Rumored Lennon going to offer Lustig 2 year deal. Wow.

1.) 01 Jun 2019 10:39:47
Oh god no, he’s been painful to watch the last couple of seasons. I can’t believe where we needed a right back for at least 4 windows and we can’t pick one and get the deal over the line. They are putting the fear of god into me at the minute, cheapest option with a manager, then apparently a new deal offered to Izzy and now apparently Lustig . What’s next? Get commons to get the boots out again.

2.) 01 Jun 2019 11:49:17
I'd be quite happy to see lustig get a deal but will have to be as the number 2 RB.

3.) 01 Jun 2019 12:00:56
Yep lustig as back up would do for me 👍🏻.

4.) 01 Jun 2019 12:14:21
A lustig not playing every week doesn't work. his fitness when called upon wouldn't be up to it.
We have to get a new RB. and possibly Ralston as back up.

5.) 01 Jun 2019 12:43:28
Lustig could maybe do a job at centre back as a cover option as well so might be worth keeping around for another season.

6.) 01 Jun 2019 13:28:31
Lustig has been one of our better performers in the second half of the season. guys got bags of experience and still playing international football for a top team. He may need to share duties a bit more the same as broony but still a capable player in my eyes. Seasons just finished and I am chomping at the bit for next season to start 🙂🍀🏆🏆🏆.

7.) 01 Jun 2019 14:18:04
Jungle John you could say that about any player sitting as back up.

8.) 01 Jun 2019 15:14:51
Yes kev but a younger back up is going to naturally give you more energy.
All that is happened to lustig is that father time has caught up with him.
He ain't got the legs and he will only get slower with a lack of game time.
It's only my opinion but RB is a priority position that needs addressed.

9.) 01 Jun 2019 15:42:07
I think we all agree that RB is a priority and has been for some time now, I think lustig is good enuf back up but I don't think Ralston is good enuf for us, maybe send him out on season long loan or let him go.

10.) 01 Jun 2019 16:05:10
Lustig has had his day, passion above ability which has got him through, but it's time to get this position sorted, the fact we are linked with virtually nobody is worrying, scares me to death when the old bhoys are getting offered extensions, shows our recruitment is off the pace.
I wake up each morning hoping the RB and CB positions are addressed and unfortunately it's the same story.
Sell Ntcham for 9m
Sell Rogic for 12m
Bring in the lad from Motherwell pronto no pissing about, buy Benkovic with a buy back clause to Leicester to get the deal over the line and then bring in a young fast RB and id be happy, obviously get rid of the rest of the dross stealing a wage.

11.) 01 Jun 2019 17:02:03
Lustig has been a great servant but it make no sense offering him a 2 years deal. He had a nightmare first half of the season. He would hardly stay to be second fiddle to someone else. Much rather O'Donnell from killie and someone else. This idea of offering Izzy and lustig new contracts is crazy. These were our full backs in 2011! How long do they expect them to play. Hope this is not the sign of things to come in the transfer market.

12.) 01 Jun 2019 17:39:35
The fact he needed double coverage at the asbestos dome was enough. I love the big guy but his legs are gone when up against any kind of speed merchant and he was targeted by sides in European competitions.
Every player no matter how good has a life span and sadly the big mans has reached its end. The tears at hampden means he knows it to.
Brilliant back up for a new no 2 and knows what it takes and what it means, new deal as back up, fine, but not our regular starter.
Only my opinion guys.

13.) 01 Jun 2019 19:52:17
I'm sure there were players in Lennon's Hibs team that said NL told them to target lustig as he saw him as the weak link, so surely then NL only sees him as a back up as well?

14.) 02 Jun 2019 11:45:46
Wssnt it Lennon himself that said that about Lustig. Targeting him as the weaklink.

15.) 02 Jun 2019 12:56:14
John mcginn it was that said lennons team used to target lustig whenever they played! Doesn’t surprise me in the slightest that he’s offering lustig a deal but! Now I could maybe understand if we knew a first choice right back of quality was being brought in and lustig is getting kept for his experience and back up! But think we know that won’t be the case!

