Hi JFP1888, thanks for your comment and your welcoming me to the site. I respect your opinion and your reasons make sense. Like pretty much everything nowadays too many people attempt to force their opinions on others and get offended when rebuked. This a great site and I enjoy reading the comments, some of the humour is fantastic to read.

Keithoaks ma auld man God rest him would never argue he’d always just say ‘Ach well we’ll agree to differ’ then he’d change the subject.

The older I get the more I’m impressed with his non-adversarial approach.

The sites fantastic Keithoaks I look forward to your input.

Get yourself on the live chat during games that’s a hoot.

Hi, I've followed the site for years, which is very entertaining but I think I've only commented once. I'm an ex serviceman and, of course a Celtic supporter, I always wear a poppy but like most others agree the choice is personal. If you don't want to I'm ok with that. Life's too short for all of these prejudices.

Personal choice is the key, no one should have issues with that. My issue is the time extent in memorial is excessive and the poppy pushers forcing people to wear the poppy especially on British live TV, where everyone appearing live is compulsory and on printed on football jerseys. Hardly freedom of choice, is it?

Hi Keithoaks welcome to the site my friend. I’ll never wear a poppy but I respect your rights too and probably understand your reasons as an ex-serviceman for choosing to do so. My reasons for not doing so are not personal but based on fact.

The British Legion when asked told me I was ‘remembering the brave fallen in WW1 and WW2 and the subsequent conflicts including Iraq and Northern Ireland’. On that basis out of respect for the people of Derry and the 100s of 1000s killed in Tony Blair’s illegal ‘war’ I respectful decline.

As James McLean said ‘If it was to remember the brave men and women from the first and second world wars (including my own family) I’d wear one everyday’. I’m very proud of my club’s refusal to participate in the annual support for the parachute regiment evident at Ibrox under the guise of ‘helping our heroes’.

I wear a poppy every year since my grandad died he was in the 6th airborne Division during the 2nd world war and was very proud to have been a paratrooper but was disgusted by actions of some regiments in later years (he blames the government and army leaders as paratrooper's shouldn't have ever been used as peace keeping troops he left the service after a stint in Palestine after the war disgusted with the job they were given) but he was my hero growing up and not once have I been subjected to any negativity at games for wearing one.
