks like McGinn to Villa is all but done. Could be a turning point both the board and BR. Either going to splash the cash or can see BR heading off to the Man Utd job in December when JM leaves.

3.) 08 Aug 2018 14:36:07
Teflon67 just won the mental post of the day
Rogers to man Utd 😂😂😂.

4.) 08 Aug 2018 14:51:06
Kev83, im telling you mate its going to happen. Hahaha .

5.) 08 Aug 2018 16:45:10
Caller is getting looked at for a 1.6 million bid by Leeds.

6.) 08 Aug 2018 16:46:14
You think Jose will last that long Teflon 😆.

31 Jan 2019 07:59:14
So it looks like another piss poor transfer window without getting in what we actually need a cb and a rb. didn't Rodgers say our team would be a lot better for when valencia came calling.

Scoop2500

1.) 31 Jan 2019 09:43:15
We are better already.

2.) 31 Jan 2019 09:43:26
We will get a rb.

3.) 31 Jan 2019 10:21:29
I'd say we're stronger and we've not even seen bayo.

4.) 31 Jan 2019 11:03:33
As an auld bhoy that saw some really hard and lean times in the early 60's, mid 70's, 80's and 90's and long periods of no European football; entering tournaments like the Texaco Cup and Anglo-Scottish Cup:- this is one of the best periods of success and good football we have seen - and it's still continuing.
There will always be positions we shoulda/ coulda strengthened, but the players we currently have are not really doing such a bad job - are they really? and our attacking players are a joy to watch.
'Always look on the bright side' fellow Tims.

5.) 31 Jan 2019 12:56:26
Away and boil yer heid if you think this was a poor transfer window for us.

May I suggest the problem is your expectations and in future you would enjoy things more if you were to temper them with a touch of realism.

6.) 31 Jan 2019 12:58:09
Couldn’t agree more OAB. Going by some of the comments I’ve seen, if some of the our younger fans had been around in previous era’s, I doubt they’d even follow the club.

7.) 31 Jan 2019 14:03:42
Well we've brought in potentially an excellent striker we've strengthened the wide areas we've bought a winger for next year which will balance out losing the 2 loans so for me it's been ok. we've come out it stronger as long as we don't lose anyone between now and 11 tonight. but would like a rb signed before midnight.

8.) 31 Jan 2019 22:53:29
we might get a right back but will he be any better than what we have.

14 Aug 2018 20:20:55
Penny pinching has cost us more than what Brendan probably wanted to spend. the defence is shocking.2-0 down.

Scoop2500

1.) 14 Aug 2018 20:36:42
It’s not just the defence. We aren’t a champions league team.

2.) 14 Aug 2018 21:15:32
This is the result of 15 years of downsizing.

3.) 14 Aug 2018 21:56:34
Viking Tim, we need to step up in SPL never mind CL.

30 Jul 2018 10:12:38
If we want players from England Brendan needs to get his finger out as the transfer window closes on the 9th August. i fear this window will be poor I hope I am wrong. there seems to be mixed messages coming out about transfers. Hail Hail.

Scoop2500

1.) 30 Jul 2018 10:43:26
You do realise we can still buy players from England after their window closes? They window only closes on their club's buying.

2.) 30 Jul 2018 10:49:39
Come off it scoop every man and his dug know teams from outside England can purchase English based players after there window closes.

3.) 30 Jul 2018 10:50:17
We can still get players from England until the end of August. Only their window closes on the 9th.

4.) 30 Jul 2018 10:53:52
It's just the English teams that can't bring any New players in after that time but they can still sell players after that.

5.) 30 Jul 2018 13:20:14
Guys don't rise to scoop2500.
He's put this crap on about 10 times and been told how the window works each time but then waits a wee while and puts it on again.

6.) 30 Jul 2018 13:34:09
Just checked and I apologise to you all. i miss read the article. its completely stupid what they have done. they can't buy but they can sell. so all the crap can be sold at extortionate prices lol.

7.) 30 Jul 2018 15:38:03
Loan deals galore the end of August.

28 Jul 2018 08:02:14
Less than 2 weeks to go for the English transfer window and after Brendan comments about transfers has big Chris Sutton wondering what's going on at the club. can we bring players in if we pass Rosenberg.

Scoop2500

1.) 28 Jul 2018 08:25:34
Why this obsession over transfers? We will if we can and if we can't we will not. simple really. We have good younger players, maybe a season or two off first team, but this is our model going forward. Wait for the right guy. Oli and EDDY surely prove that.

2.) 28 Jul 2018 08:54:58
We are woefully short in the centre of defence and at RB - and have been for 2 years. That’s why we signed Comperr and Gamboa and they both failed. If we get past Rosenburg and don’t strengthen those areas we will face another PSG or Barcelona result. Fact.

3.) 28 Jul 2018 09:13:07
Chinks there's no way we're signing players capable of going head to head with those sides this season. Luke GJ says, we have to develop them. That's our model. Now I always want to see us be as good as we can but when you look at the market, people expecting CL ready players need to take themselves for a walk. God forbid it crosses their minds that players have turned us down either. Two players we've been 'linked' to in the past, that I would have liked to see us sign - Gunn and Jahanbakhsh - have just went for 14m and 17m respectively; and there will be folk who haven't heard of either. That's what we're up against. All I am hoping for now is once the EPL window shuts, we can raid the lukes of City, Chelsea etc for players like Ntcham. There might be an opprtunity to get a more developed player in, we'll see.

4.) 28 Jul 2018 09:21:35
@Chinks67. Woefully short? Gamboa not impress you midweek, there's also Ralston and Lustig coming back. You think three full backs is woefully short?