16.) 02 Jun 2019 13:58:53
We can’t get deals over the line because Lawwell keeps pussy footing about sticking in low offers instead of putting realistic offers in and getting the deals done or worse still waiting to see if we qualify first, the next two seasons are vital and Lawwell needs to get his act together and act to keep us to the forefront of Scottish football but I have my doubts that he will .

17.) 02 Jun 2019 15:51:30
Twitter rumour Adam Matthews, he’s been released by Sunderland, whatever next, Danny get your boots on.

18.) 02 Jun 2019 17:00:23
Take him all day long over Lustig, knows the score too and only 27.

19.) 02 Jun 2019 18:04:27
Adam Matthews! May aswell get samaras back tae and see whit big majstorvic is up tae! There’s a reason he’s been released by Sunderland who play in league 1 down there! Hooper Matthews deals offered to lustig and Izzy! Big ambrose should expect a call soon to eh! Buzzing to see who’s next 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️.

20.) 03 Jun 2019 09:20:31
Izaguire and Lustig Lennons 1st 2 signings 1 has knocked him back and the other is past his best and would only be a decent cover RB if he’s on low wage and it’s only a 1 year deal.
Hardly inspiring signings for me.

This might be a bit of an unknown quantity but must say heard the Reading manager Paunovic getting interviewed earlier in the season and was all about the whole club rather than first eleven as in integrating every level to a single goal in my opinion came across really well. Have watched his side play and have been impressed at style of play he promotes, any thoughts.

K72

1.) 01 Feb 2021 22:59:01
Every club tends to do that. whatever favoured formation the top team plays the levels below them follow suit it’s nothing new. only our problem this year is we have played over 35 different teams and formations due to multiple mitigating circumstances. like injuries . loss of form. C.V. cases. self isolating. plus personally some strange decisions by the coaching team? I’m actually quite excited about next season now as a summer of comings and going’s always gets the excitement levels up plus we can’t be any worse than this season. HH 🍀.

2.) 01 Feb 2021 23:49:03
Sorry, its identity was not meaning playing the same formation from boys club to first team Big P he conveyed it as in embracing everything which would build character, strength, humility being thankful for what they are and embracing the need to improve yourself which would be for the common good of the team, as I wrote hadn't heard much of him before but have been impressed.

01 Jun 2019 09:34:51
Purely hypothetical now but if izzy signed the reported 1 year deal he was offered and KT wasn't ready for start the of the season after his operation (fingers and toes crossed) which due to being hip is a bit worrying and isn't totally inconceivable, we would have izzaguire as main left back, really.

K72

1.) 01 Jun 2019 10:23:44
He wasnt even first choice when KT was injured. Hayes was ahead of him and he's not even a LB or a defender.

2.) 01 Jun 2019 13:11:39
Worrying isn't it.

3.) 01 Jun 2019 22:37:33
Well K72 just think it could have been the same full backs as 2011 in Izzy and lustig! 😲.

4.) 02 Jun 2019 07:31:58
Legends 5 a side team maybe 🤔.

5.) 03 Jun 2019 00:11:35
K72 Tierney is having a double hernia operation.

First time I have ever posted on this Lennon might turn out to be the best thing since sliced bread, I don't think so, goods team generally mirror their manager and Lennon is flakey not mentally able to be the spearhead of an organization the size of Celtic, he loves Celtic but so do I that isn't enough, he has proven that he is not going to be a top class coach as he just doesn't have it I'm sorry for people who like this appointment but no Lawell has really screwed us over and I'm a bit shocked that Desmond hasn't jumped in with such an important appointment as he has done when hiring O'Neil and Rodgers, I mean seriously talking about Lustig and Brown as mainstays in your team should be enough for the hierarchy to have alarm bells ringing, I have followed Celtic for all my life and was there when Sevco or sorry they where called Rangers then won 9 in a row and know that this was our time we don't have to go into debt with the money in the bank we have to finally rub the it nose in it and really can't understand this, might be wrong but honestly think we have blew it, Love the Hoops forever Hail Hail 🍀.

