That was a good and interesting read Jic1956.
There’s no doubt Hart should be commanding his 6 yard box better and they have the same problem with McGregor at Ibrox.
In the last 2 league games, Celtic have conceded 4 goals from set-pieces.
I don’t think Hatate and O’Riley defended Aberdeen and Dundee’s first goals well enough.
The Aberdeen goal, both players were sleeping and the same happened against Dundee.
I wouldn’t have Hatate in the box defending corners. I would leave him further up the pitch with a chance to counter attack.
I don’t know if it’s a communication problem but he remains static trying to defend in his own box.
O’Riley needs to keep his eye on the ball at all times. A few times he’s tried to defend a cross ball without looking and that’s criminal.
I know Celtic have had problems defending set-pieces before our new signings joined but it’s been schoolboy defending in our last 2 league matches.

Agree aindoh IMHO 2 men on posts keeper in middle both cb either side if cross comes in close keeper goes for it (still 4 men on line ball comes in further out cb attack ball no standing start rubbish HH.

I see nobody has mentioned where CCV and Starfelt were. Once again they were posted missing at set pieces.
When are our so called defensive coaches going sort out this shocking defending. Because if we have any aspirations to win the league this has to improve.

The problem for me is we seem to have kept the same way of defending corners and free kicks since lennon. Have to agree that this zonal marking is total rubbish. Standing marking an area and allowing the opposition to run and jump while our defenders stand and jump is clueless. I have never seen space score a goal but l have seen plenty of men score. Surely man for man needs to be done and at least one guy on the post. If you are marking a guy and he scores then it's your fault. Otherwise we will continue to ship goals which could cost us in the title run in.

Our frailties are quite glaring at set pieces as we all know.
A couple of layman's observations from someone who played at the back at a diddy level.
It's much harder to defend a set piece if our defenders are all facing/ running towards our own goal. Second goal for Dundee is a great example. In the same goal our second error, I feel, was that we were set up way too far away from our keeper. The space between them was way too big. Shorten that space and the keeper has a better chance to catch it mid flight. We often appear to wait for the ball to come to the man instead of the man going to the ball. Zonal marking is for the birds - it means players are sitting in positions where the ball might never arrive from the cross - get tight, get goal side and let the attacker know your there. Be as cute as you can - use your body to block runs - Broony was/ is great at that. If you can't win the ball then at least you will not give the attacker a great chance of a clean header.
There are other things of course like men on the posts, matching physicalities (JJ a great defender but should he be marking a 6ft 4in beast at a corner? ) or just being hard/ aggressive/ determined etc.
That's just the defending part - what about our free kicks and corners?
I see Celtic do it all the time and it's frustrating. If only I had any talent I'd have shown them!

You don't see or hear from the media that it's been 17 months since a penalty and a sending off was gave against them in the league yet they think their harshly treated. That must be some kind of record for them as i can't see many clubs as being as fortunate.