Boyata, Jozo hendry and Ajer, you could also throw Biton in. World cup and other factors hurt us thats' all. So four CB's with a possible fifth if we are in a tight spot Woefully short?

5.) 28 Jul 2018 10:26:18
If anything I think we are woefully short at LB.
If anything happened tierney we are buggered. Calvin Miller isn't a left back and I wouldn't fancy arguably our best midfielder in McGregor moving there so a LB to cover tierney should be priority.
Gamboa may have done well midweek but he will never cut it in group stages. I still think he may leave before the window closes.
Lustigs long term position maybe at CB now that his legs are slowing but still enough quality to do a job for us.
Hopefully young Ralston pushes on this season but is no where near ready for CL football. This position will need addressed in January or at the latest next summer.
I'd prefer a new No1, Lb to cover tierney, an experienced CB and an AM to rival rogic.
I'll be happy with this if it happens.

6.) 28 Jul 2018 10:47:02
Chink67 we could spend 20 million on our central defence and Barcelona and PSG can still do that
PSG have an attack force that's valued at around 500million.

7.) 28 Jul 2018 11:08:04
I can't believe that we can only strengthen our squad by paying top Champions league prices.
I am certainly not expecting us to challenge the likes of PSG, Barcelona, or Real Madrid, that is nonsense, but we should be able to at least keep the score down against them.
Last season we were beaten heavily home and away by PSG, the year before we conceded 7 at Barcelona. As good as we were going forward on wednesday night, defensively we were poor, and I don't think if we were to draw any of these top teams again the result would be any different.
There are plenty of leagues in Europe and the world where players are priced more reasonably than in England, I'm sure if the club looked hsrd enough they could find players to improve us that are within our price range. We have done it before.

8.) 28 Jul 2018 11:34:20
I wouldn’t write wee Gamboa off. I certainly think if he can keep up the form he showed he could be the RB, but, it’s a still an if. It might be the confidence boost he needs. I think we only need one CB. If we sell Boyata then that money needs to be reinvested in his position.

To keep moving forward requires we strengthen at the back. Mid to front, assuming we keep the moos looks very strong and with young Morgan in he looks a player too and big Eddy even at £9m already looks a steal.

If this you Aussie arrives it’s another class player. It really just a CB, again depending on Gamboa, away to Rosenborg will see if it was too soon to think he can step up I hope he can. I think there is a player in there so it’s up to him to show that. If he can’t then we need cover as young Ralston is not ready no matter how much we want him to be.

It is starting to take the oh so familiar pattern of not buying anyone. I think that’s risky. We have two rounds to go before we get into the mega bucks that I feel with superglue the coffin lid on Sevco. I absolutely believe if we strengthen the defense we can put some points on the board this year. The way we are playing us the best I have seen since MON days. A couple of additions defensively and and we could be even better than that great team.

A Treble Treble and putting up a fight in the group stages is within our grasp. Making that a reality I feel requires at least one solid addition to the defense.

9.) 28 Jul 2018 11:56:07
Lustig is never a cb not physical enough or quick enough if we need to strengthen that area buy someone. sounds too simple.

10.) 28 Jul 2018 16:32:22
The player I worry most about at Celtic is Jack Hendry . I think Jack is very typical of the type of player Celtic should buy . He is an ideal fit for us, young, big, strong and seems very keen to learn . There is no point in having Brendan Rodgers as manager if we are not going to utilise Brendan's strengths, developing football skills and life coaching .
Brendan's biggest difficulty with Hendry won't be Jack, but I am afraid there is a small number but very loud fans who seem to take great delight in turning any mistakes by Jack into disasters .
Try to encourage Jack, that is more likely to improve him, than taking away his confidence by roaring abuse it him.

11.) 29 Jul 2018 01:14:10
Chris I agree he gets a lot of stick. Yes he makes mistakes but what defender doesn't? Infact what player doesn't? unfortunately we don't shop in the finished article end of the market, personally I've enjoyed watching players like vvd, wanyama, teirney, edouard, Roberts etc (I could go on) , improve at our club, there's a lot to be admired about what's happening at celtic just now, but aside from the charity work, improving players has to be up there with the best of it, especially if they stay long enough to help us reap the rewards either in trophies or in transfer fees.

27 Jul 2018 09:53:38
Just seen that West ham has enquired about n, cham.

Scoop2500

1.) 27 Jul 2018 12:55:24
Well the prices they are buying and selling players down there they can start at £50 million.

2.) 27 Jul 2018 14:45:35
Seemingly they rate him at £8mill. Put £28 to £30mill on the table and I would still be gutted if we sold him and replaced him with McGinn.

3.) 27 Jul 2018 16:08:03
£50m for Felipe Anderson but Ntcham at £8M?
Good one West Ham🧐.

4.) 27 Jul 2018 19:23:31
That's what I mean Andy.
The English are happy to pay over the top for average players, take Maguire for instance Man Utd supposedly bidding £65 million but Leicester wanting £80 million.
If Ntcham played for a championship team he would be worth £20 million at least.

Faddy your right I shouldn't be taking it out on lennon but he is the manager and in the past he has said what needs to be done and the position, s that we need. Are we waiting for a big bid for Tierney before we can sign anymore players.

We are looking to make some additions and it will be important to integrate them in as quickly as possible.

There is a huge amount of work going in and we hope we will get some positive news soon. ”

For weeks I have been trying to make this point. if we don9get into the champions league there will be a rubbish storm heading for Brendan and the board on why yet again we were piss poor in the transfer window especially when that lot across the city have no money and bought 10 players in and not all off them are rubbish. this could be a painfully wake up call.