I think Brown has to be given a father figure role, on the subs bench, and Lustig has to be let go
, maybe it's s mistake all managers make, holding onto players well past it, some sort of emotional attachment like Stockholm syndrome, England were guilty of it with Beckham, WGS got himself fired because of picking players who had been loyal but we're holding back the Scotland team, Celtic played much better football when Brown was out injured, and McGregor was playing his role, when he came back they went back to the slow build up, and struggled in games, but then Brown would thrash in a few goals and instead of being recognised as the problem he was seen as the saviour, on Saturday, after Hearts scored, Browns run into the box sparked a bit of life into a turgid Celtic performance, and once again he was lauded, but if he had been sitting on the bench and young Henderson had been playing, maybe Celtic would have been running riot, like I said about Beckham, in one of his last games, late on he put in a lovely cross and England scored from it, and much praise he got, but in the sixty minutes before he had wasted about seven crosses with his teammates waiting in the box, don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of Brown, but his time as a first team regular is finished, it's not that other teams have sussed how we play, they have sussed how to play against Browns less incisive slower play.

2.) 28 May 2019 00:40:55
I agree both will need phased out eventually but for here and now they are more than capable domestically,
Europe is another case. .
I think in Christie, McGregor and Ntcham we have plenty to step in for Brown through the course of the season.
I have no idea who we would look at for right back. Does Ralston deserve a run in the team or does the fact Toljan (who is mince) got game time ahead of him suggest he's not to the required standards?

3.) 29 May 2019 00:25:52
Aindoh., fair comment but you kinda criticise yourself when you say young Henderson may .
By saying that you are also creating the idea he may not .
In a cup final good managers don't run the risks by playing players who may or may not do the job, if they have a reliable player who is always likely to do job .
By all means give Henderson plenty of opportunities to play.

Ralston didn't look to clever recently but has been injured for a while so maybe give one more year but dynamic full backs is the modern way pity atalanta qualified for champ' league because he looked a player, so if we where prepared to spend on him surely there must be another full back of similar talent for that sort of dough, O'Donnell looks a decent player but not on the level of the boy castagne but squad player definetly and maybe loan Ralston out for 1/ 2 season and see what happens, also think goalkeeper position needs looked at hopefully Gordon out the door and another keeper preferably with a bit more presence than Bain who has done well, also would love to get benkovic back.

Tognozzi looks an interesting candidate but with brexit our options on bringing in foreigners will be severely limited because work permits will be required so my heads all over the place as in what path we should go down, but whatever that path is he must do better in recruitment, over last few years which in my opinion is very Lawell led has been a bit and miss so if you give new head coach / manager the tools he should be capable of putting a good side on the pitch and tognozzi may have one hand tied behind his back as a lot of European will not get a work permit. Maybe the Man City connection could be good with a good coach to develop hungry younger players.

Brown hasn't the communication skills / intelligence to be a top level coach so sorry let him go to pastures new he runs about like the boss but sadly basic passes seem to be to much for him now and more interested in winding people up than doing his job, searved us well but we need to move on.

Do you think a new manager appointment is being held up because we are seemingly going down the D. O. F route and personally I think he should have the biggest input into the the new Head coach appointment.

K72

{Ed007's Note - I don't think anything's being held up. Fans want things to happen immediately and that's never the case in football. I suspect JK has said he wasn't willing to step-up if Lennon was sacked and after that there was no option than to stick with NL. I don't realistically see anyone that would have taken over the way things were going and having to work with Lawwell.}

Agree with Auf1888 there, should be nowhere near deadball situations and his wanting to shoot constantly means he gets a worldy every now and again which people remember rather than rest of his game, not for me to slight and Turnbull already twice the player he is.
